Chapter 223: Hidden Influence
The Academy didn't protect Elias from outside influence because they cared about him. Instead, it was simply because Elias was their ticket to get more concessions from Chronos.
The Delegation from Chronos wanted Elias to participate. In return, they have agreed to give the Academy more slots. The Academy shouldn't refuse such a lucrative offer.
As they had accepted the offer from Chronos, they couldn't let anything happen to Elias before the designated time. Even if Elias was to die, he had to die at the hands of those from Chronos.
If that happened, then the Ashborn Family and Chronos were going to have an even bigger conflict. This was beneficial for the Academy from every angle.
To protect their interests, they had decided to protect Elias until the promised time. After he left the Academy with the Chronos delegation, then his fate had nothing to do with the Academy.
Even if the Academy was supreme, they couldn't dare to hurt Elias if his father wanted to protect him.
Even the Academy didn't dare to go against Silas Ashborn, but the man had made his intentions clear during the awakening ceremony itself.
Silas Ashborn had made it clear that whatever happened to Elias, was his own fate. The Academy didn't have to worry about pulling such tricks anymore.
With Silas refusing to intervene, the Ashborn Family's attitude towards Elias and Dreke was also very cold. They didn't try to outright use their might to intervene either.
Only Dreke's mother tried to use her influence and send her people to bring Elias back, but her strength was limited. Without the help of the Elders from the Family, the woman couldn't really cause any waves.
She did try to send a few assassins in the Academy, but they were all caught and killed.
The Academy had spoiled all her efforts to save Dreke, but even they knew that it wasn't enough.
Even though she couldn't send her people to the Academy, she could still use her influence and the greed of students to manipulate them into harming Elias.
The Academy had even assigned a few stronger guards around Elias's Residential Area, to ensure that not even the Academy Students could hurt him.
At this moment, Elias Ashborn was the most secure person in the entire academy, on the same level as Kaelen. Of course, the essence of their protection was entirely different.
Every time Elias left the mansion to go out for a walk, he could always feel that he was being watched. But the people who were watching him, had no killing intent towards him, which made him realize their true intentions.
"The Academy really doesn't want me to die before the right time. How kind of them," he sarcastically said.
This was a good thing as this prevented any unnecessary troubles in the meantime. At the same time, it was problematic since he had to switch places with his main body.
Now, he was being followed by the guards. And his main body, as the disciple of Freya, was even more guarded.
It was quite hard for him to meet Kaelen in this situation. He couldn't enter the core area of the Academy. It meant Kaelen had to leave his seclusion, and come for him.
"I will have to make some arrangements." After walking around the residential area, Elias went straight to the Dimensional Gate.
He used his badge to access another area, where the library of the Academy was established.
Surprisingly, this was the only place within the entire academy that was in the core area and could be accessed by students from any branch.
There was only one problem, that the students who didn't have access to the core area, weren't allowed to leave the Library through the main exit that had a powerful barrier blocking people.
The Dimensional Gate opened straight on the first floor of the Library, which was more like a gathering hall and information center.
After stepping out of the gate, Elias could already see that hundreds of students were present here. There were even a few Professors that were going upstairs.
Even with hundreds of people gathered at the same place, the hall was very orderly. Moreover, it was so large that it looked almost empty even with so many people here.
On the other side of the fall, there was a gate that was shrouded in a green barrier. It could be used to leave the library and enter the core area, but Elias didn't have the authority to pass through that barrier.
Fortunately, he didn't want the authority either. The only reason he even came here was because the guards secretly trailing him weren't going to follow him here.
It was also a place that Kaelen could also access, making it the most suitable place for the two of them to meet without raising any suspicions.
....
"Lord Kaelen, are you done with your training?"
In another part of the core area, Kaelen also stepped out of the mansion, where he was allowed to stay and train.
His body looked to be brimming with power, and his flames had also grown stronger. It was to the point that even some of the guards felt concerned when approaching him.
"I am going to the main library," Kaelen didn't offer any explanation, and simply walked away.
"Young Lord, Master said that you aren't allowed to leave without informing her. It's dangerous outside. Please wait while I inform Lady Freya."
"This is the core region of the Academy. What danger could there be? It's not as if I'm going to other regions. Do you really have to disturb my master for such an insignificant thing?"
Elias dismissed the man's concerns. If he didn't leave today, how could he switch places with his secondary identity, as tomorrow was the day he was supposed to leave with Chronos.
This was the last opportunity for him to switch, especially since he had already used all the benefits he could have gathered. Everything else was also kept in his inventory for later use.
"But..." The Guards felt hesitant, but in the end, they gave in and followed him to the Central Library.
