Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 491: The Suspect of the Bank Robber

Patrol Officer Davis meticulously described the sequence of events in the parking lot on that piece of paper:

At that time, Patrol Officer Davis, as usual, was slowly patrolling the neighborhood he was responsible for in his police car.

He heard the announcement that a group of bank robbers had fled in their car, but Patrol Officer Davis didn't think too much about it and didn't expect the robbers to flee to his block.

Driving into the parking lot, Patrol Officer Davis intended to pause his patrol and buy a cup of Starbucks next door.

Just as he entered the parking lot, Patrol Officer Davis saw a van parked in a spot, with six individuals wearing poker face masks, each holding a rifle and carrying a large black bag, rushing out of the van.

At the same time Patrol Officer Davis saw the robbers, the robbers on both sides of the van also saw Patrol Officer Davis inside the police car.

The seven people stood frozen at that moment.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock,

Seconds ticked by, and for those few seconds, time felt slower than ever in those seven lives.

After a few seconds, Patrol Officer Davis turned his head away, pretending as if nothing had happened, and slowly drove the police car out of the parking lot.

The six bank robbers looked at each other, all somewhat baffled. Upon catching their wits, they rushed with their weapons and bags full of money to another MPV, and quickly drove away from the area.

After reading Patrol Officer Davis's description, Luo An and his two companions were at a loss for words.

Fortunately, those few seconds left a deep impression on Patrol Officer Davis and he remembered many details.

For example, the license plate numbers of the van and the MPV, the heights of the six robbers, and the blue and yellow checked shirts under the black coats of two of the robbers as they bent down to get into the MPV.

Patrol Officer Davis felt the designs of those two shirts were very familiar. Upon careful recall, he remembered they were the jerseys of Los Angeles Rams football team players.

"There's nothing useful about the jerseys."

Mona opened her laptop and showed it to Luo An and Reesi, explaining with a smile:

"However, according to the license plate number of that MPV, I did find some useful clues."

Mona found out the owner of the MPV was a celebrity agent working in a brokerage company in Los Angeles. At the time of the incident, he was in a European country attending an event with the celebrities he managed and had no opportunity to commit the crime.

The agent had divorced his wife, who also had no opportunity to commit the crime at the time of the incident.

However, the cousin of the agent's ex-wife, a man called Ke Green, was highly suspect.

"Ke Green, 26 years old, has previously been in prison for theft and assault."

On the laptop screen was a photo of a young Caucasian male taken during his imprisonment, as Mona pointed to the man and continued:

"Two years ago, Ke Green was released from prison and got a job at a telecommunications equipment company in Los Angeles.

Six months ago, he was fired from the telecommunications equipment company due to several unexplained absences from work and has been unemployed since."

Mona then typed a few more keys and brought up Ke Green's work records at the telecommunications company, showing them to Luo An with a smile:

"These are the places Mr. Ke Green visited most frequently during his time at work."

"Wells Fargo Bank branch, Trust Bank branch, JPMorgan Chase Bank, First Republican Bank…"

Reesi read out the text on the laptop screen, and Luo An, hearing this, narrowed his eyes and grinned:

"Our Mr. Ke Green really likes repairing telecommunication devices in wealthy places.

It seems the coffee probably tastes better during breaks at these locations."

Reesi sneered in agreement and continued Luo An's thought:

"Or maybe this guy wanted to figure out the structure of the vault doors of these banks, as well as the timing of their time locks."

"That's highly likely."

Luo An nodded and then asked:

"Mona, any other clues?"

"No more."

Closing the laptop, Mona spread her hands:

"Just now, the clues we found are only based on reasonable guesses according to the information, and currently, we can't find any direct evidence that proves the involvement of the other party in the bank robbery."

"No worries, at least we already have a suspect target."

Luo An's expression remained unchanged, as he currently had no plans to lead the team directly to Ke Green's residence for a search.

The bank had records of the serial numbers of the stolen US Dollars. It was highly likely that the robbers wouldn't spend the money they just robbed directly, but would find someone to launder it first before using it.

In this scenario, it would be impossible to identify and catch these robbers and put them in jail in a short period of time. Luo An was already prepared to handle this case slowly.

However, the necessary investigations still had to be conducted. Luo An instructed Mona to compile all information on Ke Green and hand it over to Reesi.

Tracking Ke Green offline was most suitable for Reesi, who was part of the Special Investigation Team.

"No problem, leave it to me."

After receiving the files, Reesi nodded firmly in agreement, then she extended her right hand to Luo An with a grin:

"First, some funds for the investigation."

"..."x2

Reesi began to act alone, investigating the bank robbers' circumstances, while Luo An and Mona returned to the Special Investigation Team. Michelle had been waiting for a long time in the office area.

"From now on, the three of us will handle this poison gas case."

In the office area of the Special Investigation Team, Mona and Michelle obediently sat on their chairs, and Luo An placed a photo of the poison gas storage canister right in the center of the front whiteboard.

Rubbing his temples, Luo An turned back and looked at Michelle, asking:

"From the CDC's side, are there any suspected labs?"

Michelle shook her head, handing over a report from the CDC to Luo An, adding:

"The staff from the CDC stated that the botulinum toxin found at the crime scene is one of the most common types, and many labs could produce it.

Furthermore, many labs have a lot of confidential experiments that only a few people know about, apart from their official records, so..."

Luo An looked over the report - it was very long with numerous scientific terms that he couldn't understand.

However, he managed to summarize its essence:

It could potentially be from any federal-level Tier III laboratory or higher.

"Alright."

Luo An rubbed his temples feeling a bit of a headache, pondered for a while, and then said:

"Mona, Michelle, you first investigate the Tier III labs within California from various universities to see if they have been manufacturing or producing botulinum toxin."

"No problem."

Compared to other government departments, investigating university labs was relatively straightforward.

Mona moved her chair back to her position and began tapping on the computer keyboard to conduct the investigation, with Michelle assisting her. Luo An captured his coffee in one gulp then took out his phone and made a call to his superior, Potante Byrne:

"Good afternoon, sir. It's Luo An."

Luo An briefly described the report from the monitoring center. After a few seconds of thought, Potante Byrne responded gravely:

"I'll contact the CIA and the military. I will call you if there is any news."

"OK, thank you, sir."

"You're welcome. Take good care of this case."

After hanging up, Luo An flopped down into his chair, eyes fixed on the photo on the whiteboard, chin propped on his hands in thought.

As time ticked away, neither Mona nor Michelle found any clues. Since some university labs were not linked to large external networks and even used isolated regional networks, the task was more difficult than they had anticipated.

When the office clock indicated it was time to leave, Luo An first called Reesi to briefly inquire about the situation. After confirming everything was normal, Luo An left the Special Investigation Team office with Mona and Michelle, driving to the hospital where Winslow and Chenier were.

When the trio arrived at the hospital, Winslow's ex-wife, her young son, and her current husband had all come to the hospital.

Two adults stood in the hallway outside the ward, discussing matters in low voices with the doctor. Upon seeing Luo An, Winslow's ex-wife immediately approached him.
