Chapter 255: Personal individual Quest (2)

He clicked on one of the contact numbers in front of him.

*"Lucas, what a good timing! I was just going to call you!"*

Lucas heard the voice that came just after the voice connected with surprise.

"Haha, I haven't heard you this excited since Dad left so abruptly… Wait, is he back!?" Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire

*"Yes! Here, talk to him. Say hello! Ahhh wait, you can't from my call. Lucas, Call him on your own right now, quick!"*

Lucas's mother cut the phone on his face and he couldn't help but start giggling and smiling from the interaction.

His father had returned! And by the way his mother was talking, his father was fine too.

Lucas made his way through the system and contacted his father too.

*"Heyy, how is it going, Lucas?"*

Lucas heard his father's aloof voice for the first time in a while and he couldn't help but feel satisfied.

"Better than you, I just hope Mom beat the crap out of you."

*"Hey Hey Hey, where is your manners, young man? Do you want me to kick your ass? Eh, is that what you want?"*

"Sorry Dad but you did something very ridiculous this time, are you even okay?" Lucas said politely as he knew that his dad was one of the many people who held a pretty good grudge even if it was his own son.

* "Ohh, how do I say this… hmm… I am better than ever physically but pretty exhausted mentally right now."*

"Well, hope you get better soon, really." Lucas said and continued after a stop, "Now give me some pointers for the individual quests, I will be leaving for one a few hours later."

"WHAT!?" Sean from the side spat the food from his mouth and shouted exaggeratedly.

Lucas just kept a finger on his mouth wanting him to shut it for now.

*"Son, what I am going to tell you now, engrave it in your mind. It is your decision after that whether you want to do the quest or not."*

"What do you mean?"

*"Shut up and listen carefully…"*

'His tone changed...'

It was the first time in his life that Lucas had seen his father this serious with him, he was strict but always the aloof type. It made him serious about what was going to come.

*"I am going to explain this as quickly as I can… it was hell, Lucas. I chose the worst quest possible and it made me want to kill myself at one point."*

"!!" Lucas's eyes widened in surprise, he kept a hand on his mouth in shock to stop that gasp from coming outside.

His father wanted to die? Kill himself? That guy who fought a pro to the point of a broken leg, jaw, and shoulder one time in a ring?

*"The one quest that I knew would be the worst one but because of my arrogance, I went for it. The biggest mistake of my life… But also my proudest moments. I killed hundreds of thousands of monsters without any break, that was the deal I accepted with the quest."*

He stopped for a minute which Lucas thought to be the time he had given to him to calm down and listen to him with better attention.

*"I came out 20 times stronger than my previous self and have skills I don't think is even possible to get here. But only I know what I sacrificed in there…"*

*"I wasn't going to tell all this to you, I still haven't told your mom but I know for a fact what you will choose, you're just like me. I want you to choose wisely, Lucas. This mission can mean death too if you're not careful."*

Lucas stayed quiet for some time.

"… Thanks Dad... It helped." Lucas could only mutter those words.

These could be normal intimidation tactics a parent could use to help their kids make better decisions.

But Lucas knew for a fact that his father was the total nut case when it came to fighting, he wanted the same thing for Lucas.

But if someone like him was warning him, it was truly serious.

* "Son, I want you to think carefully this time, don't go for what your heart wants, be practical and choose truly wisely. If I was with you, I swear I would have not allowed you to challenge the quests. I could have protected you with my life… but you got to do everything to survive on your own till we get together again.

I won't go further on it but things are going to become worse than anything now. Be prepared for it."*

Lucas was speechless, it was the first time his father had talked this much with him in his whole life, Lucas felt elated and horrified at the same time. He felt fear after a long time and he didn't like it one bit.

* "… Please, make good decisions. Hahhh, I can't seem to stop speaking and tell you what a bad idea it is. I am going to cut the call now… be careful…"*

TING

Lucas sat on his butt and took the support of the wall he had gone to. He had too much to think about.

'I have to be careful.' His eyes were flashing dangerously.

Sean was looking at him all this time, his face paler than usual.

Lucas looked at him for a long time too, longer than what Sean would have liked.

"Tell Uncle John that he will be the leader while I am gone," Lucas said abruptly after getting back up from the ground. His face had become determined too quickly which was very typical of him.

"Tell him to contact my mother too and tell them to not worry." He said before Sean could even say anything.

"Huh?" Sean was not following the conversation at all, in his mind, there was only one thing. That the room was too pressured right now. It was tough to even breathe for him at this moment.

Lucas knew this for a fact yet he couldn't do anything, his emotions were too much in turmoil.

"I will be going now, bye." Lucas gave the guy a pat on the shoulder and clicked on the 'Yes' part on the quest page.

The next second, Lucas vanished into thin particles all at once making Sean fall on his butt in fear finally.

Lucas was gone completely just like that without contacting anyone but Sean, who was not even sure what Lucas had told him just now.
