Living in a Frog World (Amphibia AU)

Chapter 41: Chapter 39: Part 2 Chapter 16: A Friend of Iron

Responsibility is a concept that Frank knew too well, and it's one that he doesn't take lightly. Even as a kid, he knew that when he was given a task, it was for a reason. He was responsible for his schoolwork, taking care of his baseball equipment, and looking after his grandmother when he moved in with her and worked for her. Even in prison, he had his responsibilities. More responsibilities were put on his shoulders when he was sent to Amphibia. He keeps his girlfriend safe, keeps Marcy from getting herself killed, and makes sure the Plantars don't starve to death and don't get killed by monsters. It was quite maddening how much was being placed on the shoulders of this 13-year-old boy. Sometimes, they made it easy on him.

However, one did not make it easy. Not at all.

"This is so great," exclaimed the rambunctious Polly.

She was with Frank and the others as they went into town on Bessie. While she and Frank were in the back with Sprig and Anne, Marcy and Hop Pop were in the front seat, driving the snail. The couple sat close together, Frank's arm wrapped around Anne as she rested her head on his shoulder. Both smiled, cherishing the moment they shared. Despite all their struggles, Frank looked forward to these times when they could relax together.

"Tell me about it," Frank said, kissing Anne on her head. "Bright day. My favorite gal in my arms."

"Ew! Not that!" Polly said, making a grossed-out face. "I mean, it's our first day without responsibilities in forever! So, what are we going to do?"

Hop Pop let out a short burst of laughter. "Ha! You'll see," he said, pulling out in front of the seed store.

"Oh, no!" Polly cried in dismay.

"Yep!" Hop Pop said as he and Marcy jumped off.

However, Polly wasn't going to have any of it. "Oh, come on! Don't worry, Marcy," said the young girl tadpole, turning to the Taiwanese girl, hoping she would be on her side. "We don't have to go into the boring old—"

"This is so cool," Marcy said with a big smile on her face, beaming at the store's sign. "A store just for seeds? Boy, we could be there for hours!"

"Don't tempt me!" Hop Pop said with a cheeky smile before he and Marcy started laughing together.

"Wow, you guys are really into seeds," said Frank, looking at them with a raised eyebrow.

"How could you not?!" Marcy exclaimed, throwing up her arms. "The humble seed is a magnificent thing. So much potential for growth!"

"One of the rare things in life where you actually get out what you put in! It's beautiful!" Hop Pop said. Laughing, he and Marcy turned and headed inside the store.

Anne waved at them. "Have fun in there!"

"Yeah, we're good here in the wagon," Sprig added.

"Don't talk to strangers," Frank added.

Before walking through the door, Hop Pop stopped and looked at the kids. "Oh, and look after Polly, you three," he told his grandkids before shutting the door behind him.

With her grandfather going to be busy for who knows how long, Polly smiled mischievously. "Perfect. Now that the nerds are gone, do you guys want to go make mischief," she asked, thinking she'd have Frank, Anne, and Sprig on her side.

Frank grabbed her and put the tadpole back in the wagon. "Nope, you're going to stay here and do nothing," he said sternly.

"Aw, what?!"

"You can stay with us and…" Frank looked around before noticing what Sprig and Anne were doing. "Watch these two play against each other in RoboRing: World Tour?"

The two turned to see Sprig holding Frank's phone close to Anne's. With their phones connected wirelessly, they played a fighting game. "Ha!" Anne cheered over her victory. "Victory is mine!"

"Oh, hell no!" Polly yelled, pulling herself out of Frank's hand. She landed in front of Anne and pushed the Thai girl's phone away to look at her. "Come on, Anne. Girl's day out. Let's go crazy!"

However, instead of agreeing with her, Anne surprised Polly by saying, "You know, in the past, I would have said yes, but I think I'm getting a little too old for that nonsense."

"Sorry, Polly," said Sprig. "But me and Anne have changed. We're different now."

"Some of us even sound different."

"What?"

"Nothing."

Polly looked at her brother and friends with a raised eyebrow. "So…no one wants to cause trouble with me," she said, thinking that it was the strangest thing not to want to cause mischief.

"Sorry, Polly," Frank said, sitting back down in the wagon and pointing at her. "And in case you didn't hear, we're responsible for you."

"Boo!"

"Oh, boo yourself," he told her, leaning back in the wagon. "Look, this is something that you'll have to learn how to do. When my grandfather died, no one was there to help Grandma. And because I was no longer accepted at my old school, I decided to take care of her."

Looking away with a look of sadness, Frank wondered for a moment if his grandmother was okay and if she was still alive. The thought of coming back home, only to find out that she'd died while he was away, wasn't something he could live with. It happened with his grandfather, and Frank wasn't going to allow it to happen again. Not if he could do something about it.

While Anne leaned on Frank to comfort him, and Sprig looked at him with empathy, his sister had a different reaction. Polly, however, wasn't focused on comforting him.

"Wait, so you… chose to have responsibilities," Polly asked. Once again, it was a decision that was alien to her.

"Trust me, you'll understand one day when you have someone to look after," Frank said.

"Death first!"

