Lord of the Sky City

Chapter 885: Shooting Arrows with Both Hands

Whether a troop has combat strength is measured by their equipment and numbers, but more importantly, by their spirit.

Why did Cyril take the initiative to take on the task of defending and attacking Kasin City? It was to show Rocky the spirit of the family troops.

Their equipment is indeed not advanced enough, and they are not many in number, but at least they still have fighting spirit; at least they are still warriors. The battlefield needs not equipment, nor numbers, but warriors!

As the battle dragged on for a day and a night, entering a fierce stage, the Mairente Family's troops showed significant disadvantages in terms of number and equipment, but equally, they displayed their determination.

Facing the demon attacks, the soldiers on the battlefield did not retreat, nor did they fear; they fought to the death. Even when there was no way to retreat, they did not give up but chose to drag the demons down with them if they must die. This is precisely what Rocky wanted to see, because this is humanity's greatest weapon against the demons.

The endless demons cannot be eradicated with weapons. They are the most primitive monsters, and their weapon is their body. So, even a hundred years ago, when humans faced these monsters with superior weaponry, humans were so terrified that they fled to the skies.

Today, if humans truly wish to return to the land, even if it is just to reclaim a piece of land or a city, they must fight with the resolve to fight to the death. Otherwise, even if everyone is wearing White Demon Armor, it would be in vain, and such troops are not what Rocky would want.

"Aren't you going to help them?"

Seeing the situation on the battlefield, Karina, a battlefield veteran, looked at Rocky. She saw the Mairente Family's troops fighting bravely, which improved her opinion of this family, but she also noticed that they were struggling.

They are too few in number, and their equipment is too weak.

Karina was the earliest 'outsider' equipped with the Rune Battleship and Rune Armor. She knew better than anyone how powerless traditional warships and traditional armor are in today's battles. This powerlessness is not absolute but relative when compared to the more advanced rune equipment; the difference is vast.

So, after proving their combat strength, Karina wondered if Rocky should take action?

After all, although she hasn't fought alongside Rocky for a long time, she heard that Rocky had developed a new type of armor, the legendary Slaughter Battle Armor, and she had even seen it firsthand during her stay in Backhill Village and ordered a batch. Therefore, Karina thought that Rocky should deploy his ground forces now; with the combat power of the Slaughter Battle Armor, once deployed, the battle situation would be decided immediately, which is an unquestionable result.

However, Rocky shook his head.

"This is their fight; this victory will belong to them."

Looking at the battlefield engulfed in smoke, Rocky said slowly.

He was right; this was indeed the most difficult time of the battle, with the demons' counterattacks being the most intense. But if they can endure this stage, the battle situation will begin to favor Cyril, at which point the number of demons will drastically decrease, and they will gradually gain control of the battle, until completely taking control of Kasin City. In this situation, if Rocky sends his Guard Corps with the Slaughter Battle Armor, they could end the battle instantly, but that would not be helping Cyril; it would simply be stealing their credit.

Rocky would not do such a thing. Cyril led the troops to fight, they paid the price, they won, and no one, including Rocky, would try to steal that credit.

So, after saying this, Rocky called Liliya to make arrangements in Thunderhawk City and prepare to descend, while Karina also returned to Rose City to prepare to lead her troops to sortie.

Previously, they had detailed arrangements and division of labor; Cyril led the Mairente Family's troops in charge of Kasin City's defense and offense, while Karina was responsible for guarding the city perimeter, and Rocky was responsible for building the inner city in the shortest time possible.

At this moment, as Cyril was about to complete the task of capturing the city, Rocky and Karina had to each perform their duties.

Thus, after another day and night had passed, Kasin City was already shrouded in smoke, but the sound of gunfire had reduced significantly because after two days and nights of almost continuous battle, the demons in the city were largely eliminated, and several areas had even been completely cleared; the battle had entered its final stage.

With the nearing end of the city's battle, Rocky had Thunderhawk City float above the center of Kasin City, then transported the various defense installations prepared in the city onto the ship and flew away from Thunderhawk City.

Because they knew the action plan well in advance, even though Cyril intended to capture the entire Kasin City and eliminate all demons, his main target was the city's center. So, although other areas of the city were still in battle, the center had long been cleared.

In this context, Thunderhawk City's troops were fully deployed, with warships loaded with defense installations descending to low altitude. After landing on the ground, they unloaded the defensive installations from the ships, while a large number of workers also arrived on the ground to clear debris and excavate foundations.

According to Wynn's plan, he had already built the defense installations in batches, to be 'assembled' on-site, which would undoubtedly save a lot of time. However, work like excavation of the foundation still had to be completed on ground level, so building an inner city within Kasin City would still require a significant amount of time, needing at least a month.

Thus, from that day, a grand and lengthy construction project began, which could rightly be described as unprecedented. Although humans were driven to the skies, they have fought on the ground and built defense fortifications before, but never accomplished both simultaneously. However, this very scene was happening in Kasin City.

As the construction of the inner city commenced, the battle on the city outskirts continued, with demons not yet fully cleared. Yet, workers were already fervently digging foundations, to the extent that every day, workers could hear gunfire as a backdrop while working, a rare sight indeed.

At least from the current stage, although the construction environment for the workers was harsh, their safety could still be assured. This is because not only were the demons in the central area cleared, but those in other areas of the city were mostly eliminated too. Cyril had already ordered the troops to clean up the aftermath, and at the same time, Rocky also deployed Thunderhawk City's troops to take over the defense of the central area, so much so that workers could see ground forces in Slaughter Battle Armor wandering in front of their eyes every day.
