Chapter 477: 477: Ascendancy Planet
"Now, after months of travel in a journey through so many different galaxies and species along the way, the spaceship could finally land: the Universe Ascendancy Planet.
\\"Shit, we're actually here.\\" Caleb said this low, looking out over the really barren, desolate landscape, with advanced structures scattered all around. \\"This is the big leagues, huh?\\"
The surface of the planet was indeed bare and had nothing else but rows of modern, hi-tech cabins. And the crowds of beings from every corner of the cosmos entered and left the mentioned structures.
The Earth official looked at Caleb and said, \\"Those are the Simulation Cabins. That's where they access the portal to the Ascendancy Gaming Realm. Their souls are transferred there, and that's where the games are hosted.\\"
He approached the front of one of the cabins with intrigue. The patterns of the surfaces shifted, displaying some kind of advanced nature of the construct.
A Uofotan guide piped in, \\"The cabins are of an ancient design from the founding races of the Ascendancy Games. They were constructed to project the consciousness into a parallel dimension, one that's created specifically for the competition, so as all participants are on even ground.\\"
Caleb's hand ran along the outside of the cabin, feeling the smooth, finished surface. \\"So all that is me, all my powers, they come with me into this realm of gaming?\\"
\\"Truly, your strength, either physically or spiritually, and whatever skills or abilities in which you are gifted, they are all kept within these walls. This is true to all competitors.\\"
The history of the cabins was as interesting as their function. They had originally been designed as a way for strong cosmic entities to settle their disputes without breaking things in the real universe, and over time, turned into the high-stakes centerpiece of the Universe Ascendancy Games.
\\"The cabins and the world to which it leads you are the heart of games,\\" kept on with the guide. \\"The competitions at the cabins would stop the wars, solve disputes, and keep peace in the world.\\"
As he took this in, its real weight came home to him. The games were much more than just some strength testing; they were, in fact, another way the traditions of ages past had continued on, shaping the history of the galaxy. \\"Well, no pressure, right?\\" Caleb joked.
He goes on leading them to the registration area for the Universe Ascendancy Games, and all the while, he is bubbling with excitement, sharing with the team, and talking to a veteran Ufotan in the games who has quite much information on the games' history and how it has affected people.
"You know, the outcome of these games doesn't go to show or glory," remarked Ufotan. "It directly influences the resources and political clout that every race and planet holds in the universe. The winners not only influence the policies governing the galaxy but also can gain access to richer planets and advanced technologies."
He considered that information before saying, "So it's like the ultimate power play, huh? Win here and you're set for life."
The Ufotan nodded, recounting historical instances where the games played pivotal roles in resolving major disputes.
"Centuries ago, the two races of dragons and elves almost went into war over the Aetheris Nebula. The situation was sealed here, but the elves won the mining rights to the nebula without even losing one life."
He went on, "Then there were the demons and phoenixes. Theirs was an ancient feud over the Firestorm Galaxy which had legendary status. It had culminated in the games, and with the phoenixes triumphant, from that had come territorial dominance."
"So, it's like the court of the universe. You come here, duke it out, and whoever wins, gets the prize," Caleb prodded.
"Yes," Ufotan nodded. "And not just for ending disputes. The games are the most popular form of entertainment throughout galaxies. The thrill, the drama brings trillions of viewers."
He clarified Economy, "Races earn unbelievable figures through Pay-Per-View broadcasts. Every move, every battle is monetized. It's a huge industry—generating wealth, sustaining economies."
"PVVs, huh?" Caleb mused. "So, the more you look meaner in the area, the more cash flows back to your people. It kind of gives a reason for the hype."
On arrival at the registration point, teams Earth and Ufotan started the process of registration surrounded by respective officials.
One of the Earth men clapped Caleb on the back as he told Adam, "That's a long journey, Adam. Remember, it's not all about strength but strategy and teamwork."
Mia, standing beside Caleb, added, "We've trained hard for this. Let's show them what we're made of."
One of their officials had a stern look in addressing the team: "Let your courage and intellect honor our people; the games are proof of our collective progress and unity."
One of the stuff from the Ascendancy Planet explained as he filled the data forms: "These forms help us understand your team dynamics and individual capability. It is crucial for making fair matches in the games."
Leo was standing over Caleb's shoulder when he read the chalkboard and said to him, "Hope they have a section for 'most likely to cause trouble' on there, eh, Adam?"
Caleb grinned, replying, "They'd need a whole extra form for that, mate."
It further continued, "Starting at the Iron rank will allow you to acclimate to the structure and complexity of the game. You'll face teams with a similar experience level." Continue your journey at My Virtual Library Empire
Sarah, curious, asked, "What kinds of games are we talking about here?" "Various formats," said the staff, "from 'Astral Arena'—direct combat challenge—to 'Cosmic Conquest,' where it's kind of managing the resources and territories by teams from different planets."
Alex, intrigued, inquired, "So, we climb ranks based on performance in these games?" "Yes," the staff replied as he nodded. "First, your team will succeed in more than one game format, and that will increase their rank: from iron all the way up to bronze and beyond, with each tier presenting tougher challenges and even greater rewards."