"Whatever, man. Either way, we're responsible for you," said Frank.

Polly groaned and turned away. This was so unfair. She was supposed to have fun; that's what she did—do her own thing and not care about anything. But there she was, being restricted all because they didn't want to get in trouble. If she wanted to have fun, she needed to get rid of the tools. And that's when a mischievous grin formed on her face. "

You three are responsible for me, huh," she asked before hopping up on the edge of the wagon. "So, I guess that means that you're accountable for THIS!"

Before Frank, Anne, and Sprig could stop her, Polly jumped toward the seed shop, traveling great distances before landing on a large sack of seeds. She sent them flying everywhere, stabbing into the ground, crashing into the building, and shattering the window.

"POLLY!" Frank yelled.

"What the—" yelled the owner of the shop before he stuck his head out of the window. He looked around and saw the mess. Pulling himself back into the shop, he stumped to the door, making the ground rumble, before kicking the door open. "Who's responsible for this?!"

Polly pointed to the humans and her brother and said, "They are!"

The yellow frog's face turned red. "You three! Get over here and clean this up!"

"We're sorry!" Sprig said as he and the humans jumped out and rushed over.

Seeing that her plan worked, Polly laughed and hopped out of the sack. "Later, losers," she said, running away from the mess she made.

"HEY!" Frank shouted, angry. But she was too far gone to hear or care. He turned to Anne. "I better go after Polly before she causes trouble."

"What?!" exclaimed Anne. "You're just gonna leave us to clean up this mess?"

"Would you trust her on her own?"

"...Fine, go after her. But I'm not letting go, mister," said Anne, poking him in the chest, making Frank nervous. That was until his girlfriend turned her head and taped her right cheek with a cheeky smile. "You're gonna have to pay the toll~."

Getting what she was implying, Frank rolled his eyes and shook his head with a smile before kissing her on the said cheek. "Te veo luego mi amor, que tengas un buen día," he said before turning to pursue the little polliwog.

"You too..." the girl said with a loving sigh, her hand resting on the cheek that her boyfriend had blessed with his kiss.

"Aww... that's so sweet," Sprig said, finding it adorable.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, love doves and whateva! Now, get back to picking up my seeds!" The store owner shouted.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry!" The two say in a hurried unison.

However, birds flew down and began pecking at the seeds, Anne and Sprig. "Not the eyes, not the eyes!" Anne screamed as she tried to scare the birds away.

When Frank caught up with Polly, she was climbing out of the fountain in the center of town. Apparently, she had tried to make a big splash. When that didn't work, she attempted to steal a beetle pie cooling on the bakery's window ledge.

"Maldito mocoso," he growled, marching over to her with intent.

"Argh!" Polly strained, not knowing that Frank was coming for her. "Curse these puny arms."

Suddenly, a hand roughly seized her and lifted her off the ground. Polly screamed in shock before she spun around to see Frank's furious expression. "What the hell is your problem?" he growled at the young frog.

"You and how you're holding me," Polly said. "Let me go!"

"Not until you stop being a brat," snapped Frank.

Polly gasped at him, looking at her human brother in complete offense. "Wha...I…wha…I don't…Me?! A brat?!"

"Yes! You just made a big mess, blamed us, and ran away, all because you wanted to cause trouble," Frank said angrily before Polly pushed his hand off her head. Dropping to the ground, Polly pointed at him.

"Well, what do you expect? I want to be rambunctious! I'm a kid," Polly said.

"So am I, but I don't intentionally stir up trouble just to do it," Frank told her, looking at Polly with disappointment. "Polly, you can't just go around causing trouble because you want to. There are consequences to your actions."

Polly scoffed. "No, there's not," she said. "That's just something grown-ups say to keep kids in line. But not me. I'm too free! HAY!" She whacked an empty can, which landed on top of a large pile of trash sitting outside of the restaurant.

Frank was about to scold her some more, to tell her that she would have to grow up and take responsibility.

Suddenly, before he could talk, the trashbags shuffled.

This caught Frank and Polly's attention. They looked at the pile of ripped trash bags, bones, and uneaten food, carefully examining the junk. At first, there was nothing.

But then they saw a pair of glowing eyes. Frank and Polly gasped when they saw them.

What they didn't know was that it was the robot that had been following them from the Ruins of Despair. Realizing that he'd been seen, he ducked back down at the pile of trash.

"What the heck," Polly asked.

"Stay behind me," Frank ordered the young tadpole, positioning himself between the robot and Polly. He drew his scythe and raised his shield. "Who's there?!"

Suddenly, the robot emitted two bright beams from its eyes at the pair. Polly screamed while Frank stared at the light in stunned silence, observing as it emerged from the pile of trash, showcasing its large, bulky body to the human and the frog.

"Oh, my frog! A monster!"

"Stay back!" Frank yelled, standing ready to fight. However, instead of attacking, the robot sounded frightened and took the same stance as he did.

Frank stared at the robot in shock, unable to believe what he saw. Without thinking, he lowered his scythe and rosed up from his slight squat. The robot emulated his actions. The moment caused Frank to retake his stance, ready to fight. Only the machine didn't attack and mimicked him again.

