Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills

Chapter 304: Dark memories

Eliman explained to Rowan that it would take at least forty-eight hours to get things ready, since he would have to travel down to a well-established market to purchase every required item.

"How much would it cost?"

"About five thousand gold coins, but do not worry about the money. It's been a long time since I spent my own gold, let me take care of this."

Rowan observed Eliman for some time, wondering just how rich he was.

He did not bother to persuade him to accept his money and thanked him instead.

"I'll leave in a few hours. I need to recover the mana I lost in the battle."

"I understand."

Rowan brought out some mana stones from his inventory and passed them to Eliman.

"Thanks a lot, man," Eliman said as he accepted the mana stones and shook Rowan's hand.

He asked for a quiet place to meditate and recover his mana. Dragun decided to take him to the meeting hall.

As both of them floated toward the meeting hall, Rowan heaved a relief sigh and started strolling toward Bruce's house.

At that moment, the entire population of the village—including the soldiers who had just returned—filled the streets in large numbers, celebrating their victory over the monster horde.

Families were hugging each other, rejoicing.

Some were down with tears of joy.

Those who spotted the grim reaper appear in the sky were filled with relief after realizing that it was the power of Rowan that had summoned it. They were filled with admiration for Rowan when they heard he slaughtered hundreds of powerful monsters in mere seconds with that power.

Rowan had a smile on his face as he approached the crowd. He was pretty relieved that they were able to celebrate the victory.

"Lord Rowan the conqueror!"

"Lord Rowan the great!"

They began chanting his name when they spotted him.

Rowan flashed them a gentle smile as they began gathering around him. They chanted his name even louder.

Rowan let their cheers wash over him.

At a moment like this, the celebration of his people was not only a boost of motivation to do more but also a moment that calms his mind of so many problems.

As usual, Rowan addressed them briefly and promised them that very soon, the village would reach a new era of happiness and development.

This promise wasn't simply for the sake of talking.

After the last calamity was settled, the village would most likely evolve and a lot of things would naturally improve.

The last time, the farmland was more fertile and the soldiers became stronger. This time, Rowan wondered what the effect might be.

As for the third and final calamity, Rowan predicted that the evil spirit summoning ritual to get rid of the curse on Ren and Liara would count as one.

The crowd resumed their celebration.

Riela found Rowan and both of them strolled together.

Although Riela was concerned with the condition of Ren and Liara, she ensured to make the moment with Rowan as romantic as possible.

She clung onto his arms as they strolled around and both of them flirted with one another.

Once they arrived at their room, they shut the door behind them and engaged in subtle intimate moments that lasted for about half an hour.

For the first time, Rowan fell asleep right after their intimate session.

Without proper sleep, he was still very worn out from the war.

He had used the last bit of strength within him to settle the issue of Ren and Liara and to satisfy his wife.

So he immediately fell asleep.

While Rowan was peacefully asleep, Riela sat down beside him and observed his body with a smile on her face.

She still wondered what mystery her husband hadn't revealed yet.

After the last conversation with Laverena a few hours ago, Riela's curiosity about the powers of Rowan piqued.

The conversation began right after the grim reaper appeared in the sky.

According to Laverena, Rowan is the first to use such power.

She mentioned that only those blessed by a powerful good force and those that possess a fate that defies heaven can use the cheat-like power of summoning death.

According to Laverena, even she could not use such power even if she wanted to.

"I am one hundred times stronger than your husband, yet even I cannot wield such power without risking immediate death and my soul being erased from existence by the Almighty One. Your husband's strength is extraordinary, Riela—a force surpassing mortal understanding and rivaling the divine. No being could match him. Even I, a goddess, would consider it the highest honor to become one of his concubines."

When Laverena mentioned those words, Riela felt a pang of jealousy and, at the same time, a wave of pride knowing she was his wife and his first love.

She felt even safer in his presence.

Even if the situation was a life or death, she would bet her life that Rowan would pull out of it successfully.

She subconsciously whispered a love confession while looking at him.

She kissed his lip softly and lay beside him.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Eliman finished his mana recovery and was prepared to exit the village to go purchase all the needed resources for the ritual.

As he strolled out of the meeting hall, he met Merla waiting for him outside.

Eliman flashed a smile as he strolled toward her. Merla smiled back, but it was short-lived as a worried expression soon appeared on her face.

"You are planning to do it?" she asked.

"Do what?" Eliman lifted an eyebrow at her question.

Merla realized the oddity of her question and blushed a little bit. But she quickly regained her composure and rephrased her question.

"Oh, you mean the evil spirit summoning ritual, yeah. Rowan and I have agreed on it."

"But you know how risky it is?" Merla asked worryingly.

The last time such a ritual was held, she lost two of her best friends who were consumed by powerful evil spirits and ended up killing themselves.

The gory scene of her friends exploding their own head replayed in her mind.

"I know how risky it is, but those dangers can be avoided as long as Rowan is with his sword," Eliman convinced her.

"But.."

Merla was still worried.

"I bet you have some really dark memories with this ritual. I do too, most of my schoolmates went mad and started slaughtering each other. I promise you none of that would occur this time."
