League of Legends: Unrivaled

Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Solo Begins

Upon hearing Shu Yuewu's words, Wang Xue's expression soured.

While that was indeed her intention, he'd been subtle, saying it was to help Xia Xin. Now that she was so blunt, it immediately changed the tone. Where would Wang Xue feel comfortable?

He immediately looked at Shu Yuewu with a malicious look.

"Where did you come from, classmate? Xiaoxin and I have been friends for years. You're here to slander me. I'm doing this purely to help him. He's asking me to pay, so I can't do it for nothing. Brothers should settle accounts, and the bank even pays interest."

Shu Yuewu said without hesitation, "Your interest rate is too high. Do you really think everyone in the world is stupid and you're the only one who's smart?"

Wang Xue's face immediately turned unhappy. "Little girl, how can you talk like that? You'd better pay attention to where you're talking. This isn't school."

Shu Yuewu wasn't afraid of him at all. She glared at him and said, "Don't act like that, Xia Xin. Let's go. I have money. 50,000 yuan. I can afford it."

"You..." Wang Xue's face darkened. Wasn't he just arguing with him and trying to steal his business?

Shu Yuewu pulled him, but Xia Xin didn't leave. Instead, he smiled at her and said, "You misunderstood. Brother Wang and I are very good friends. He wouldn't cheat me. He has my best interests at heart."

"Why are you so stupid? Are you a blockhead? Didn't you understand what I just said? He wants the horse to run, but he doesn't want it to eat grass. He's just waiting to share the money."

Xia Xin smiled. "Brother Wang and I have a long-standing friendship. That won't happen."

"You, you, you're such a blockhead! You're so pissed! I don't want to bother with you anymore."

Shu Yuewu was furious. How could this man be so stubborn? She felt like a fire was burning in her chest. She kicked Xia Xin in anger, wanting to kick him to the sky.

In fact, if she had thought about it carefully, she would have realized that this had nothing to do with her. Why should she be angry? It wouldn't do any good.

Xia Xin looked at Wang Xue and said with a smile, "Brother Wang, this isn't right. Are you lending me this money, or are you betting on your own behalf? If you're lending it to me, then it's my betting. If I win, it's my win. I don't mind giving you a few thousand in dividends, but if I lose, I'll pay you back sooner or later."

"If you're betting on your own behalf, then I'm investing my technology. If you win, you take the money and give me a few thousand in dividends. If you lose, then it's your own loss. That's the way it should be."

Wang Xue was speechless. He hadn't expected Xia Xin's analysis to be so clear.

"Of course, if Brother Wang doesn't want to bet, that's fine. My classmate is also a beautiful, wealthy woman, and her family is very wealthy. You heard it, too. I'll ask her to lend me 50,000 yuan. But considering our long-standing friendship, I'll of course give Brother Wang priority."

Shu Yuewu was furious and wanted to say, "I won't lend you the money. Just the sight of you makes me angry." But after seeing Xia Xin's eyes, for some reason, she couldn't bring herself to say it. She felt that Xia Xin's eyes were particularly bright and attractive, just like when he said he wouldn't lose during their game. They were particularly dazzling.

Wang Xue had been hoping to reap the benefits, but he didn't expect a girl to show up out of nowhere and disrupt the situation.

Shit.

He was at a loss for words. What if he lost if he bet on his own? If he borrowed the money from Xia Xin, the other party would get 48,000 yuan, and he would get 2,000 yuan in bonus. He couldn't bear that.

He was used to taking the lion's share and giving Xia Xin some of the leftover soup.

"If Brother Wang doesn't want to, forget it. Yuewu, let's go."

Xia Xin made a move to leave, but Wang Xue grabbed him. "No, I've thought about it. Here's how: I'll bet on my behalf. Brother Wang won't treat you unfairly. If you win, I'll give you 3,000. No, 5,000. What do you think?"

Wang Xue remembered the time he'd given Xia Xin 5,000 and the way Xia Xin had teared up. He felt that 5,000 was definitely enough for him, enough for him to work so hard for him. The rest should naturally be his.

"Okay," Xia Xin smiled. "I'll listen to Brother Wang. If we win, I'll get 5,000. If we lose, Brother Wang will have to bear the consequences. I know Brother Wang wouldn't cheat me."

"Of course, of course. Don't listen to that little girl. We've been partners for years."

"I thought so too."

Xia Xin took the money and walked out with Shu Yuewu.

Wang Xue and his classmate were the only ones left in the room.

A classmate asked, "Haha, it almost worked. I don't know where that little brat showed up."

"Yeah, damn it."

"Aren't you afraid he'll lose?"

"He can't lose. I think he has a good chance of winning. After all, he's in the top 10 on the Korean server. Besides, as long as he wants to stay in this zone, he won't dare lose to me. Otherwise, I'll make that idiot pay for it. [△网]"

As Wang Xue spoke, a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

Even Shu Yuewu couldn't help herself.

She cursed as she walked out the door.

"You piece of shit, I really misjudged you. How could you tolerate such a rip-off? Are you even a man? And what's with all that talk about Brother Wang? You work your ass off to make money for him, and you get 3,000, and he gets 40,000? You're so happy about the increase from 3,000 to 5,000, you idiot."