Confused, the Hispanic boy looked at Polly. She shrugged, just as confused as he was. So, Frank then turned back to the robot, retracted his shield, and put away his scythe. Both the robot and the human boy stood normally in front of each other. It was time to see if he would mimic him at everything.

First, they leaned toward each other, pulled back, and then stepped closer. They leaned back again and rested their hands on their chins, pondering what to make of one another. They turned around and glanced over each other's shoulders (or, in the case of the robot, turned his head 180 degrees), then turned back, finger guns aimed at each other. They saluted and looked away from one another. Glancing back, Frank raised his right hand while the robot raised its left. They mirrored each other as they waved. Then, they crossed their arms and kicked their legs as if they were performing a Russian folk dance. Turning back around to face away, they slowly turned to face each other again. They struck scary poses, balanced on their toes like ballerinas, pointed at each other like The Evil Monkey, and finally broke into a silly dance.

"Ha! You clown. You're copying him," Polly exclaimed with a smile, laughing at the two of them.

This made the robot laugh a distorted chuckle with her. Its head bobbled up and down, exposing the circuitry, wires, and tubs under its head.

"Whoa, your laugh is horrifying. I love it!"

Stopping the games, Frank walked around the bot with wide eyes. "I…I don't believe it. It's a robot," he said in disbelief. "It's a God damn robot."

"A what?"

"A robot. We have them all over back home. They're machines designed to do whatever we want. But this…" He picked up the robot's left arm and examined it, noticing its flexibility and strength. "This is way more advanced than anything I've ever seen," he said as he released the robot.

It was truly a marvel of engineering, one of many in this world. Most were simple contraptions, yet highly impressive in the medieval world of Amphibia. However, one place stood out above the rest: the technologically advanced factory beneath the Ruins of Despair.

"Hold on a second," Frank said, discovering the link between the ruins and the robot.

"What's up," asked Polly.

"Back at the Ruins of Despair, Anne, Sprig, and I stumbled upon an underground factory equipped with an advanced computer that controlled it. We stopped it before it could harm Hop Pop, but it was already constructing something," Frank explained to the young girl, gazing at the robot that was looking back at him. "I believe this thing was what got built."

"What? No way! And they followed us all the way home? That must have been hundreds of miles," Polly said.

"We don't know what it's capable of," Frank said, turning back to the robot. "Alright, robot. Uh…what is your name? Do you have a serial number?"

No response came from the machine.

"Okay…what about a primary objective?"

Again, it didn't answer.

"Can you talk?"

No answer.

Frank sighed and said, "Okay, let's try a different question. Did you really follow us?"

This time, a response came in the form of a nod.

"Alright, at least we're making progress," Frank said, contemplating the robot with his hand on his chin.

Polly intervened and said, "Oh, come on, Frank. If he was just made, then he's just a big tadpole." The tadpole looked up at the robot and waved her flipper. "I'm Polly, by the way."

The robot mimicked her movement and waved at her.

"Right, so what the heck are we gonna do about this thing," Frank asked.

"Well, first, we can't keep calling him a thing. He needs a name," Polly said, approaching the robot.

It took a moment for her to climb up the leg and then the air before arriving on top of its shoulder.

"Well, you're a robot, just like Frank said, except you're more like a frog," she said, with the bot blinking and its lids turning at the same time. Polly then gasped when the name came to her. "I will call you…Frobo."

Frobo happily performed a short dance, balancing himself on one leg, spinning his head, and extending his arms out. However, he hit Frank in the chest with his left arm, sending him to the ground.

When he landed, he slid against the ground on his back before coming to a stop. Looking up at the sky with wide eyes, the air knocked out of his lungs.

"Ow…"

Polly wasn't all that concerned about him and laughed for herself. "I know, I know. I'm a genius. So what else can you do?"

The robot grabbed her and placed her down on the ground.

Frank was sitting up when he saw Frobo reaching down and digging into the dirt beneath Stumpy's. He then watched, his eyes filled with shock and awe, as Frobo lifted the restaurant into the air, extending his arms to raise it high above the swamp's canopy. It had risen so high that it would have been halfway to the clouds if his arms hadn't reached their limit.

Wally felt the ground shift slightly as he drank his morning beer. It was probably just another minor tremor. Sitting by the window, he heard cawing and opened his eyes. He spat out his juice when he saw a flying fish (a fish with wings) passing by.

"No more for me, thanks," he said, putting his cup down.

Frobo placed the restaurant back down as Polly exclaimed with awed laughter. "Whoa! I don't believe this. I have my frog, damn sidekick!"

"Okay, okay, that's enough," Frank groaned as he stood back up. Looking at the robot with suspicion and caution.

"But…"

"No buts, just listen to me," Frank said, gazing at Polly with seriousness. "We can't allow Frobo to be seen by anyone else until we know he's safe. I'm going to get Anne and Sprig and bring them here. In the meantime, you're the one who's going to look after him. I don't care if you think responsibility isn't a big deal; you're going to step up and be the one responsible for keeping him out of trouble."

Frank picked up Polly. "Now, Polly, listen to me. Do not, under any circumstance, do anything to cause trouble," he said, poking her under her chin.

