Chapter 201 Locked
The blonde approached a black SUV nearby.
A burly man with a large beard got out of the vehicle, "Joanna, what's happened?"
"Did you see that Mercedes G500 just now?"
"Of course, definitely a rich bastard in there, and a good client too."
"He is a cop."
"Really? Are cops so wealthy nowadays?" the bearded man was also a bit tense, "You didn't blow your cover, did you?"
"No, he was tricked by me." Joanna first smiled smugly, then her smile froze, "Why can such fools afford luxury cars, yet I can't..."
"That means the guy has a good daddy." The bearded man sneered, seeming to recall something, "What's a cop doing here anyway?"
"He said there was a robbery and murder here last night, he came to investigate."
The bearded man waved his hand, "Then we should change locations, get away from these plague carriers. Your trick won't work every time."
Joanna threw her cigarette butt on the ground and stamped it out, "Actually, my acting isn't bad, the cop just now was completely fooled, really thought I was a bait cop.
Maybe I should try Hollywood, you could keep being my agent then."
The bearded man shook his head and chuckled, "Come on, Hollywood is not as simple as you think."
Joanna was defiant, "Are you still questioning my acting skills? What about that cop just now?"
From not far away, a voice answered, "What do you want me to say?"
Joanna jumped in fright and looked toward the voice, seeing a black-haired youth walking out of the woods—the driver of the Mercedes G500.
"How are you here?"
"Fuck!
Joanna, you're the real fool." the bearded man cursed, raised both hands, and ran.
"Don't move!" Luke commanded, first handcuffing Joanna.
A black Ford Explorer drove up, Luke felt relieved and quickly chased after the bearded man.
Luke was agile, and the bearded man was bulky; in terms of speed, Luke had the advantage.
However, catching up to him wasn't easy.
Firstly, the two had a bit of distance between them.
And, the bearded man dashed into the woods.
He exerted all his energy, managing to run only a short distance before sustaining a few scratches on his body.
Luke had all the energy, but he used only 80%, catching the man was good, but injuring himself was not worth it.
Now it was a test of endurance.
Luke kept chasing, shouting, "It's too dark, I can't see your hands, raise your hands! If I sense any danger, I'll shoot."
Some might think, are you stupid, he's running, why say all that?
But it was effective.
The bearded man raised his hands again, forced to continue running in that posture.
He wanted to run, but he wanted to survive more.
He knew Luke wasn't just bluffing but was really likely to shoot.
Luke didn't shoot because the man hadn't made any threatening moves.
If his hands had accidentally gone to his pockets while running, once Luke misinterpreted it, he might shoot.
Simply put, he couldn't give Luke a reason to shoot.
He believed that as long as he didn't pose a threat to the cop while running, the other side would not shoot easily.
Simply put, a cop's bullet hitting a suspect's chest and hitting their back are completely different concepts.
Soon, Luke was catching up rapidly, seizing an opportunity as the man turned, Luke pushed hard against the bearded man's shoulder.
The bearded man was already running forward, the push from Luke made him lose balance and fall.
The bearded man rolled on the ground, got up, and then saw a fist as big as a bowl coming right at him.
The bearded man instinctively raised his hand to block, using his forearm to stop Luke's fist.
The bearded man knew he couldn't outrun his pursuer, thus decided to fight, kicking towards Luke's abdomen.
Luke dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the kick.
A left hook continued, striking the man's cheek.
And the bearded man, not to be outdone, smashed a right hook toward Luke's stomach.
"Bang!" Luke's fist was faster, hitting the man's face first.
The bearded man got punched silly, his right fist also weakened, hitting Luke's stomach lightly.
Even so, Luke felt some pain and fiercely resolved, watching the bearded man not falling, threw another straight punch towards his temple.
"Bang!"
This punch was strong, quick, and the bearded man had no chance to dodge, getting knocked out cold.
To prevent any retaliation, Luke mounted him delivering a flurry of punches.
"Bang..."
Beating the bearded man's face swollen, thoroughly eliminating any resistance.
Luke pulled the bearded man up, handcuffed him, and read him the Miranda warning.
"Ugh." After a while, the bearded man regained consciousness, "You damn cop, you really hit hard!"
"You attacked the police so decisively, I thought you were tough, turns out you're just soft."
The bearded man shook his head, "I'm not soft, you just blindsided me.
If I wasn't worried about you shooting, I wouldn't have been restrained and ended up knocked down."
"In this lifetime, you won't have that chance." Luke pulled him off the ground and walked towards the highway.
Just as Luke was escorting the bearded man onto the highway, the black Ford Explorer drove up, and Anna got out of the car, "Luke, are you alright?"
"I'm fine, what about that woman?"
"She's caught, in the car."
