Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Get acquainted. I am Tang Xinyi, Chief of the Information Section!

Under Chen Ming’s guidance, the group quickly reached the computer room. Although there were pickets along the way, they were all bypassed.

“Damn, incredible.”

Yu Jun looked at Chen Ming admiringly at the computer room entrance and said, “Those two pickets hid so well, and you still found them!”

When they arrived earlier, the group was in high spirits. Chen Ming suddenly stopped them, pointing to a mound in the distance. After careful observation, they noticed a picket’s faintly visible white helmet on the mound. Startled, they quickly took a detour.

Chen Ming chuckled, not saying much. His sharpness surpassed ordinary people thanks to the system’s 50% increased insight. Familiar with the routine, everyone entered the computer room, found their spots, turned on the computers, and started playing CS.

After a few rounds, Chen Ming was wreaking havoc, even throwing away his main weapon at the beginning to give teammates a chance. Nevertheless, he managed to eliminate several opponents with a pistol, only getting knocked out during a reload.

“Damn, Chen Ming, you’re a sly fox, too strong!”

“Yeah, did you activate a script?”

“Four of you, don’t move. The five of us will corner Chen Ming!”

Facing five frustrated opponents, Chen Ming was about to agree when a fragrant breeze filled the room. A figure sat beside him, skillfully turning on the computer with white fingers.

Chen Ming turned to see a beautiful female soldier in standard uniform, or more precisely, a female officer with a captivating face and a well-proportioned figure. She exuded a heroic charm.

Suppressing a smile, Chen Ming noticed the major’s insignia on her shoulder – a rank higher than their captain, Lin Changfeng.

Trying to salute, Chen Ming was surprised as she nodded casually, then adeptly started CS, asking if she could join them. Before Chen Ming could respond, He Dong eagerly welcomed her. Ignoring her rank, they focused more on the rarity of a beautiful woman in the barracks.

Chen Ming, amused, forced a smile and shared the room number with the female major.

“Thank you,” she nodded appreciatively. Without airs, she skillfully joined the game.

Observing her, Chen Ming felt she was there for him. Despite the numerous computers, her choice to sit beside him was intriguing. However, the others were more interested in the presence of a beautiful woman, neglecting her rank. Seeing they were already in teams, Chen Ming decided to concentrate on the game.

The female major, proving formidable, engaged in intense battles on par with Chen Ming. Amazed by her skills, Chen Ming wondered how a major could excel in gaming.

Setting aside thoughts about her identity, Chen Ming focused on the game. Playing alongside a skilled teammate added excitement, making the experience enjoyable. Surprised by the female major’s gaming prowess, Chen Ming couldn’t believe a military officer could be so adept at gaming.

After a few rounds, a mechanical voice suddenly sounded in my mind:

“Congratulations to the host for completing the sign-in; the reward is +50% for fighting ability.”

Finally signed in!

Chen Ming exhaled, and as the rewards were handed out, he felt his skin had become thicker. With his current physique, he realized he might not get bruised and bleeding like before in the initial tactical training.

Just as the sign-in was completed, the female officer beside him stretched lazily, a captivating lazy expression on her face. Even in her military uniform, her graceful figure hinted at allure.

Turning towards Chen Ming, she smiled and said, “Let me introduce myself. I’m Tang Xinyi, the chief of the information department. You must be Chen Ming?”

Chief of the Information Section?! Quite an esteemed department.

Upon hearing her introduction, Chen Ming quickly stood up, giving a formal military salute, “Yes, ma’am!”

The others followed suit, “Hello, Chief!”

Tang Xinyi smiled, motioning for them to sit down, “No need to be formal, continue playing.”

She then looked at Chen Ming, “However, you should step out for a moment. I’d like to talk to you. How about we go outside?”

Chen Ming looked at Tang Xinyi, not sure what this female chief had in mind, but he agreed, “Sure!”

Tang Xinyi nodded, shutting down her computer and putting the stool back under the table. She led Chen Ming out of the computer room, heading to a quiet corner at the end of the corridor.

Observing Chen Ming, she was overall satisfied. Since Chen Ming infiltrated the army’s internal network through hacking and obtained administrator status, Tang Xinyi had been watching this recruit.

Knowing he spent his mornings on every rest day playing games here, just as the information suggested, he was a full-fledged gaming addict. She wanted to contact Chen Ming personally in the final month of the recruit company’s preparation.

But for more than half a month, she couldn’t find him. Initially, Tang Xinyi wondered if he somehow knew she was waiting there and decided not to come. However, after investigating, she realized the recruits were busy preparing for assessments and training.

After understanding the situation, she discovered how popular Chen Ming was. This made her a bit anxious. Before knowing, she thought Chen Ming would be assigned to their information department by telling the brigade commander.

But knowing his popularity, she felt that talking to the brigade commander might not be effective. Upon learning that the recruiting company could rest on the last rest day, she hurried to the computer room to wait, eager to meet Chen Ming.

If Chen Ming agreed to join their information department, it would give her some leverage when approaching the brigade commander!
