Lord of Mysteries: Starting As A Reader

Chapter 811: Tracy and Helene

Klein examined the "crystal" encasing Tracy, swiftly unclasped the citrine pendant from his left wrist, and performed a divination in a voice barely audible to himself:

"Forcibly removing the crystal around Tracy is dangerous."

After silently chanting seven times, Klein opened his eyes to see the citrine pendant spinning counter-clockwise.

This indicated that the crystal Tracy used to seal herself was purely for protection and had no offensive properties...

Thinking this, Klein caused "Creeping Hunger" to turn pale, moved his butterfly muscles on his back, and flung his arms wide before rapidly bringing them together, striking the "crystal" from both sides with the power of a "Zombie."

"Thud!"

With a dull thud, the "crystal" around Tracy's body remained unchanged. Instead, it was Klein who unnaturally shook his arms.

So hard! If I hadn't switched to my "Zombie" state, that hit would've surely broken my bones... But then again, if I didn't have the "Zombie's" strength, I wouldn't have even tried...

Klein secretly mused for a few moments, then slowly turned his head, glancing at Danitz.

The great pirate, whose bounty had already risen to 4,500 gold pounds, immediately dropped his amused expression and straightened his face, as if he hadn't seen anything.

"Use fire on it," Klein instructed him.

"What?" Danitz didn't react for a moment, looking bewildered.

"Use fire on that crystal," Klein repeated expressionlessly.

"Oh... no problem," Danitz's face showed understanding, and he conjured flames in his palm.

But just as he was about to throw the fireball, the corner of his eye suddenly lost sight of Gehrman.

Danitz turned back in astonishment, realizing that the powerful and insane adventurer had flashed ten meters away in just a few seconds.

Seeing this, Danitz asked dumbfounded, "You, why are you hiding so far away?"

"There might be danger," Klein said in a low voice, suppressing a smile.

That's for laughing at me just now; it's an equivalent punishment... After all, I'm a "Fool" who adheres to "equivalence." He silently added in his mind.

"Didn't you just divine it?" Danitz squeezed out a smile and asked.

Klein replied solemnly, "Attacking the 'crystal' isn't dangerous, but that doesn't mean it won't be after it breaks..." As he spoke, he glanced at Tracy, whose eyes were tightly closed within the crystal, and added, "Besides, she's 'Vice Admiral of Ailment'!"

He deliberately emphasized the word "Ailment."

Upon hearing this, even though it was winter, Danitz felt cold sweat dripping from his forehead. He thought for a moment, then also ran back a dozen meters, simultaneously dispersing the "fireball" in his hand and changing it to "fire crows."

Quite clever! Klein watched his actions, a faint curve to his lips.

What he didn't tell Danitz was that even if Tracy had set up "ailments" within the crystal, it wouldn't make someone gravely ill so quickly. As long as one promptly exited the range of her "ailments," there wouldn't be much of a problem.

—This was experience gained from the battle with Mr. A.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

One after another, orange-yellow fire crows, once condensed, circled and flew out, striking the "crystal" one after another.

But as the smoke from the explosions dissipated, the crystals remained completely undamaged, as smooth as new.

Seeing this, Danitz looked at Gehrman with slight nervousness, then spread his hands, indicating he was powerless.

Klein nodded slightly, calmly stating, "It seems powers below Demigod-level will have difficulty breaking through..."

Perhaps my "Burial Blade" could forcibly break it, but firstly, this weapon crafted by Mr. Tower burns money with each use, and secondly, it might destroy Tracy's protective item, which would be a net loss.

After all, in his plan, this magical item also had a significant role.

He thought for a moment, then specifically observed Tracy in the crystal, noticing that apart from her damaged jacket, she only had a bracelet on her right wrist...

That must be it! Klein thought, and without avoiding Danitz, he constructed a spiritual wall in front of him, set up the ritual, and summoned his own spirit body.

The spirit body seemed to be composed of tiny, twinkling specks of light of various colors, sometimes forming a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes a child, sometimes a youth, and each time their clothes and appearance were different.

In Danitz's "Spirit Vision," this spirit body seemed to have some problem, forcing it to constantly "correct" its own existence.

"Error!" If he had to use one word to describe his feeling upon seeing this spirit body, Danitz would definitely choose that word... because the very existence of this spirit body seemed like an "Error."

At this moment, that "Error" spirit body, which seemed to be constantly being corrected by this world, extended its right hand and gently grabbed, and then a bracelet embedded with diamonds appeared in its palm.

Chapter 814: Tracy and Helene

And this bracelet had been on Tracy's right wrist just a second ago.

This was Klein utilizing the "Error Card," leveraging the power above the gray fog, granting his spirit body Demigod-level "stealing" ability.

After obtaining the bracelet, Klein took it above the gray fog for a brief study, then brought it back into reality before ending his self-summoning.

Next, under Danitz's terrified gaze, he calmly tidied up the ritual items, then glanced at the bewildered pirate not far away.

Sensing Gehrman's gaze, Danitz instantly shivered, then forced a smile and said, "I won't say anything."

Gehrman Sparrow truly belongs to an incredibly powerful and secretive organization! He likely summoned a Demigod just now!

