Limitless Evolution: I’m The Next Dragon God?

Chapter 18: Chapter 18. Chester

Yuki definitely didn't have the mentality of a saint who helped every person he stumbled upon. But he had decided that he would help those he could.

The real question was how to help him.

He asked the question to Dracina.

Dracina replied,

[ Host, the target seems to have had his blood essence drained. A fusion with another bloodline might stabilize his life force. But, please proceed with caution. ]

Yuki nodded. "I will."

He raised his small paw and gently touched the young man's leg as he activated [ Fusion Lab ] to send him there.

A radiant blue light burst out, engulfing the young man.

In the next moment, he vanished.

Inside the cave, Yuki extended his senses in Fusion Lab and found the young man had been successfully transferred. He just fallen unconscious there. Which was perfect. That would keep the existence of the Fusion Lab a secret.

Then, Yuki mentally commanded the system to replicate one bloodline orb from each kind in his archive.

Water Toad (F)

Sky Dragonfly (F)

Nightmare Moth (F)

Bluefang Hyena (F)

He began the fusion in three stages, combining the orbs carefully. And the end result was:

Nightmare Hydra (E)

> A four-winged, amphibious aerial predator with glistening blue chitin, glowing compound eyes, and a toothy, unsettling grin. Its back legs are muscular and webbed for water propulsion, while the front limbs are clawed for close combat. It releases shimmering spore-like dust from its wings to trap enemies in nightmare illusions before delivering a sonic-laced, venomous bite.

Yuki studied the description carefully, and doubt crept into his thoughts.

Would the boy survive a fusion like this?

Even if he did, could he suppress the mutations with just a human bloodline?

Dracina responded calmly to his silent worry.

[ Host, you shouldn't underestimate human bloodline. They are one of the most special races in my knowledge. While they may not be born the strongest, they possess terrifying potential both in body and mind. I suggest you proceed without worry. ]

"You're right, Dracina," Yuki muttered under his breath. His gaze returned to the unconscious human.

"If he dies or mutates... then that's his fate. He asked for power, and I will give it. The rest is no longer my responsibility."

The bloodline orb hovered in the air for a moment before descending into the unconscious young man's body.

The moment it touched his chest, the orb dissolved into shimmering light and began fusing with his cells.

"Ahh!"

A bloodcurdling howl tore from the boy's throat, his limbs twitching violently as the transformation took root.

Yuki watched in silence. Painful as it was, this was part of the process. If the boy survived, he would no longer be the same person.

Just then, a thought crossed Yuki's mind.

"Hey, Dracina. Can't I store the fused bloodline into the Archive from the Fusion Lab, instead of using it up right away?"

Dracina responded plainly,

[ Sorry, Host. That's not possible. However, you can extract the bloodline from the target later. Though doing so would effectively kill them. ]

Yuki sighed, disappointment thick in his voice.

"So you're already crushing my dream of creating a collection of powerful bloodlines just by sitting around and fusing them again and again. I get it. You just don't like your host very much."

Dracina corrected him in her usual calm and sweet tone,

[ Correction: It's not that I don't want to. I am simply not capable of generating infinite energy for powerful fusions. Even if I permitted it, the process would fail due to my current limitations and resource constraints. ]

"Then, how can I get Infinite Bloodlines from the Archive? Doesn't that require your energy?"

[ That is even I have no knowledge of. ]

"Yeah, yeah. I get it. No farming broken bloodlines for now," Yuki muttered with a grumble, his eyes still watching the boy's suffering form.

The transformation was ongoing. The next few minutes would determine the boy's fate.

---

My name is Chester Orlando.

I had everything. A protective father. A gentle mother. A sweet little sister.

We were a happy family of four. All we ever wanted was to spend our days in peace and joy.

But fate mocked our simple wish.

It whispered a cruel truth: true peace does not exist.

And that lesson was paid for in blood.

One day, a Beast Rampage descended on our peaceful little town. They came like a storm. Merciless. Mindless.

My father, my mother, my little sister... they were trampled beneath those monsters. Crushed. Torn apart. Eaten.

There was no help.

No heroes. No rescue.

The so-called superhumans with their flashy powers did not come. They were too busy protecting their own. To them, we were just nobodies. Ordinary people too unimportant to save.

That day, I learned the brutal truth. I was weak. Probably the weakest.

In this world, only power matters.

And what did I do?

I ran like a coward.

I watched my family die and I ran.

I barely survived.

But that survival was no blessing. It was a curse. Every night, I was haunted by the guilt.

By their screams.

By their blood.

Sometimes, I wanted to end myself. But I couldn't do it. I couldn't take my own life.

Because their final words still echoed in my heart.

"Live on, Chester. We're sorry."

Even in their final moments they thought of me. They still wanted me to live.

So I lived.

But not as I once was. I was like a wounded dog, desperately clinging to life.

In that cave, I was just waiting. Waiting to rot.

Until that creature appeared. Small. Strange. Powerful.

It looked at me and asked a single question:

"Do you want a second chance?"

I wanted to say no out of my cowardice. But then I remembered their final wish was for me to live.

So I shall. But not as a powerless, helpless commoner. Not anymore

I asked for power. The same kind of power that tore my world apart.

Because to survive in this twisted world, you have to become part of it.

And I received the power. My God gave it to me.
