Chapter 30: Chapter 30: The Azure Family
"Alright, this should do it right?"
Solan stood Infront of his body mirror, making sure nothing was shivered on his marine uniform.
He'd remembered that Sarah wanted him to dress nicely before taking her leave days prior.
"Yeah this will work" he said taking one last look at himself, putting on his silver helmet.
Despite being a festival where everyone came to enjoy themselves it didn't apply for Solan.
Days prior Sarah had informed that he was to patrol the streets along with Fehler and other guards of the division. But luckily he had managed to dodge the first day of patrol, he had to do something else in the meantime, retreating his jade dagger that Samira had.
Stepping out of his room he was met with the butler alfred already waiting for him with the usual high look of them.
"...Young master Solan, the carriage is waiting...".
"...Is Samira at her family estate?"
Alfred gave a nod, answering his question.
Solan walked down before another pair of maids opened the door before him.
"...Solan, commander Fehler stopped by the manor earlier today... He asked for you while you were sleeping".
Solan's was taken aback. Fehler sure was strict when it came to duty, but knowing how often he let Solan get away with things he couldn't be bothered.
With a slight snicker Solan told
"...If he comes by again tell him to forget about it... I'll go tomorrow".
Solan passed the door, to see the carriage laced with a white/blue schemed interior, Infront was two bulky horses attached with wooden braces to hold them and the driver who of course had the iconic leash.
This specific carriage served as the admiral's transport to get around Soldat. With these going arounds anyone would see it belonged to an superior official within the marines.
-Pop!-
Opening the doors himself Solan entered the carriage, sitting down on the red soft leather cushion around.
The transport was efficient to get around Soldat if you didn't want to waste energy. Soldat isn't very impressive when it came to its width, with at least half an hour walk until you could reach the other side made of more highlands overlooking the sea from the cliffs.
But it's length was ridiculous, Soldat was known for its stretching gulf enough to accommodate more then 200 ships and currently had one of the biggest harbors known in Endeia.
The carriage started making its move, the sound of the coachman unleashing his wrath onto the horses.
"Hiyaa!"
***
After what felt like hours trying to get through the packed street, I finally arrived Infront of Samira's estate. A big manor located east, surrounding the building was a flat flower plain.
A beautiful scene.
the entrance well decorated with walls of flowers in a long line towards the state. In the middle was a cemented fountain, at of the end was a leviathan's head carved out of the cement spilling out water down to the pool.
Solan got off the carriage, landing on the brick surface he fixed his disheveled attire.
"...I'll be waiting here"
Solan continued on after waving off the coachman.
Getting closer Solan took notice of tall building, it was around his master's manor but was definitely bigger by comparison.
It wasn't surprising, Samira kept talking about the pride of her family all the time.
Walking up few stair steps Solan entered without giving it another thought.
Not surprised by the interior it had the white walls with a few golden carvings across them. Infront of him stood a huge space, with a big cushioned stair case splitting from each other the closer you got to the next floor.
Looking right and left Solan was a bit baffled by the four pathways across from him.
-Step step-
A noticeable servant woman carrying serval tea cups and a tea pot onto of a silver plate.
Once she gazed at Solan she flinched, the silver plate almost losing its balance.
"I'm looking for Lieutenant Samira"
The woman stared at Solan, a look of hesitation and caution.
"The young mistress? what reason?"
"I work within the same branch as Samira, she's supposed to give something back to me".
"Is that so?"
The woman eyed him, looking down his feet and to his silver helmet.
She'd probably think he was weird but once she noticed the pair of medals on his uniform she spoke up again.
"The young mistress is in the living roo-".
Solan walked swiftly past her before she could say her last word.
"H-Hey!"
It wasn't needed because Solan had felt an trail of aura on the floor, the same aura that Samira often radiated when using her vessel.
Following the blue trail he was met with a wooden door, the aura went past it which only meant one thing.
"S-Sir! You must wait! She's conversing with her family-".
Not hearing her Solan opened the door immediately. Within a spacious room with couches and window walls overlooking the plain sat Samira and two others.
They all looked at him at his sudden appearance and Solan easily recognized one of the faces.
Former admiral Joseph sat across from Samira, beside him sat another woman. A older woman with long azure hair. similar to the reflection of the bright sea with a few white streaks. despite having slight wrinkles here and there she carried a very youthful apperance.
"Solan?"
