Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Gift
(Wednesday, April 24, 2024 – 3:02 AM)
The moment I saw the time, I knew what had happened. My first body had collapsed.
Without hesitation, I jumped off the mattress and rushed out of the house, the cool air barely registering against my skin. My second body moved effortlessly, covering the distance to the park in under a minute. As I arrived, the sight in front of me was exactly what I expected, my first body, sprawled out on the ground, motionless.
I crouched down, checking my breathing. Still steady, just completely drained. Lifting my first body was almost too easy in this form, the weight barely noticeable. I carried it back home, moving through the dark streets without stopping, ignoring the few wandering eyes that noticed.
Once inside, I set my first body down gently on the mattress. It wouldn't be waking up for a few minutes, which gave me time. I headed straight to the kitchen.
Grabbing the ingredients I had bought, I quickly prepped a proper meal.
Vegetables, diced and tossed into a pan. Eggs cracked and scrambled. Meat sizzling as it cooked, the scent filling the small space. Whole wheat bread toasted, a side of fresh fruits laid out. The portions were balanced, everything measured to fit the diet I had planned. Enough to replenish energy, but still within limits.
With the meal ready, I left it on the counter before heading back to the mattress.
I sat down, placed a hand on my first body's shoulder, and gave it a firm slap.
Everything went black.
When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I felt was pain.
A deep, overwhelming soreness spread through every muscle. My arms felt like they had been ripped apart and barely put back together. My legs throbbed, each step a struggle as I pushed myself upright.
Then came the hunger.
It wasn't just an empty stomach, it was a desperate, gnawing ache, my body screaming for fuel. Every movement felt sluggish as I forced myself forward with my steps slow and unsteady.
The smell of food pulled me toward the kitchen.
I sat down with my hands trembling slightly as I grabbed the spoon. I ate slowly, deliberately chewing every bite. The warmth of the meal settled in my stomach, dulling the sharp edge of hunger. My muscles were still on fire, but the food helped.
I kept eating with my body recovering bite by bite.

After finishing his meal, Daniel slowly walked back to the small room with his body still aching with every step. The soreness was expected, but he needed to make sure it wouldn't cripple him when he switched back.
Without wasting time, he lowered himself onto the floor and began his stretching routine.
Every movement was slow and precise, focusing on each muscle group. He started with his shoulders and arms, rotating them to loosen the tension built up from the push-ups and pull-ups. His triceps were especially tight, so he pulled his arms behind his head, holding each stretch for several seconds before switching sides.
Moving to his lower body, he stretched his quads, pulling his foot back to his glutes and holding the position until the burn faded. His hamstrings were worse, just trying to touch his toes sent a sharp pull up the back of his legs, but he held the stretch, breathing through the discomfort.
His hip flexors and lower back needed special attention. Sitting with one leg extended and the other bent, he leaned forward, focusing on relaxing the stiff muscles. The pain dulled as he continued with his body slowly adjusting.
By the time he finished, he felt significantly looser, though the soreness remained.
Satisfied, he finally laid down on the mattress with heavy limbs. The moment his head touched the pillow, his eyes shut, and sleep claimed him instantly.
(6:01 AM)
Daniel's eyes opened.
Not only because he switched bodies, he had actually slept.
For a moment, he blinked, slightly disoriented. He hadn't planned to sleep, but now that he was awake, he realized something, he felt refreshed.
His mind was clear, sharper than before. The exhaustion from constantly switching between bodies had eased.
He sat up, looking at his first body lying peacefully on the mattress.
'So that's how it works…'
He had two bodies, but his mind was one. It seemed like he only needed a couple of hours of real sleep to fully reset. His body might get tired, but his mental exhaustion was what mattered.
Standing up, he opened his laptop and quickly searched for massage tutorials. If he wanted to maximize his gains, he needed to speed up recovery.
He scanned through beginner, intermediate, and master-level techniques.
The first time, he copied everything perfectly.
The second time, he improved the techniques, adjusting angles, pressure points, and timing.
The third time, it felt like second nature.
Closing the laptop, he moved toward his first body and crouched beside it. Carefully, he began working on each muscle group, pressing into sore areas with just the right amount of force. His hands moved with effortless precision, applying deep tissue techniques that would enhance blood circulation and speed up muscle recovery.
Neck, shoulders, arms, he worked through every knot of tension, ensuring no area was left untouched. His lower back and hips required more care, especially after the intense squats and planks. He pressed into the tight muscles, feeling them gradually relax under his touch.
Finally, he reached the legs and calves, using a mix of pressure and stretching motions to loosen up the tightness.
By the time he finished, he checked the clock.
(6:46 AM)
He needed to get to school.
Quickly, he headed to the bathroom, washing up and freshening himself. The cold water jolted him fully awake, bringing his mind back into focus.
As he stepped out of the bathroom, a familiar sound reached his ears.
The deep rumble of a motorcycle engine echoed outside.

I grabbed my uniform and threw it on quickly, slinging my bag over my shoulder before heading outside. The sound of the motorcycle idling in the alleyway was unmistakable. Jay was waiting with one hand on the handlebar while the other casually waving as he spotted me.
I walked up to him, dapping him up as my eyes fell on the large black bag sitting on the ground beside him. It was stuffed to the brim, the zipper barely holding it shut. I raised a brow, already having a feeling about what was inside.
"What's this?" I asked, nudging it with my foot.
Jay simply gestured for me to open it.
I crouched down, unzipping the bag. The moment it was open, my suspicions were confirmed. Clothes. Shoes. And not just any, high-end designer brands, fresh out of the store. Stacks of neatly folded outfits, sneakers still in their boxes, everything pristine and untouched.
I stared for a moment, then turned to Jay, who just stood there with his usual calm expression. "You're kidding, right?"
"They don't fit me." he said simply.
Obvious lie.
I didn't call him out on it. Instead, I closed the bag and stood up, looking at him for a long moment before stepping forward and pulling him into a firm hug. "I won't forget this." I muttered.
Jay didn't say anything, just gave a small nod.
"Give me five minutes." I said, picking up the bag and heading back inside.
I moved quickly, pulling out an outfit that caught my eye, a clean-cut designer hoodie, a fitted sweater, and fresh sneakers. I changed, adjusting the fit in the small mirror before grabbing my school bag and heading back out.

Jay was already seated on his bike, waiting.
This time, he was the one driving.
