Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon

Chapter 114: Abnormalities

Kael was quite curious about his surroundings, but he ignored it for the time being as he didn't notice anything else. However, he decided to be a bit more careful.

After all, the last time he encountered a place with a small density of population, he had to face something like the Great Storm Tree.

It was his luck that managed to keep him alive there; otherwise, he would have been deep-fried.

But then again, it was because Draven chose the location, so he was sure that the old dragon had his motives behind sending him there.

It also became one of the reasons he wanted to settle his Empire there.

As he moved along the quiet trees, he kept his guard up and also contacted his friends, "Yo, my munchkins, where are you?"

[Master... ummm... there is something I want to say.]

"Huh? What happened to you?" Kael got confused hearing Kiona speaking in a meek voice.

It didn't suit her at all.

[Just say the truth already, Sis. Why are you glaring at me?]

[Shut up!! I'll tell him myself.]

[When? Since when did you become so timid, sister? Tsk! I'm disappointed in you.]

Kael chuckled to himself hearing their bickering. They had gotten used to his presence and also opened up, so now they truly bantered like siblings.

Though the biggest factor in this was that they were slowly moving on from their trauma which held them back.

They didn't forget it, even if they could it was impossible. They would still take their revenge, but it wasn't their main target.

[Master, I apologise on behalf of these two kids.]

[Who are you calling kid? You literally came to this world side by side with me.]

"Alright. First, tell me what happened?" Kael asked before they could start their nonsense again.

[Master... that Stag actually died.]

Kael stopped on a tree as he cursed his luck. Here he was thinking of using that Stag to get information about the other Stags, but it already died.

"How did he die?"

[He lost his soul just by seeing her face. But on a serious note, even we don't understand what happened.]

[Yes. I followed your instructions and didn't even do any damage to him. I carefully brought him back, but he died all of a sudden.]

[He was looking as if someone had sucked out his Soul, but I didn't think he would die. I just thought it's because he was traumatized after seeing my sister's face.]

"Oii! I won't allow you to call her ugly. She's my girlfriend," Kael retorted. "You don't even have a proper face. You all look alike."

[Master, that's racism. We all look different.]

[Thanks, Master. I'll maintain this beautiful face for you. Hehe!]

Kael smiled at Kiona's cheerful voice. She had really begun to smile more and more recently, which made him realise that this was her true personality all along.

It was just because of her status and responsibilities that she was always burdened and couldn't act freely.

"Don't think too much about the poor beast." Kael said, as he jumped in the air and soared high with his [Stormborne Wings].

It didn't take long for him to reach Kiona and Jon since they were together, and it was hard to miss the mighty lion. His body and aura truly garnered so much attention.

Sadly, there was no one here to appreciate the view.

Kael landed before them, and his gaze directly fell on the corpse laying at the base of the tree. It was the Barkhide Stag, and there were no wounds whatsoever.

It was clear that Kiona really abided by her words and didn't do anything to the beast, yet it died on its own. It was suspicious, and Kael was sure there were other factors in play, but he couldn't understand it.

'Should I call this protagonist luck? Why do things turn to shit when I try to get stronger?' Kael's lips twitched.

He was now sure that there was something wrong in this area. Definitely. But what was wrong here?

Kael inspected the Stag's body and even let his assistant check it, yet they found nothing unusual with the beast. He truly died naturally.

'Am I overthinking? Is my paranoia kicking in?' Kael wondered, but he wasn't willing to take risks.

"Bury him and follow me."

Kael said and jumped on the tree with the lion siblings following him behind. How long would it take them to bury someone anyway?

"Seth, what did you find?" Kael asked as they were headed toward his location.

[It's better if you come and check yourself, Master. It's interesting and bizarre, but I've never seen something like this, so I can't understand it.]

"Alright, we're coming."

The journey was short and silent, which made Kael a little uncomfortable as Jon could never stand silence, so why wasn't he speaking?

"What happened to you two?" Kael asked. "Why are you so silent all of a sudden?"

The big lion was running beneath him on the ground, so he looked up at him and responded, "I don't know, Master. This area feels too creepy, so I'm just thinking about it."

"Yeah, I also got this weird feeling when that Stag died," Kiona chimed in. "What do you think, Master?"

"We just gotta wait and see what is happening here," Kael said, but he was already considering withdrawing from here.

The Valoran Wilds were vast, so he could always find other Beast Tribes and didn't need to get hung up on this area. It was already dangerous enough, so it was better to leave it.

Although he was very curious about the mysteries of this part of the Valoran Wilds, his priority was still to find the Beast Tribes and expand his Empire.

That was his goal, and he wouldn't let his curiosity get in the way.

[Jon, be careful when you come here. Don't make noise.]

Jon's nose scrunched hearing that as he asked, "Why did you only point it out for me?"

[Because only you have a giant body, idiot. Master and sister can manage. Besides, they aren't impulsive like you.]

Jon wanted to argue, but even he knew that Seth was speaking the truth, so he just snorted and sped up.

When they neared their destination, they slowed down and approached Seth slowly while trying their best not to make any noise.

They found him sitting lazily on an elevated area and went toward him. While walking, Kael noticed something and exchanged a glance with Kiona.

She had noticed the same thing and came to the same conclusion.

'He is too careless and his guard is lowered. If someone wanted to sneak attack, it would be pretty easy.'

Kael thought, but even he knew Seth wasn't like that. He was probably the most responsible among them, as even Kael had times where he was reckless and careless.

So it came as a surprise to both of them that someone like Seth was being careless.

It spelled nothing but trouble.

'Holy moly! The day I find Goddess of Luck, I'm gonna spank her ass. What is this shit luck?' Kael cursed and slowly climbed the elevated area while gesturing Jon to stay put.

Jon didn't understand the situation, but he was loyal and trusted Kael a lot, so he stopped immediately without any questions.

[What if it's a man instead of a woman, Master?]

Kael almost rolled his eyes at Alpha's teasing voice. With constant use of her skill, his assistant had reached quite high levels which allowed her to have more personality.

Kael didn't bother replying to her comment and came to stand beside Seth. He put his hand on his back and noticed how Seth didn't even flinch or try to fight back.

'Yup, the situation is shit.'

Kael sighed and said through their shared channel, 'Kiona, don't look until I tell you so, and Seth, stop looking.'

Kiona lowered her head without asking anything and simply waited for his orders.

Seth, on the other hand, seemed to be in a world of his own as he replied.

[What is there to fear, Master? It's just a dance.]

Yup, the thing that managed to get Seth's attention was a dance. But it wasn't some normal dance, and Kael could feel it just from a glance.

Seeing that talking and patting wasn't working, he told Kiona, 'Give him a taste of your favourite move.'

[Really?]

Kiona's eyes were practically sparkling as she almost looked up on instinct but managed to keep herself in control.

'What do you think?' Kael asked flatly.

Kiona didn't hesitate any longer and flashed before Seth. Before he could understand the situation, a solid punch landed on his jaw as his massive head was thrown upwards from the impact.

It had to be said that Kiona truly didn't hold back much and delivered her favourite uppercut.

She grinned at her sibling and asked in a low voice, "Do you want more?"

Kael ignored them since he could see that Seth was out of whatever he got himself into. So he focused his attention on the dance.

'Let me see the performance that even managed to ensnare a lion like him.'