Samira's eyes raised in confusion, she hadn't expected to see him inside of her own home.
"...Solan? Sarah's child?"
Joseph said, with the same level of confusion as Samira.
-Bow-
Solan lowered his head with his right hand across his chest. It was common fact to always bow down before an admiral even if they were retired.
"...I came here on personal matters between me and Samira?"
The unfamiliar woman beside Joseph covered her mouth, seemingly interested in the matter but was definitely misunderstanding the entire situation.
"...I came here to retrieve my dagger, Samira forgot to give it back during our recent mission".
Samira understood now why he'd appeared out of the blue.
With a small chuckle Samira spoke with a sarcastic tone
"...You came all the way for the dagger? Well, It's upstairs in my room but I wont be able to do it... As you can see I'm speaking with my parents".
The woman smiled softly waving slightly to Solan.
"...Ah? So that's Samira's mother?"
She seemed awfully kind, she had a bright smile and a genuine look to herself. Experiencing the older memories of the past curse bearer's life it was starting to get easy too read people with just a glance.
The woman seemed polar opposite from Samira's cunning personality, Though it was best to judge after having a genuine conversation.
In an apologetic way Solan spoke
"I see, I'll just head upstairs to get the dagger and I'll be on my way".
Just as he was about to turn around, the older woman spoke
"Why don't you come and enjoy some tea with us?"
Samira looked baffled by her invitation.
"Huh? Why mother-".
"He's Sarah's disciple right?"
"Excuse me, but im very curious about you. I've heard many stories about you...".
She slipped a bit, covering her mouth before saying a bit nervous.
"A-Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Meina Kritanta".
[Meina Kritanta: Mistress of the Kritanta household]
Ah Yes, Solan had forgotten entirely, these people were the ones who raised Sarah after her incident at the seas. In other words she lived with them until her age of coming.
"My husband has talked a lot about you. Your a dedicated member of the Soldat right?"
The pretty woman's smile was all too bright, It was like a divine being blessing him with her kind-hearted presence.
Solan approached the trio closer still standing overlooking the scene.
"Yes, It's been pleasure to serve under Soldat",
"Is little Sarah at her manor?"
'Little Sarah' Solan was a bit struck by the causality of his master's name. They seemed casual about it which made Solan shiver.
Knowing how Sarah would always treat him under training. If He called his master by little he would never imagine what kind of world he was in for.
"...My master is currently at the palace, she's undergoing work with the grandmaster... The only time you'll see her is when the tournament is around the corner".
"Ah, That's disappointing...".
Meina said with her hand on her cheek sulking disappointed.
Samira stared daggers at Solan, with her leg above the other and arms crossed, her finger tapping repeating like she was expecting something.
"...Solan, Its common manners to take off your helmet when your in the presence of nobles" Her voice was steady and calm, though there was a hint of irritation.
Solan turned his head slightly back at Samira.
"Who are you to boss me around bitch"
Clutching onto his helmet taking off the leather straps behind the knight helmet
-Click... Click-
Meina watched in awe one his helmet slid off.
Even Joseph who'd never seen Solan's face before was impressed by his features.
It wasn't of the mainland... maybe closer to those from the Orient.
'Your a handsome young man"
Meina said chuckling to herself. Getting a better look she was stunned to see how young he was. She had heard that little Sarah's disciple was around her second daughter's age but he had an impressive face for his more muscular body.
"...Are you interested in marrying my daughter?" Meina said with a playful smile.
Samira sighed, she was used to her mother's usually antics every so often.
"..Mother, please don't...".
Solan stood silently, several conflicts were going through his head. If he should vomit here or make it outside. The thought of marrying a physco like Samira sent shivers down his spine.
"As much as I appreciate the offer, I'm not focused on those kind of aspects in life yet".
He said lowering his head in respect, showing off the manners he had learned throughout the years.
"Oh? How so?"
"I'm an disciple, following the path of an admiral, I can't manage time between my personal life or work, It might sound rather clique but I follow the life of a true warrior that one day will eradicate Leviathans from the sea".
Joseph watched, his eyebrows raised. At first when he had met Solan years ago during the Serenity meeting in the palace his first impression on him that he was a mysterious child. He never spoke nor did he talk with anyone except for Sarah or grandmaster Lumine during the meeting.
"This kid got some absurd dreams... I'll have to respect that". Joseph said in acknowledgment, his dreams and ambition similar to when he was younger.
