Chapter 81: Blood Legion Final Round: Venus vs Felix Von Sanguine
In the next stage, John and Maki, despite being at Level 40 and Level 35 respectively, were eliminated.
The judges, six Commanders of the Blood Legion, gave their verdict without hesitation. According to them, the two lacked the extraordinary talent required to stand among the Blood Legion. Level alone wasn't enough. They needed something more—potential that could shake the battlefield.
Even so, John and Maki remained cheerful. They didn't let the judgment crush their spirits.
Instead, they turned to Ryuzen and Venus with wide grins.
"Go on, Venus, Ryu. You two better save our faces now," John said, patting Ryu on the back with a laugh.
"I'll try, John," Ryuzen replied calmly, his eyes flickering with silent resolve.
"I won't just try," Venus said sharply, stepping forward. "I'll make it happen."
Her voice carried no doubt. It was filled with raw certainty. A wave of pressure spilled from her as she clenched her fists, and Ryuzen felt it clearly.
She was evolving. Fast.
With each battle, Venus was pushing her limits further. That was when Ryuzen realized something unsettling.
He might have accidentally created a monster.
Still, he offered her a word of concern. "Be careful, Venus. Don't ever underestimate your opponents. Trust me, I'm saying this from my own experience."
His sincere words touched her heart, though she didn't let it show on her face.
"I will... but not because you said so," she replied and walked forward with steady steps.
Ryuzen didn't mind the cold edge in her tone. In fact, he was happy. It was the first proper response he had gotten from her in a while.
The wall of silence between them, built on a misunderstanding, was beginning to crack.
---
Under the crimson rays of the descending sun, the final round fo Venus began.
The circular arena carved into the floating deck thrummed with tension. Crowds leaned forward, breath held, as two figures stepped into the battle zone.
One was a girl whose brown eyes shone with determination —Venus. The other was a tall young man in a deep red coat embroidered with silver vines, his long auburn hair tied back neatly, his crimson pupils like drops of blood.
He bowed politely, placing a hand on his chest. "My name is Felix Von Sanguine. Eldest son of House Sanguine, descended from the Crimson Ancestor. It is an honor to cross fists with one who has climbed to the finals with sheer force."
Venus blinked once, expression unreadable. "Venus Versalon. Not a family to boast of. Just strength."
A ripple passed through the audience. Felix smiled, unfazed. "Then let your strength speak, beautiful lady."
The moment the command to begin echoed across the field, Felix moved. His hands sliced the air, leaving crimson trails. Thin blood tendrils formed behind him, writhing like vipers.
[Skill Activated: Blood Threads]
Venus charged forward, the ground cracking beneath her foot. Her gloves gleamed—thick black leather reinforced with Mana veins. She ducked under the first lashing thread, launching a sharp uppercut.
Felix leaned back with grace, just barely evading the hit. "Fast," he murmured.
He countered. A red seal flared beneath his feet and blood erupted like a geyser.
[ Skill: Blood Burst Lance ]
Venus didn't back down. She planted her feet and slammed both fists into the erupting blood, dispersing it like smoke. Her skin shimmered faintly with a Crystal sheen.
She had used [ Crystal Dragon's Transformation ] to gain its defense.
Then she used,
[ Unique Skill: Harvester's Punch ]
Bamg!
The punch shattered the floor beneath Felix's feet. He leapt back, raising a wall of hardened blood to block her.
But her fist broke through it.
"Wow! That girl is seriously tough.."
A gasp echoed from the crowd.
Felix landed with a roll and wiped the blood dripping from his lips. His eyes burned now, no longer calm.
"You are a brute wrapped in gold. I like that," he said, smiling wider than before.
[ Blood Ritual: Crimson Bloom ]
Instantly circles of blood bloomed beneath Venus, trying to bind her legs.
But she didn't retreat. Instead, she stomped down hard, disrupting the circle and launched forward.
Whoosh...
She appeared in front of him in a blink, her fist crashing toward his face.
Felix crossed his arms in defense, but was blown back several meters, skidding across the platform.
"Huff...hufff...."
His breathing grew ragged.
On the other hand, Venus exhaled steam. Her arms had grown faintly red, raw from the blood's acidic properties.
"You're still standing?" she asked coldly.
Felix rose, swaying slightly. "House Sanguine does not fall so easily..."
Snap!
With a snap of his fingers, blood spears rained from above. Venus dodged and weaved, a blur of motion. One grazed her shoulder. Another nicked her thigh.
But she ignored the pain. She had felt worse. Her fists burned hotter now, like miniature suns.
Then she vanished from view.
She appeared behind him mid-air and brought both fists down.
Pow, Pow, Pow...
She punched down continuously without stopping carried by the will of vengeance. And with each punch she grew stronger. More stronger.
The unique skill she had, was almost like a Cheat.
[ Harvester's Punch ]
She landed the final punch on his back.
Bang!
The impact of force shook the platform.
Felix crashed into the ground, a crater forming beneath his body.
He twitched, trying to rise.
Then he stopped.
Because the judges raised their hands.
"Felix Von Sanguine has been defeated."
"Congratulations!" Felix said, still grinning as he fell down with a thud.
Then cheers erupted from the crowd. Venus stood in the center, chest rising and falling, blood dripping from her arms, but her eyes remained firm.
Ryuzen, from the crowd, narrowed his eyes. Her strength… it was climbing at a terrifying pace.
Just then, she turned slightly and looked his way.
Her gaze was saying, I can do it too.
Still, he felt happy for her. So he smiled as he clapped for her.
Seeing his encouraging claps, Venus paused for a second.
"Is he really happy for me, despite how coldly I treated him?"
Her heart trembled for a second, not from shock, but from something unknown.