Frank placed her on the ground. He was still looking at her with suspicious eyes, pointing at her, as he started backing away from her.

"Ok? I mean it, Polly. Do not cause trouble with Frobo. Understand?"

For Polly, this wasn't far at all. She wasn't supposed to have any responsibilities. She was only a kid. But here she was, being told to stay out of trouble and to be responsible. However, Polly soon realized she had an opportunity. If Frank was going to be gone for a few minutes, that meant she had a few minutes to do what she wanted with Frobo.

"Alright, Frank. I'll be responsible for looking after Frobo," she said with her flippers behind her back. Looking all innocent and cooperative. If only Frank knew her limbs were crossed like fingers.

"Good. I'll see you glubbos later," Frank said, walking away.

The moment he was far enough away, Polly turned to Frobo with a mischievous smile. "Frobo, how'd you like to have some fun?"

And so it was. First up on the list was getting that pie Polly wanted.

"Ooh, pie," Mrs. Croaker said, opening the door and walking into the bakery.

As soon as the door closed, the duo strolled across the shop. Perched on Frobo's head, Polly glanced around to check if the coast was clear. They were completely alone, meaning no one would witness them stealing the pie.

"Hey, Frobo, grab that beetle pie for me," she asked.

He extended his arm toward the pie. However, instead of grabbing it, he slammed his hand down onto the pie, splattering it everywhere. Mrs. Croaker emerged, screaming with jelly and bits of beetles all over her face.

However, she stopped to taste the jelly. "Oh, hey, it's cherry."

"Run, Frobo!" Polly yelled in a panic. Jumping off her new friend, she curled up into a ball and rolled away like a certain blue hedgehog. Following her example, Frobo does the same. Curling his body into a ball and rolling away.

Next was parkour, which Polly learned about by watching videos on Anne's phone. No day of irresponsibility would be complete without jumping off obstacles, so she led him to a wooden post with arrow signs next to a mailbox. Two arrows pointed to Mallard and Minnow, and a candle lantern sat at the top.

"Hey, check this out," she said to Frobo.

The young tadpole began jumping up and landing on top of the mailbox. Bouncing off it, she snatched the minnow arrow and flipped herself up and over, landing on top. "Whoo-hoo! Ha!" Polly cheered, jumping off, bouncing off the mailbox, and landing on the ground. Jumping up, she gave her new mechanical friend a high-five.

"Whoo! Your turn."

Frobo jumped. Oh, he jumped already.

Polly watched as he shot himself high into the air before coming back down. He landed and destroyed the road sign and the mailbox, with the wooden post snapping in half and breaking a villager's window.

With a smile, the robot walked to Polly, hand held up to be given a high-five.

"Oh, a bit of, uh, property damage there," Polly said, giving him a high-five that made a metallic clank. The young girl let out a little giggle as she nervously wondered if anyone would be mad.

That answer came when they heard sirens wailing and red and blue flashing lights.

"Oh, shoot! Frobo, it's time to fro-go!" she yelled, starting to hop away.

Frobo, however, grabbed her and picked her up. Running down the street at high speed as he placed Polly back on his head. Realizing that she was riding him again and seeing just how fast he was going, the girl laughed gleefully.

Extending an arm out, Frobo grabbed the roof's edge of a house and himself and Polly off the ground.

Polly cheerfully screamed as Frobo swung himself from roof to roof. Landing on one before continuing on, jumping off one roof, and landing on another. All while the little tadpole girl on his head had the time of her life.

The fun would end when Frobo landed in the town square. "Whoo!" Polly cheered, throwing up her flippers. The robot threw up his arms, too. Balancing himself on his right leg.

"I don't know what Frank was so worried about. Taking care of someone is easy. Serves him right for calling me a brat," she said.

Wanting to prove further that he was wrong to call her a brat, Polly looked around. And that's when she saw the pool with the statue of the town founder.

"All right, Frobo," she said with excitement in her eyes. "Time to enter the splash zone."

Laughing, she jumped off her new friend and landed in the pool. Making a bigger splash than she did last time.

"Come on, buddy. Your turn," Polly said.

Frobo's eyelids blinked and rotated. In a snap, he retracted his limbs back into his body, and two thrusters popped out of his back. They roared to life, blue fire blasting him off the ground. In the air, he rolled into a ball, spinning as he fell towards the pool and Polly.

His shadow covered her and the pool as Polly looked up at him with fear. Now, seeing the error of her ways. "This might've been a mistake."

Polly would have died if she hadn't gotten out of the pool. The pool and statue weren't so lucky. The pool was destroyed in a massive explosion of dust as water shot up into the air. When it came crashing down, it flooded the town, washing away every frog around it, sending debris everywhere, and destroying the shops and homes of Wartwood.

Groaning in pain, Polly, bruised and soaked, lay on the ground next to a cheering Frobo.

When her witts came back to her, Polly saw what her responsibility caused. "Oh, no!"

All of the buildings around the town square were soaked and exhibited damage. The tea shop had the statue stuck on its second floor. Loggle's shop had a fire billow from inside. All of the weapons that Indy and Rivet made were all ruined.

