Chapter 112: Setting it up (2)
"Makes sense" Sarah said after listening to the example. The mana stones inside the shelter only had one usage for now... it was to be used as raw material for the shelter upgrade.
Even if Sarah had 15 mana stones on her, even then, she would have no use for them making the mana stones just some glowing useless stones in her eyes.
"But your mother and father taking this service, it may be right. We will benefit but how will we get the corpses from the others? You think they will just give it to us on goodwill that we will return it all back?" Sandra asked making Lucas think that her mouth had really started to move recently. But it was expected and a smile formed on his face.
"We will have to ask our knowns for now, like John asking his cousin and many more, Sarah asking her brother who will trust them, not me into taking this service. I mean, what will they lose if they made a transaction, a single corpse that could just be seen as a trial?"
Slowly, everything started connecting and everyone had a sense that Lucas was onto something good.
The way he explained it, the confidence of a salesperson that his mother taught him. The pitch he just gave made the people who were to judge it felt as if they could agree to it.
"There are still some problems with the idea but we can fix them up on the go. Where do we start?" John asked with dazed eyes. He was looking at the list of people who were in his blood relative section of the talk function.
"We start by contacting our knowns," Lucas replied, his voice filled with determination. "Uncle John, you can reach out to those on your list that you think will work. Sarah, talk to your brother and see if he's willing to trust us and take part in this. We'll need to assure them that it's a transaction and not a permanent loss."
Sarah nodded, her expression serious. "I'll speak to my brother and explain the details. I believe he'll be open to it, especially if I emphasize that I trust in this. He is already level 7 and hunting has never been a problem for him"
"Great" Lucas said with his list opened too, he had many cousins and relatives that he had barely contacted this whole time but it seemed fair that after making the deal with his parents and sister, he contact them too.
It may have been just for the profits and the benefit of the shelter as a whole but still, the service could help others have a sense of comfort in this god-forsaken world.
Sandra chimed in, her skepticism still present but fading. "What about the others? How do we get the corpses from them? Will they willingly hand them over?"
Lucas thought for a moment before responding. "We'll need to convince them that it's a mutually beneficial arrangement. We can offer something in return, perhaps a small favor or service. It's all about finding the right approach and presenting it in a way that they can see the value in it."
Continue your saga on empire
He continued, his voice growing more confident. "Think about it. Our shelter is limited by its current level. With the upgrades we can make using the mana stones and other things, we'll be able to provide better protection and resources for everyone. It's in their best interest to contribute. We just need to make them see that."
Sandra nodded slowly, her skepticism giving way to cautious optimism. "I suppose it's worth a shot. If we can convince them, it could be a game-changer for all of us."
It was difficult to say no as Lucas was talking the business language which aside from John, nobody in the group understood completely. Many got the main gist of it and that was enough.
Lucas smiled, his confidence shining through. "Exactly. We have the potential to create something extraordinary here. We just need to take the first step and see how others respond. We'll refine the details along the way."
John's dazed expression cleared, and he leaned forward with renewed enthusiasm. "Let's do it. Let's reach out to our knowns and pitch this idea. I am confident to bring some to me but be aware, doing stuff halfway isn't going to convince anyone. Show them your sincerity.
The hunts that people have, they are tough and there could also be some sacrifices or losses on their part because of it so always be polite."
Lucas nodded, John's advice was always good and he was also right. Lucas had to just give his all in front of others other than his parents and sister.
He skimmed to the talk function and after looking at the name for a while, he clicked his father's name hesitantly. They had not talked for a long time and it had made him wonder if his father was even interested in talking with him or not.
The call rang for a few seconds and Lucas had already decided to cut the call without wasting time when the unexpected happened.
DING!
The sound rang in his mind and he froze while looking at the screen in front of him.
-"Hello, son."- The deep voice came from the other side and Lucas had no words for a few seconds.
"Hello, Dad... Uh... Glad to hear you're not dead..."
Lucas felt a smack on his shoulder and when he looked, he found John looking at him with a weird expression. The others were the same way but he only noticed John and moved on.
-"Why would I be dead? Don't you know how strong your awesome dad is?"- Lucas's father said in a rather proud and narcissistic way.
"Yeah yeah, how is Mom? I haven't talked to her the whole day."
-"Yeah she's alright, other than how she keeps nagging at me. Everything is fine. And son, this may have been late but how is it going?"-
Lucas felt a vein pop on his head, his dad had asked him how he was after knowing that Lucas could be in danger from the beginning.
He could only chuckle as he knew how much confidence his dad had in him and that Lucas would always be alright.
He knew his son really well.
