Chapter 302: Meeting The Summons For The First Time (4)

Nearly 100 beings stood rank and file, organized into multiple orderly rows, with Glacia/Faelar, Nyria, Ellewen, and Famitil in the front row.

Behind them were the collective of Varnithms, males, females, young and old; their numbers weren't nearly as "physically" impressive as their furry companions further back, but with 52 of the light Blueskin elves taking up residence in the Cavern, they were the main workforce of his Territory.

Garrison Men, or soldiers, whatever you may want to call them, craftsmen, healers, children, families, everyone present had a job that leaned toward their expertise.

There were Tailors, builders, a single blacksmith, scholars, teachers, warriors, rangers, butchers, farmers, and, yes, even merchants. As for the children, well, of course, their only job was to live happy childhoods, going to school for part of the day and playing the rest.

If there was one thing Aoni was keen on, no matter how much the parents of his Village asked him about having the kids work alongside them daily, it was giving all the kids of his Territory the childhood he didn't get to experience.

None went without food, none met struggle, and any signs of bullying or harassment were swiftly dealt with. Every kid was equal in his eyes, and with that being the case, he garnered a massive amount of respect borderline worship, from the eldest members of his community.

Walking through the ranks, Aoni watched his sister's reaction out of the corner of his eye, and, to be honest, he was quite pleased to see that she seemed amazed.

Then again, that was to be expected, considering how even the weakest child present was already at Grade-2, meaning this small force, if push came to shove, could pretty much level a lot of weaker forces she probably knew about.

"How is this even possible…" Clara whispered when she noticed that most of the adults were either Grade-3 or 4.

"Umu, better to accept, not question…" Char, who had walked away from Glacia and Faelar to join them, stated, making Clara flinch at her sudden appearance.

"That's easy for you to say, you've been coming here for months, but me…all I knew was Aoni found some special Nodes and got his hands on a batch of unique summons…a batch, not a whole species."

"Hehe," was all Char said in response to Clara's dumbfoundedness.

After the Varnithm was Aoni's hunting force, aka, the Doggos Squads.

The 45 wolves, who came in all shapes, sizes, and ages, were divided into seven groups. Six of the groups were full-grown, and the last group only had the younger pups, with two adults to keep order.

During the day, the Doggo squads, led by Kuro, would go out and clear the surrounding area within the barrier of monsters, then patrol the area the rest of the day.

Since they worked in shifts, at least a single group never unguarded Erula, and with their keen hearing and sense of smell, they noticed everything.

"Kuro, congratulations on the new budding litter." Walking up to the wolf, who stood several heads higher than him, Aoni reached forward and placed his palm on Kuro's snout before giving the overgrown puppy a few scratches.

"Thank you, my Lord; Terri will bear fine heirs," he said in a deep voice that vibrated Aoni's chest and stunned Clara to the point of idiocy.

"He…he…hee…talked. How could the big puppy talk, talking puppy, talking puppy?" She stuttered while a flash of fear and fascination crossed her face.

"Well, for now, it's just Kuro here and Malys," Aoni said, pointing to a female wolf in the process of herding a bunch of younglings; however, the moment he directed the attention toward the she-wolf and the rest of her "squad," Clara was gone.

"Sigh, Char, can you…" Aoni asked while receiving a nod from his sister and watching her race to calm Malys as Clara rolled around on the ground with five puppies happily bouncing around.

Shaking his head and looking back up at Kuro, Aoni saw a hint of laughter in the large wolf's eyes.

"Your eldest sister is quite funny, My Lord, but then again, I suppose all of your family members get attached to the younglings."

"Yeah, well, what can I say? People like fluffy and cute; I am no exception, but Clara over there, she's a bit different from me, Ant, and Char." Reaching out and gently rubbing Terri's flank as a means of congratulating her on getting pregnant, Aoni stated, causing Kuro to chuckle.