Suddenly, the swinging doors of the barber shop slammed open, and Toadstool marched out, looking angry and with a new hairdo. Thanks to Toadie's skills as a barber.

"Hey! Can't a guy try a new hairstyle in peace?" he yelled. Then he saw Frobo and gasped. "Sweet, sassy molassy. What is that?"

"It's some kind of hulking monster," said Wally as he and the other townsfolk ran over to investigate what had destroyed their town.

"Good gravy," Felicia said.

"Look at that," said Indy in astonishment.

Rivet nodded. "Yeah, it's awesome!" he exclaimed with a big grin on his face. The young inventor wanted nothing more than to get down into the crater and see exactly what made the machine tick. "I've never seen a machine like it!"

"Back up, boy," said Indy, pulling his adopted son back.

"But, master, it's a…I don't know what it is," Rivet admitted.

"It's some kind of metal abomination."

"Well, whatever it is, it destroyed the fountain," said Toadstool.

Knowing exactly where this was going to lead, Polly gasped and quickly tried to explain to everyone. "No, no! He's not dangerous. He's just a big, sweet dum-dum," she said quickly and urgently. "Frobo, show them. Do a trick."

Frobo showed a trick by firing a pair of lasers from his eyes, which blew up a wind vane and took most of the roof with it. Everyone screamed when they saw the destruction the robot caused.

"Gadzooks!" Toadstool yelled.

"Quick! We gotta destroy it," Indy yelled, pulling out a sledgehammer. "Rivet, arm the town."

"Right!" Rivet saluted and ran into the shop.

Running back out, he carried an arm-full of weapons from swords, axes, and spears. He threw it into the air. Everyone caught a weapon. Now, they had an instrument to exact their revenge.

"No, wait! Stop!" Polly yelled, but they all ran past her. "I told you he was harmless. Now, back off."

Suddenly, a foot kicked her, making her roll one turn.

In any other situation, she would be furious and attack the person who did it. However, she instead rubbed the side of her head and said, "Wow, you really kicked me there."

"Oh, whoops. Sorry, Polly," said the frog.

But there was no forgiveness from Frobo. The moment he heard Polly getting her, it was as if a flip was switched. First, he looked at Polly as she rubbed the side of her head. Seeking out the one responsible, he looked at the frog that did it.

At that moment, Frobo's system went into combat mode. All of these frogs were going to attack him, meaning they were threats. And they've just hurt Polly. Meaning that they'd just launched the first attack. Polly wasn't going to be safe until the danger was eliminated. Switching all systems to battle mode, his eyes turned red. Taking an attack stance, his fingers turned to claws, and Frobo let out a mechanical roar. Frightening everyone in the mob.

Frobo's eye fired laser beams at the barber shop, creating an explosion that destroyed the front of the building. Fire billowed out of it as everyone looked at the destruction in shock and fear.

"Welp, that ain't good," Toadstool said.

The robot then jumped into the air and rolled into a ball. Spinning rapidly, he fell towards the crowd, sending everyone running and screaming. He slammed into the ground, creating a crater, before standing back up and continuing the attack.

"Hold still," Frank said, pulling out the last of the feathers from Anne's hair. Together, the couple and Sprig were walking away from the shop after finally cleaning up the mess that Polly made.

"Finally, done cleaning up," Anne said, miffed after what Polly did. "Now, let's find Polly. Gonna give that girl such a pinch."

And thoughts of that pinch were dashed when frogs ran past them, screaming for their lives. One of them being Felicia.

"Felicia, where's the fire," Frank asked.

"Ask her!" Felicia yelled, pointing at Polly. The young frog hopped over to her family and friends.

"Polly, what the hell did you do," Frank asked, looking suspiciously at her.

Polly tried to form the words, but before she could formulate the sentence, Sprig saw what was going on. "Wha... What is that thing?!"

Frank and Anne looked up from Polly and gasped in shock. Frobo was still on his rampage, destroying buildings with his laser eyes as everyone ducked for cover.

"Is that some kind of crazy frog robot?" Anne exclaimed.

"It's Frobo!" Frank said, looking at Polly. "Polly, what happened? You were supposed to keep him out of trouble!"

Polly's eyes turned away. "Uh…"

"¡Maldita sea, Polly Plantar!"

"Look out!" Anne screamed and pushed him down.

"WHOA!" Frank yelled when he hit the ground with Anne on top of him. Both of them nearly lost their heads when Frobo's laser slashed by, cutting into the stone wall behind them.

"We've got to stop him before he hurts anyone," Frank said.

"Way ahead of you," Anne said, pulling out her tennis racket while Sprig pulled out his slingshot.

"No, wait! Guys!" Polly protested, but it was already too late.

Anne and Sprig were charging at the robot, who had cornered a group of townsfolk with their backs to a wall. Both master and apprentice blacksmiths stood in front of them, ready to protect them from the killing machine looming over them.

Sprig swiped up a rock, loaded it into his slingshot, and pulled back on the rubber band. Letting it fly to hit the back of Frobo's head.

The robot turned his head around to see the girl and frog charging at him.

