Chapter 47: Successor
The silence broke like glass.
Johan clenched his fists and stepped forward, his breath heavy with disbelief. His voice cut through the tension like a blade.
"Who do you think you are… telling me I'm disqualified?"
Jalen didn't flinch. He turned his head slightly, just enough for Johan to see the faintest trace of a smirk.
"Gun already found his successor," Jalen said calmly. "And it's me."
The words felt like a slap across the face.
Johan's eyes widened. "What?"
Jalen took a step closer, no fear in his movement. His tone grew colder.
"You messed up. Tried to play a leader with fake accounts. Broke your own people's trust. You had potential… but you blew it."
His gaze pierced straight through Johan's shaken pride.
"So now," Jalen said flatly, "you can fuck off."
Johan's jaw clenched. Deep down, he knew Jalen wasn't lying. He had felt the shift in aura when he arrived. There was no denying it. Still he wasn't ready to give up. Not like this.
"No," Johan muttered. "This… this can't be true."
He looked down for a second. Then up again sharper, eyes burning.
"If I beat you… Gun will change his mind. He'll see I'm the better choice."
Jalen's brows lifted just slightly, his smirk returning.
"This should be interesting."
The wind howled between the gaps of the broken construction lot. Everyone around froze in place. The air was thick with anticipation. Two monsters were about to collide and only one would leave with Gun's shadow behind them.
