Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Brewing Danger!
Yuki sighed inwardly. 'No need to comfort me, little girl. I know I'm weak... but I won't be forever. One day, I'll surpass everyone. Even you.'
As he muttered to himself, a quiet resolve burned in his chest. He walked over to the fallen Thornhide Boar and placed a small clawed paw on its bloodied hide.
Runa tilted her head, puzzled.
"What are you doing, Yuki?" she asked, stepping closer.
But all she saw was the little dragon standing there silently, unmoving, like a statue carved in ice. His eyes shimmered faintly, focused yet distant.
Then, after a few seconds, Yuki pulled back his paw. Whatever he had done, it was finished.
Runa didn't press further. She simply watched him with a curious gaze, sensing something beyond her understanding had just taken place.
Something important.
Something that belonged to the path only Yuki could walk.
In truth, Yuki had extracted two Skills from the Thronehide Boar.
[ Skill: Ironhide Endurance (F) ]
Type: Passive
Effect: Increases User's physical defense slightly and reduces the impact of blunt force damage. Grants a minor boost to stamina recovery during combat.
Remark: "Forged in the wild and tempered by pain, the Thornhide Boar's resilience now pulses in your scales.
[ Skill: Wild Charge (F) ]
• Type: Active
• Effect: Temporarily boosts user's speed and allows a reckless, short-distance dash in a straight line. The first impact deals minor physical damage and may stagger targets.
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Drawback: Slight disorientation after use if not aimed properly.
Remark: The fury of untamed beasts rushes through your veins, but only fools run without aim.

These two were good skills. He decided to fuse with them later.
As for the bloodline, he didn't extract it because doing so would drain the boar's blood essence, making the meat inedible. Worse, the girl might associate him with demonic or devilish forces if she found out.
He didn't want to take that risk.
"Alright, since you won't tell me what you did, let's take this home and eat it. After that, we can go hunting again to grow stronger together."
Yuki moved his cute dragon head up and down, as if agreeing with her plan.
"Ah huh.. So you can understand my language after all," she said with a smile, then bent down and lifted the large carcass with her bare hands.
Yuki's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets after seeing this. Even a grown man would struggle to carry a boar weighing over 70 kilograms. And yet this little girl hoisted it effortlessly.
She was strong. That much, he already knew. But just how stronger?
He needed to find out.
Not just for his own safety, but so he could make informed decisions about his actions around her. Otherwise, one mistake could cost him his life.
"Oh, my skill has finally upgraded," she exclaimed suddenly, surprising Yuki even more.
Noticing the blank look in her eyes and the change in her posture, Yuki came to a chilling realization.
'Don't tell me… they have Systems too? And if so, what kind of System does she have? Is it something universal? Or individual Systems like mine?'
But from what she had told him so far, it seemed that people here used Skills to unleash their powers. And her Skills clearly revolved around metal.
'Could it be a Metal Manipulation skill?' he guessed wildly.
Later, they lit a fire outside the small house. Runa casually used one of her fire-related Skills to spark the flame.
Witnessing this, Yuki sucked in a cold breath.
At that moment, he couldn't help but wonder just what kind of world he had been reincarnated into.
As they ate the roasted meat, the howls and growls of monsters and beasts echoed from the distance. Today, they were more chaotic—far more intense than the previous night.
Runa's face suddenly turned tensed. She materialized a metal spear this time, her expression turning solemn.
"Looks like that Gate is acting up again," she muttered grimly.
"This forest might not survive their rampage either. But where should I go? Mom told me to stay here at all costs. The barrier won't protect me if I wander too far."
Yuki listened quietly, sensing the apprehension in her voice.
'What is she talking about? Gate? Rampage? Just what kind of world is this? And when will I finally be able to speak vocally?'
He tried to force out human words again, but once more, only screeches came from his throat. His vocal cords weren't developed enough yet. Maybe… if he level up more, then he'll finally be able to speak in human tongue.
"You are trying to say something, Yuki?" Runa asked, noticing the baby dragon's unusual noises.
Yuki nodded.
"Oh… but you can't speak. Dragons can't talk to humans, after all. If only I had inherited the Dragon Language skill from Mom, then I might've been able to understand you."
Yuki scratched his head.
'Hm. So her mother is some kind of bigshot who left her here, protected by a barrier. But why? And what danger lies outside?' Yuki quietly pieced together what little he had learned.
'Dracina, do you have any knowledge on this world? And why can't I see her level like the other monsters?'
[ Answer: Negative. Dragon God System doesn't have any records of this world. And you can't see her level because something is interfering with the my basic Appraisal. ]
'I see. That's a disappointment. And I am feeling a bad premonition. It's telling me If I don't get stronger, I might get trampled like a bug soon.'
[ Host should listen to your insticts. A Dragon's instincts can never be wrong. Get away from this place as fast as you can. ]
His heart trembled for some reason hearing Dracina's warning.
The meat was finished. Runa stood and stretched, her little arms flexing with strength that still baffled Yuki.
"Alright. Since we're full, it's time to go hunting again. If that Gate keeps acting up, we need to stock more food, and get stronger too."
Yuki gave a nod. He could feel it as well. The atmosphere had changed suddenly. Something unnatural was stirring in the forest.
The two moved silently through the dense trees, sunlight peeking through the foliage. Yuki kept his senses sharp. Even if he was just a baby dragon, his instincts as a predator were slowly awakening.
Rustle—!
A creature appeared just ahead. It was quadrupedal, slim-bodied, with fur like bristles and glowing blue eyes.
[ Bluefang Hyena – Level 5 ]
[ Extraction Available ]
[ Alert: Group-type monster. Proceed with caution. ]