Roaring, Frobo jumped at them.

Anne quickly jumped back when the robot lashed down, missing getting hit to allow the arm to hit the ground. She landed on the ground, ready to attack as Sprig hit Frobo with another rock. Together, they jumped over his extending arm when he swung at them. She'd gotten better on the road, especially on the road home. Frank and Anne trained in combat throughout the journey to and from Newtopia. She trained with her sword and her bow and how to fight larger opponents. The trick was to get to the head and kill the beast there.

Climbing up his arm, Anne sat on Frobo's head and started whacking at it. She really wished she had her sword. Or Frank's sword or scythe. He had them right now.

Especially when both of his powerful arms grabbed her.

Sprig pulled back his loaded slingshot. "Hey, put her down, you big…"

Frobo threw Anne at him, hitting the young frog boy and sending both of them flying until they hit the ground. When Yamcha was defeated, they posed like Yamcha in the Family Guy death pose.

"Tha... That's all you got?" Anne asked before passing out.

"Anne!" Frank yelled. "That's it!"

"Frank, no!" Polly pleaded.

"Nadie se mete con mi amada," Frank said, pulling out his scythe and sword.

"Please, there's got to be some way."

"Of course there is!" yelled a familiar voice.

They turned to see Indy giving a battle cry as he ran and slammed Frobo in the face with his sledgehammer. However, the robot doesn't feel any discomfort, leaving him only angrier and looking coldly at the blacksmith Toad.

"Oh shi- WAAAAAH!"

WOOSH!

With no time to react, Frobo grabbed Indy by the legs. The toad yelled before he was slammed against the ground. The robot then whipped him against the floor—over and over and over again—and threw the poor guy several meters like a straw doll.

There was no stopping him. Frobo was going to kill everyone, and Polly knew it was all her fault. No one could stop him.

Except perhaps one.

A sword was thrown at Frobo's back, stabbing into him, but now he was going deep into his metal armor. Reaching back, he pulled it out and crushed it in his hands.

When he looked back, he saw that Frank had thrown it. With his girlfriend Sprig injured and the inhabitants of Wartwood in danger, Frank knew he was forced to fight against his new friend despite Polly's insistence.

"All right, screw it," said Frank coldly, with Hellcat in hand, ready for a fight.

"Frank, no!" Polly pleaded again.

But it was too late to stop them.

Frobo charged at him and tried to crush him with his hands, but Frank, being smaller, managed to avoid the attack and hit him with the edge of his shield, staggering him down before upper-cutting him with his scythe. Getting the better of these exchanges, using Frobo's aggression against him.

Out of all of them, Frank wasn't just gifted in combat but a natural. The training helped, but his experience was how he learned everything he knew about fighting. Allowing Frank to continually knock and/or trip Frobo off his feet while evading all of Frobo's attacks.

He then leaped to avoid Frobo's longarm and hit his face with the scythe, staggering him away as everyone was rooting for the Hispanic boy.

"I know you there, Frobo. I'll get you out!"

BLAM!

Charging, Frank then bashed Frobo in the chest with his shield and knocked him to the ground.

"Whoa, he's really doing this!" said Sprig with shock and awe at the fight taking place.

"GET HIM, TIGER!" shouted Anne, cheering for her boyfriend.

Growling, Frobo stood up. The fight continued, with Frobo lashing out and firing red beams at him and Frank dodging and parrying the attacks before cutting at him with his blade.

That was until Frobo managed to disarm Frank of the hellcat, firing a laser at it and sending it flying out of his hands.

"Will you just calm down!? I don't want to hurt you, but you're not giving me a choice!" Frank said angrily as he avoided one other of Frobo's punches and bashed him in the chest with his shield a few times, making the machine stagger around.

Seeing his chance, Frank leaped at Frobo and climbed onto his back.

"There's got to be some kind of off switch," Frank said, frantically looking for one.

But Frobo didn't have any, and he wasn't going to let the boy find an alternative. Reaching back, he grabbed Frank and threw him on the ground.

Gasping for air when it was knocked out of him, Frank grunted in pain. Seeing Frobo raising his foot, the boy rolled out of the way before the robot crushed him.

Frank picked up the scythe and glared at Frobo. He had to stop him, and if the robot weren't going to calm down and listen to him, he'd have to put him down.

He leaped at Frobo, but suddenly….

CLANG!

This time, Frobot stopped it with his hand and held Frank above the ground. Anne, Sprig, and everyone else watching leaned forward, shocked by what they saw.

Frobo snarled angrily as he stood up, and Frank laughed nervously. When he saw the robot's fist closing, he didn't expect what was to come.

"Uh-oh," Sprig said.

POW!

Frank yelled in agony when Frobo's metal fist punched him away. Sending him flying across the town's open space. He was only airborne for a few seconds before bouncing off the ground and tumbling across the center of Wartwood. Making his cap fall off.

"FRANK! NO!" screamed Anne.

On the ground, Frank writhed with pain as he clenched the arm on which his shield gauntlet was on. Had it not been for him thinking quickly and deploying his retractable shield when he did, Frank would have been a dead man.

Frobo immediately leaped after him, landing in front of him before stepping on his chest.

