Chapter 118: Faith, Aspiration, Practice, Proof!
The misty Realm Sea formed by the Chaos Origin Substance harbored a single bright star that stood out starkly amidst a congregation of dim, distant starlight.
At the very moment when this star lit up, several more stars within the Realm Sea also began to glow successively.
Yet some of these stars dimmed as quickly as they appeared, flickering just briefly before vanishing.
Only the first star that had illuminated remained persistently brilliant until it seemed to exhaust its energy and gradually faded back into obscurity.
"What is that..."
Wang Ba felt a shock ripple through his heart and instinctively turned to glance at the Primordial Fetus, which was slowly fracturing open.
He had been stationed here for more than three months but had never seen any stars light up before. And now, right at the moment of the Primordial Fetus's emergence, not a second too soon or too late, such an anomaly occurred within the Realm Sea. If he denied the connection between the two, he would never convince himself otherwise.
"Could it be... that this incarnation is so potent it triggered such a phenomenon?"
"Is that even possible? Did it resonate with another Domain as well?"
Wang Ba's mind buzzed with questions as he swiftly cross-referenced the newest Star Chart he had drawn. It didn't take long for him to pinpoint where that first star had been shining.
"It's situated not far east of Little Cang World..."
As thoughts raced about the connection between the incarnation's appearance and the glowing star, the crimson flesh of the fetus completely cracked open. The strange fragrance that had previously dissipated unexpectedly returned, far more intoxicating than before, with an ethereal quality that suggested even a single sniff could bring one closer to immortality.
Despite Wang Ba's timely intervention to block the fragrance, a portion still managed to escape.
The divine beasts nearest to him, including the White Tiger and Elephant Forty-Nine, were unabashed in their attention, fixing their fiery, ravenous gazes upon the flesh fetus. Wang Ba could even hear a few of them forcibly swallowing their saliva to stifle their cravings.
Witnessing this scene, Wang Ba tensed up and, at the same time, his curiosity deepened:
"What is the deal with this incarnation?"
Moments later, the flesh of the fetus peeled away, revealing a golden-glowing figure of a bare-butt kiddo who bore a striking resemblance to Wang Ba. Around five to six years old, he stepped out boldly and walked ten steps in all directions, his brilliance illuminating the ten corners of the world.
The Realm Membrane beneath their feet quaked!
The boy then pointed one finger toward the Realm Sea and another toward the Realm Membrane, murmuring:
"Above earth and below heaven, only I am... uh, uh!"
Whoosh—
A Yellow Hand shot out and clamped over the boy's mouth!
The bare-butt kiddo immediately became agitated, hugging the hand tightly while his legs flailed wildly. But having just emerged, he stood no chance of escaping the formidable grip of this hand and could only glare at Wang Ba with clear, furious eyes.
In that instant, the divine atmosphere of a Great Power descending was shattered entirely.
Wang Ba found himself breaking out in a cold sweat.
"You've got some guts..."
He eyed the bare-butt kiddo, the beginnings of a headache emerging.
For the first time, Wang Ba experienced a wave of exasperation toward his own incarnation.
As a cultured man, Wang Ba was well aware of the past phenomenon when the Buddha descended to the mortal realm. This incarnation inherited Wang Ba's memories and was cognizant of this lore, yet still had the audacity to mimic such an occurrence upon its emergence.
If the Realm Sea truly harbored the Buddha's presence, wouldn't such mimicry make an unwarranted enemy?
Granted, the Buddha likely wouldn't care, but it went wholly against Wang Ba's lifelong philosophy of keeping a low profile.
"Mph, mph..."
The bare-butt kiddo frantically clawed at the Yellow Hand covering his mouth.
Wang Ba hesitated briefly but relented enough to loosen his grip, immediately hearing the kid's exasperated voice:
"Come on now, we didn't prepare or have anything fancy for the big entrance, just wanted to be a little flamboyant—what's the harm in that? I mean, given our connection, it shouldn't lead to all this trouble! Even if Master Buddha knew I borrowed from him a bit, he'd probably thank me for..."
"Uh—uh!"
Wang Ba cut him off without hesitation, once again silencing him with the Yellow Hand.
Suspicion clouded Wang Ba's face deeply.
Was this... truly his incarnation?
Weren't incarnations supposed to inherit a portion of their original personality?
The Ice Daoist and Daoist Yuanci had balanced personas: one cold, one slightly more emotional, but both undeniably normal.
So how had this chatterbox anomaly suddenly emerged?
"I'm not like this either!"
He had nearly retorted aloud when Wang Ba's expression subtly changed, his gaze sweeping toward the distant horizon. In a low tone, he commanded:
"Enter the Realm, now!"
Without a moment's delay, he hurled the Spirit Beast Bag toward the Membrane Eye of the Realm Membrane.
Among the six divine beasts, the most timid, Ding Twenty-two, shivered instinctively, shrinking its enormous serpentine body down to the size of a toothpick before darting into the Spirit Beast Bag within the Membrane Eye.
The other divine beasts reacted slightly slower but sprang into action without hesitation, transforming into streams of light and entering the bag as well—a maneuver Wang Ba had rehearsed many times before.
Wang Ba firmly grasped the bare-butt kiddo and quickly entered the Membrane Eye of the Realm. He then collected the Spirit Beast Bag and leapt deeper into the realm!
Soon after, the Yellow Hand spread out, transforming into a round sphere that enveloped both Wang Ba and the bare-butt kiddo, shielding them from the terrifying pull emanating from Xin Yuan's fleshly body!
With urgency, Wang Ba turned his focus to the material remains of Master Xin Yuan's form.
There, upon the chest of the lifeless body, a chillingly deep cavity began to stir slowly.
Even through the minute opening, an aura brimming with wrathful, tempestuous energy poured forth uncontrollably, accompanied by clear roars of outrage.
Yet despite its violent attempts, the World Eater remained unable to breach the cavity's boundary and, before long, disappeared entirely from sight.
"A Class VI World Eater..."
Sensing the fading presence, Wang Ba withdrew his gaze, his expression calm with little turbulence.