Thanks to "Vice Admiral Iceberg" Edwina's strict teaching, Danitz had a decent foundation in mysticism. Even without seeing it, he knew that the existence of such a mysterious being would not have a low Beyonder characteristic!

Hearing Danitz's assurance, Klein nodded noncommittally, then put on the diamond-encrusted bracelet. His spirituality extended over it, and he removed the "crystal" from around Tracy's body.

Snap...

As the "crystal" abruptly vanished, Tracy fell directly to the ground. She laboriously opened her eyes and saw Klein nearby, wearing her bracelet.

"It's you... Adventurer..." Tracy recognized the adventurer who had saved her and immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Then her eyelids drooped, and she fainted again.

Falling into this adventurer's hands, while not the best outcome for her, was ultimately much better than other terrifying possibilities, which is why she could no longer hold on once her mental guard relaxed.

Looking at the unconscious "Vice Admiral of Ailment," Klein did not act rashly. Instead, he again took out the citrine pendant to divine, and only after confirming there was no danger did he cautiously approach, finally reaching Tracy's side.

Kneeling down to carefully examine her body, Klein found that the pirate general's condition was very poor.

Her external injuries were the lightest and had been simply bandaged, with bleeding stopped, so they weren't much of a concern.

However, the poison she was afflicted with was quite troublesome. Even without being a specialized doctor, Klein could tell from the color of her "etheric body" that the "poison" in her body was causing her continuous weakening. If it dragged on for another day or two, she might even lose control due to extreme weakness.

"This must be the drug used to 'control' her. Normally, a certain dosage of 'antidote' would be given daily to keep her in a weak, unconscious state without 'losing control'...

"But because Tracy escaped using a magical item, she didn't get the 'antidote' to relieve it, leading to this dangerous situation.

"I have no way to deal with this kind of poison... I can only wait for Mr. Tower to take over. He has the double favor of the 'Mother Earth' and Goddess Lilith.' He should have plenty of means to solve it."

With a plan in mind, Klein turned to Danitz, and said expressionlessly: "Take off your coat and give it to me."

Glancing at the somewhat tattered and revealing outer garment on "Vice Admiral of Ailment," Danitz suddenly understood. After muttering to himself, "Why don't you take off your own?" he obediently took off his coat and threw it to Gehrman.

Klein took the animal fur coat, which had a certain "scent," and remained silent for a few seconds. Finally, he proceeded to remove Tracy's clothes and helped her change into the "new" ones.

During this time, Klein inevitably observed some of Tracy's physical characteristics.

He forced himself not to look away, carefully recording them in his mind.

This wasn't because Klein had any ulterior motives... He was merely conducting "academic" research to avoid any flaws when "role-playing" later.

After doing all this, he picked up Tracy and carried her into the cave the fishermen used for resting.

Danitz, following Gehrman's instructions, lit a fire inside the cave and cooked some porridge using the grain stored there by the fishermen. He then couldn't help but ask, "Why aren't we going back to Lans Island? It's not far; even with my 'flying carpet,' we could get there before nightfall."

"We're still waiting for someone," Klein replied simply, then once again took out candles, essential oils, and "Amandala Pure Dew" and similar items.

He had just "notified" "The Tower," intending to use his "Nightmare" ability to enter Tracy's subconscious before that gentleman arrived, to ask about the "Demoness Sect" and the missing population in the colonies.

.....

Tosk, within the Surrey Family's underground ritual chamber.

As a circular flame door slowly formed, Ebner stepped out of it.

Immediately after, he simulated a "short-range teleportation" using his "Hand of Wisdom" glove, which he had left with Helene, quickly pinpointing her location and appearing directly inside her rented hotel room, right behind Helene.

—Since Fanny had left Tosk, Helene could no longer stay in the Surrey Family's ancestral home and had moved to a hotel.

"Sorry, I'm a little late." Hearing the familiar voice from behind, Helene, already dressed up, breathed a sigh of relief and turned around, saying, "There's still some time before the ball. Hurry and change, I've already prepared your clothes."

Ebner nodded, not dragging his feet. He took the clothes directly into the bedroom, and about two or three minutes later, he emerged wearing an exquisite black mask that only covered the part above his nose, a pirate general's hat, and a modified, exaggerated blue military uniform.

"You want me to dress up as a pirate general?" Ebner glanced at Helene, who was sizing him up, thinking: You've been captured by a certain pirate general and developed feelings for him, haven't you...

Helene was quite satisfied with Ebner's attire. She was now wearing a white feather mask, which, combined with her bright yellow low-cut evening gown and fiery red hair, made her look exceptionally radiant and beautiful.

"Actually, I should be wearing a 'beast' mask," Ebner praised Helene at the opportune moment.

"What?" Helene blinked in confusion, clearly not getting Ebner's joke.

Did Roselle not copy that? Or was it to be reserved for Bernadette as a "Mystical Reappearance" spell, so it wasn't spread?

While pondering, Ebner shook his head at Helene and chuckled, "Nothing, just complimenting your beauty."

Helene's face flushed slightly. She pretended to glance at the wall clock, changing the subject:

"We should leave now."