"AAAAAAH!" Frank yelled in absolute pain. He looked up and saw the robot raising his fist. Frank quickly deployed his shield again before Frobo started pummeling him angrily.

Each punch from Frobo pushed Frank into the ground. Left-right-left-right, there was no stopping him. And sooner or later, Rivet's shield, no matter how great it was, was going to give out and break. Frank tried to think of something, anything to beat Frobo.

"Leif!" Frank strained a yell as he was pummelled. His mind hazed, and his body wanted to quit.

But then, each time Frobo punched him, Frank caught a glimpse of a vision. Each punch gave him a new flash of vision.

POW!

Amphibia was in ruin, and her resources were exploited.

POW!

The Music Box, with all its stones charged, was opening.

POW!

There was a malicious mural that Frank couldn't see in full, but he saw death in it. A fire burned everything, and a large figure held up the box.

POW!

The Castle was flying in the sky over the city of Newtopia.

POW!

The same image that Frank saw in the cave.

POW!

The moon was coming down to destroy the world of Amphibia.

POW!

And then, as if he were a volcano about to explode, his Calamity powers were finally activated, with his eyes glowing red and his hair standing up reddish. Like an instinctual defense mechanism, Frank suddenly stood up when the robot pulled back his fist and threw it down at him again.

BOOM!

Frank blocked that attack and sent Frobo back with a burst of Calamity! The impact was so powerful that it threw Frobo backward onto the ground.

Everyone, including Anne and Sprig, watched in shock. Frank's energy was different from the last time; this time, it was much stronger.

Still maintaining his power, Frank glared at the robot as Frobo stood up. Shaking off the image he had received, the machine turned around, and the two faced each other, waiting for who would strike first.

And then the two charged at each other, leaping to attack. Frank, seeing with pure energy, was faster and then blasted Frobo with a massive Calamity Punch!

BOOM!

The shockwave was so big that it cracked the ground beneath them, sending everyone running for cover. Frobo, with a large dent in his chassis and sparks coming from him. This time, something was definitely damaged.

The dust settled, and everyone was speechless about what they saw. Frank looked at himself, a little surprised, not realizing that he'd activated his powers and that small charge of Calamity was crackling through his veins.

"About time, Leif," he said, smirking.

The sounds of winding machinery drew Frank's attention back to Frobo, who stood up weakly. His eyes were glowing, and he was about to launch a laser beam. Frank walked towards him, wanting to finish him off before anyone else got hurt.

He picked up Hellcat's Claw. "This ends now!"

Suddenly, Polly hopped in between both of them.

"EVERYBODY STOP!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Frank gasped and stopped. Seeing his new best friend put herself in front of him had also halted Frobo. He canceled his laser beams and shook his head, turning them back to the normal yellow color.

Seeing that he was back to normal, Frank, overusing his powers, returned to normal and fainted.

"Frank!" Anne yelled, running over to her boyfriend with Rivet, Indy, and Sprig.

Frobo saw this and immediately felt guilt. However, he was stopped when Polly hopped in front of him. "Frobo, I know you're just trying to protect me," she said as the robot knelt before her. "Everything you did today was because I asked you to. And now I'm asking you to stop."

Staring down at the girl tadpole, the machine blinked his eyes.

"Po... Po... Polly," he said with a smile.

The moment she heard him speak, Polly's face lit up as she gasped, stars formed in her eyes, and tears leaked from them. "Frobo, your first words."

Toadstool then walked over to ruin the moment. "Well, now that it's calmed down, let's tear this thing apart!"

"Never!" Polly yelled, putting herself in front of the robot and facing the mob.

"That will not be necessary, Toadstool," Frank said after waking up. He was sitting up with the help of Anne and Indy. "Frobo's not a menace, he's just a machine. One that was only following Polly clearly trouble making orders."

"Yeah, isn't there another way," asked Anne in agreeance with her boyfriend. "Polly seems to really like him.

Even though he understood their stance, Indy chimed in and said to the two kids sternly, "Frank, Anne, in the time that I've lived in this town, I've come to understand that it's no stranger to crazy at this point, but in the time that it's been here, this Frobo thing has been nothing but a menace. Look at all the destruction it caused. These aren't just buildings. They're people's livelihoods. With them gone, they had nothing. And that's just the shops that were destroyed. Someone could have gotten hurt. There got to be someone that needs to pay and be punished."

Hearing this, Polly looked around at all the chaos created by Frobo's rampage. A rampage that was caused all because of her. Polly knew that she was the cause of all this. If it weren't for her, Frobo wouldn't have destroyed the pool and the statue. All because of her selfish desire to have fun and be a troublemaker.

"You're right." she sighed ruefully. "That's why I'll be punished."

Frank was surprised. "Polly?"

"You were right, Frank. I was a brat. I didn't care about anyone or anything but my own fun. I took advantage of Frobo's innocence. This wasn't Frobo's fault. It was mine. I taught him how to do all of this," she said, turning to the townsfolk. "I'm sorry about the damage. I'll do whatever it takes to fix it all up. But leave Frobo alone. He's innocent."

She looked at him.

