Chapter 15: Cassie beamed
"damn, Mrs Margaret, that was the best and most delicious meal I have ever eaten in my life; scratch that, all your meals are the best meal I have eaten," Cassie said as she rubbed her belly with a satisfied expression on her face.
"Thanks Mrs Margaret, for the meal, it was really delicious," Henry said.
"It was heavenly," Joe chimed in as he let out a little belch.
"It's a shame that the food is finished," Cassie said with regrets on her face.
She looked at her empty plate while letting out a sigh.
"Don't worry Cassie, I will pack some Mac and cheese for you guys and your parents, when you're about to leave," Mrs Margaret said with a reassuring smile.
"Really?" Cassie beamed with Joy .
"Yeah, really," Mrs Margaret said.
"You promise?" Cassie asked with a slightly tilted head.
"I promise," Mrs Margaret responded with a light chuckle.
"Yay, Mrs Margaret is the best, thanks a lot," Cassie said with a wide smile that stretched from ear to ear.
"No need to thank me, we are a family after all," she responded with a warm smile.
"Awwn, that's was kinda sweet," Joe said as he wiped the tears off his eyes.
"Jezz Joe, you're such a softie," Cassie teased Joe.
She was also feeling happy that Mrs Margaret considered her as family. A nice warm feeling spread through her chest.
"I got dust particles in my eyes, that's why I was tearing up," Joe lied as he frantically rubbed his eyes.
"Sure you did," Henry said with a knowing smile.
"Yay, we're all families, let's hug," Anny cheered as she spread her arms wide for a group hug.
The group moved in closer as they shared a warm hug together, an atmosphere of love spread around the house.
"So, Casper, now that you're out of the hospital, when are you planning to come to School?" Henry asked after they separated from the hug.
"Um, I think that I'm strong enough to resume tomorrow," Casper said with a thoughtful expression.
"Are you sure, Casper?, you could rest up and resume next week," Cassie said with a concerned tone.
" Yeah, I'm sure,"Casper responded.
"Alright if you say so," she said.
The friends discussed for a while before going home.
"Bye Mrs Margaret, bye Anny," they said as they made their way towards the door.
"Bye, y'all should be safe," Mrs Margaret said as she waved them off.
"Bye," Anny said with her small clear voice.
"Oh, and send my regards to your parents," Mrs Margaret said.
"We will ,"they responded as they walked.
Casper saw them off, and Cassie couldn't hide the large bright smile off her lips as she held onto a well packaged Mac and cheese that Mrs Margaret gave them.
She hummed a catchy tone to herself as they walked.
"You seem happy, what are you thinking about?" Henry asked.
"Nothing much, can't a lady be happy?" Cassie responded as she walked while skipping.
"Yeah right, you're probably so excited to go home and devour the Mac and cheese," Joe sa id as he looked at Cassie from the side of his eyes.
"Ah, my dear, dear Joe, you know me too well," she said as she pinched Joe's cheeks.
"Remember, it's not only for you, it's also for your parents, don't gobble it up alone," Joe said.
"I feel offended that you would think that I'm so selfish to share this delicious and wonderful meal with my parents," Cassie said with a fake hurt expression.
"You were definitely planning not to share the food," Henry said as he shook his head.
"I wasn't, I was planning to share the Mac and cheese," Cassie said.
"Cassie," they'll called out at once.
"I was, I swear," she responded.
"Cassie, " they called her again.
"I was mostly planning to share," she said.
"Cassie," they called.
"Alright, you caught me, I wasn't planning to share at all," she said.
"I mean who can blame me for not wanting to share?, the food was so delicious and I can't have enough of it," Cassie said.
"Wow, you're a glutton and to add it up you're also stingy," Casper said.
"That's Cassie, for you, she's a foodie" Henry said.
"Yeah, a stingy gluttonous foodie," Joe said.
"Hey, it ain't my fault, the food was too good and the packed Mac and cheese isn't enough," she protested.
"Isn't enough?, that food is more than enough to feed a whole family, and Mrs Margaret added more for you," Joe said with a baffled expression.
"I'll have to call you mom to make sure the Mac and cheese gets to her," Casper said.
"Come on man, I'm going to share it with them, no need to call them," Cassie hurriedly said.
"I will," Casper said with a folded arms.
Cassie deflated, then she suddenly beamed up again.
She looked at both Henry and Joe as she smiled. Henry and Joe suddenly felt a chill run down their spines as they saw Cassie's smiles.
"Um, Cassie, why are you smiling?, you look like a creep or a pervert," Joe said as he stepped back.
"I wanted to ask you guys something," she said.
"Go on, ask away," Henry said cautiously.
"Do you guys consider me your friend?" Cassie asked.
"Of course we do," they immediately responded.
"Why are you even asking us this lame question?, we've been friends since we were little," Joe said.
Cassie nodded with a smile.
"Good, good," she said, "Then if you consider me your friend and if you really mean it, give me your Mac and cheese."
They immediately stopped walking as they turned to Cassie who had an innocent look on her face.
"Hell no," Joe said as he tightly held onto the packed Mac and cheese.
"This girl," Henry said, "I ain't giving you my food."
"But you guys said you were my friends, and friends help out their other friends who are in need," Cassie said with a dramatic tone.
"Cassie, we are not giving you our food," Henry said while pressing his hands against his head.
"But why?, I thought we were friends?" Cassie said with a pout.
"We are not giving you," Henry and Joe said simultaneously.
"You guys aren't gentle men at all," she said with a huff.
"Ladies are not supposed to eat a lot, like you do," Joe said.
"I wonder why you aren't fat with the way you eat," Henry said.
"It's a mystery, I guess," Casper said.
"It's good gene," Cassie responded with a proud tone.
As they walked, they talked and laughed, reminiscing about past funny events.
After departing from his friends, Casper headed back home.
"Oh, Casper you're back," Mrs Margaret said.
"Yes mom," Casper said as he made his way to the couch.
"How's your body feeling?," she asked.
"I'm feeling better mom, thanks for asking," Casper said.
"That's good to hear, and remember to take your medication, okay?," she said.
"Okay, mom, I will," Casper responded with a light nod, before making his way to the table to take his medications.
"How was the escort?" She asked.
"It was nice, could you believe Cassie was planning to eat the food alone without sharing with her parents," Casper said while chuckling.
"What?, that girl loves eating," Mrs Margaret responded as she smiled while shaking her head in amusement.
"Yeah, she even told Joe and Henry to give her their share," Casper said.
"Lol, that girl loves eating, it still comes as a shock that she hasn't become bloated due to over eating," Mrs Margaret said with a smile.
"That's exactly what we said, but she attributed it to good genes," Casper said with a shrug.