"I suspect she will keep them occupied, so maybe you can get some quality time with Malys," He said with a cheeky grin that caused Kuro to flinch.

"Hum-hum, My Lord," sounding like rolling thunder by clearing his throat, Aoni noticed a trace of something in Kuro's eyes. That something was quite familiar to him or any of the Thurston Siblings since it was often spotted in Jason's eyes, but he chose to ignore it.

"Anyway, bring those squad members who want upgrades to see me later, and I will clear their tabs."

"As you wish, my lord." He said with another bow, leaving Aoni to examine the gains and stats of the other Doggo Squads.

By the time he made the rounds and wandered over to his puppy-crazed sister, he was finally jumped by the Hyper Duo, who couldn't wait any longer.

{'BROTHERRRR!'}

{'GLACI GETTEM!'}

With a flash of blue and a flash of white, the two huge furry missles easily brought Aoni to the ground and snuggled their faces on his chest and arm.

"Hey…HEY, CHILL YOU TWO!" Aoni complained as he suddenly had hundreds of pounds of dead weight pressing him to the ground.

---

After an hour of being smothered, Aoni finally freed himself from the Duo de Floof, something all of his summons seemed to find hilarious, as it wasn't often they got to see this side of him.

{'Brother, haha, you should have seen your face.'} Nyria chirped while rubbing her head against Aoni's cheek.

"I swear, those two still think they're lap-sized; ugh, my LIFE WAS IN DANGER, and none of you helped." He said while shooting a fake glare at everyone and making them chuckle at his misfortune.

"Anyway, I want to announce there will be another movie night for the kids again tonight, so parents, you get the night off, and Doggo Squads, if you wanna send the younglings to the Manor, feel free."

This announcement, of course, set off a wave of cheers, especially with a few couples, as it meant they could have a night all to themselves.

It wasn't the first time their Lord had called a movie night, so although they were more than welcome to join in, all the stuff he showed was directed toward a younger audience. Instead, it would normally become Datenight or something spicier for the adults of Erula.

Of course, this was a planned ploy on Aoni's behalf, as so long as he could take the kids away for a night, it would increase the chances of a population boom occurring in his Territory; thus, it was totally approved.

"Just like with any other movie night, everyone is expected to bring a pillow and a sleeping bag. If you have any snack preferences, please give them to Char."

---

Soon enough, a group of kids, ranging from the youngest being four and the oldest 10, swarmed around Char as she happily gave each a head pat and listened to what they wanted for snack time during movie night.

In the end, cakes, candy, popcorn, and random fruit were the results, and in a sense, that was to be expected because although sweets weren't necessarily in abundance in Erula, they were still available.

While this was happening, a portly Varnithm man walked up to Aoni, bowed slightly, and smiled brightly.

"Ah, Talfryn, based on that big smile of yours, I assume you got Ellewen's order," Aoni said with a cheeky smile as he examined the elven Baker's info.

"Of course, Milord, I just wanted to thank you for this opportunity. I've been itching to try out that cookbook you brought back last time, and since this Red Velvet is mentioned so many times, this is a perfect opportunity to do so." The man said while rubbing his belly slightly and picturing a cake bigger than a person in his mind.

"Don't forget it was you who redeemed it from the Mission Store, so that is all thanks to your hard work, but I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to cater the Movie night; I am sure the kids will be ecstatic," Aoni said while leaning in and whispering something to the Baker.

"Also, if you can toss in a few of you know what, I am sure a certain lonely lady would be exceptionally happy," Aoni said, nudging Talfryn's squishy side slightly, then looking over at a woman who had a young son standing in front of her, Aoni gave the man an added push.

After all, she was summoned as a widow, and it was EXTREMELY clear, even to him, that the two liked each other but were afraid to say anything.

"M..milord,"

"Heyyy, just sayinnn, if you don't, someone else will, Talfryn." After giving the Baker a pat on the shoulder, Aoni walked over to the woman and greeted her along with the young boy before carrying on with his mingling.