"Frobo, say you're sorry."

The frog bot bowed his head. "So... Sorry."

For a moment, Frank looked at the purple tadpole in shock. "Wow, Polly, that was the most responsible thing I've seen you do," he said, smiling proudly. He then turned to the town. "If they said sorry, I think they deserve a second chance."

Seeing how everyone was putting down their weapons, Toadstool sighed. "I guess we already accepted two monsters," he said.

"Yep. I mean, what's one more at this point?" Loggle commented as everyone but the humans, Plantar kids, Indy, and Rivet walked away.

Frank rolled his eyes and looked at the damaged robot. "Yeah, sorry I had to rough you up back there," he said, patting his chest.

As everyone was walking away, Marcy and Hop Pop finally finished shopping. They didn't even hear any of the fighting—they were too engrossed in the seeds. Now, they walked out of the seed shop, each with a bag of seeds.

Marcy chuckled happily. "I can't believe they had tomato plant seeds."

"I still think you shouldn't have bought those," said Hop Pop.

Then, he and Marcy finally saw the destruction caused by the robot: the fires in the buildings, the crater where the fountain used to be, and the human-sized robot standing next to Polly.

"Wha... What in tarnation?" Hop Pop exclaimed as Marcy gasped.

"Hey, Hop Pop," said Polly, waving.

"Hey, Marcy, look!" Rivet waved and gestured to the Frobo. "It's a…uh…"

"Robot," Anne said.

"What she said!"

Marcy looked at the robot in front of her in complete shock and awe before she finally spoke. "Oh, my gosh! Is that a robot?!" she squealed, throwing away her sack of seeds at Hop Pop's face and running over to check out Frobo. "Where did it come from? What is it made of? Can I have one?"

"What's a robot," asked Hop Pop, having no idea what to think of the iron frog.

"Too hard to explain," Anne said.

"Speaking of which," Frank said, turning to the blacksmiths. "You think you two can fix him up?"

Indy rubbed his chin while looking at Frobo. "Hmmm…" he hummed. "Well, I've never worked on armor like this before, and I don't even want to know what's going on inside."

"I do!" Marcy and Rivet exclaimed. They gasped and pointed at each other with smiles. "You do?! Yes!"

As the nerdy girl and young frog inventor geeked out over the robot Polly befriended, the little tadpole sheepishly approached her grandfather. "So, I know this is a lot to take in, but can we please keep him," she pleaded with Hop Pop. "I'll be his big sister. I'm ready to take care of someone."

"Wow, what a turnaround," Anne said, impressed with her little frog sister's willingness to commit.

"Uh, I'm not sure, Polly," Hop Pop said, not convinced it was a good idea. He wanted her to be ready for responsibility and happy she wanted to show it. However, the robot was another story altogether. "It sure seems dangerous."

"Any more dangerous than us," Frank asked, placing his scythe on his back.

"Fair point. But I mean, can it do anything useful?"

Polly smiled and pointed at her new friend with confidence. "Show 'em, Frobo."

And show them he did. Frobo turned his hand into a rake and combed the earth. He then pulled out simple fence poses and planted them, holding his arms over the dirt and opening them to release water. He then quickly gloried a bunch of flowers, proving to the old frog that he was going to be the best farmhand ever.

Hop Pop's eyes widened with excitement. "Ooh! Welcome to the family, Mr. Frobo!" he exclaimed with a giant smile.

Smiling back, Frobo offered his hand and picked up the old frog, who picked up his granddaughter.

"So, do anything else?" he asked as Marcy looked over the machine with Rivet and Indy. The former two were excited about how the robot worked, while the blacksmith master was more interested in how to fix the armor.

Well, as it turned out, Frobo could also be a toaster. Rotating his head around, the top of Frobo's head opened into two slits, and two perfectly burned toast popped out.

"Don't mind if I do," HP said, grabbing the toast with Marcy.

"It's multigrain," she said as they all started walking home together. Anne and Frank looked at one another, smiled, and held hands. The loving girlfriend leans her head on her amazing boyfriend's shoulders.

However, as they walked together, Frank looked down with a troubled frown. What were those visions that he saw? Were they real? He had a hard time believing they weren't. After all, he could see Leif, and he was sure she was real. Annoying in how she appeared randomly, but still real. She should have been the one that he saw. But she wasn't there. Was she trying to tell him something? He didn't understand what his powers were; other than that, he gave superhuman abilities, which were given to him by the stones. Other than that, nothing.

He wanted to believe he was crazy. That had to be the only examination. But to think that you're crazy is to know that you're sane. If he'd thought everything was okay, Frank knew he was crazy.

This world was getting too weird for him. Giant insects wanting to eat him, talking frogs, and magic were one thing. Machines, computers, and advanced weaponry were another.

"Fr- fr- fr- Frank."

The boy was pulled out of his thoughts as he looked up. Frobo was looking at him with his head turned all the way. Staring at the boy with a smile. At first, Frank was surprised but then smiled at him. At least something good came from the Ruins of Despire. Too bad, he'll have to stay, and he'll have to get his repairs done tomorrow.

Tomorrow, they were going to the Second Temple.