Xia Xin leaned close to Shu Yuewu's ear and whispered calmly, "Don't talk nonsense. Society isn't as rosy as you think. All the hooligans around here are connected to Wang Xue, and he's not such a kind person."

Shu Yuewu nodded. "I'm not afraid. Come on if you dare. I've seen it all."

But she noticed something: Xia Xin was talking about Wang Xue, not Brother Wang...

As soon as she entered the internet cafe, Xia Xin's eyes widened in surprise. The place was already packed, every seat occupied.

Is this internet cafe usually so crowded?

Classes one, two, and three—many people from the school were there, and even people from other schools.

Of course, it wasn't Mu Xiaxin's name, but Mu Hanfei's. After all, he was incredibly famous.

A post on the forum and a message in the class group instantly sent word of Xiaxin and Hanfei's 50,000-solo match all the way to the top.

Naturally, a crowd of people rushed over to watch the excitement.

As soon as Xiaxin arrived, a slew of classmates, both familiar and unfamiliar, gathered around, greeting him, asking about his confidence in the competition, whether he was sure, how many minutes he could last, and so on. Xiaxin was taken aback; he'd never been in the spotlight so much before.

"Over here, over here."

Han Fei, standing in a corner not far away, waved at Xiaxin. Just like yesterday, his collar was untied, his hair was a mess, as if he'd just woken up.

Xiaxin walked over and found an empty computer next to Hanfei.

"Um, sorry, all the computers are full. I think the network administrator said that all computers in the internet cafe can access our solo channel today, which is why the private room is packed. Just sit next to me. I promise I won't even look at your computer."

Xia Xin nodded. "Yeah, I promise I won't look at your computer either."

"That's fine. Actually, it's a solo game. It doesn't really matter whether I look at it or not. Haha, you brought cash, I brought a card."

Han Fei said, waving his UnionPay card.

"Let's begin," Xia Xin skillfully opened League of Legends. "What are the rules?"

"One hundred hits for one blood and one tower? No, that's too boring. Let's just fight for one blood."

"Okay." Xia Xin agreed immediately. Fighting for one blood was a pure test of skill, with no chance of cheating or last-hitting or tower-killing.

Han Fei understood clearly. He saw his skill and wanted to compete with him. He was a man who refused to give up.

Han Fei thought for a moment and added, "From your playstyle, I know you're a frequent solo player. Let's not play tactical. Everyone knows defensive gear is more cost-effective than offensive gear. I don't want to see two ADCs with thalers and blue shields go head-to-head."

"Then follow the ranked strategy: flash, healing, and no defensive gear for the first three items."

The solo match officially began.

A crowd of people were already buzzing with discussion about how long Xia Xin could hold out and when he would be defeated.

Xia Xin pointed his mouse at Vayne, hesitated, then moved it to Lucian. Then, with a change of heart, he pointed it at Vayne again. Hesitating between the two, he landed on Vayne when the timer was up.

Han Fei, standing next to him, had already made his selection and, without further ado, stared directly at Xia Xin's screen, his face bewildered. "Night Hunter Vayne? I thought you were definitely going to pick Lucian. Do you think you can make it to Vayne's mid-game peak?"

As expected, Han Fei chose Lucian. After watching Lucian yesterday, he was naturally excited. He wanted to show off in front of Xia Xin. Using their strongest hero and defeating them—that's the real sense of accomplishment, isn't it?

Almost half the people in the internet cafe were watching the two of them on their computers.

A few were there to see them, while the majority were just following the trend. It was an unprecedented spectacle.

Xia Xin stared at Vayne's login screen, a bit stunned.

Win or lose?

Xia Xin on the blue side, Han Fei on the purple side, both of them arriving online at the same time.

Vayne isn't a particularly strong champion in the early game. Her real strength comes after she gets the Ruined King, especially after getting the Red Cross, where her mid-game damage is the most explosive. However, Lucian is a decent AD carry in all three stages, with excellent burst. He can easily knock down an AD carry by over half health with a single set. Most importantly... he's a solid early-game champion, and his passive, which hits twice in a row, is incredibly damaging in a fight.

Han Fei was already wondering if he'd overestimated his opponent by picking a champion like Vayne. At first glance, this champion might seem powerful against tanks, but that's about it. It's almost universally accepted that Draven, Lucian, Graves, and so on are all superior to Vayne in a one-on-one duel.

Hmph, I won't show any mercy. Since you're asking for death, I'll grant you my wish. This game is a sure win.

For Vayne to fight Lucian, it's no longer a matter of picking the second tier. If the two are equally skilled, Vayne will be at a disadvantage for the first six levels.

As soon as the bottom lane came online, Lucian circled around to the left flank of Vayne's blue minions, attempting to attack Vayne and prevent her from gaining experience, demonstrating his characteristically brutal playstyle.

Vaine, in turn, darted around the minions to the right, with an archer between them.

Lucian used his Q, unleashing a beam of light, but was met by Vayne's Q. He rolled over, but still took two basic attacks from Lucian's passive, as Vayne also used a basic attack with her Q.

The two exchanged a small amount of health, with Vayne suffering a slight loss of just over 10 points.

As the saying goes, an expert knows a thing or two from a single move.

Just by looking at his Q, Lucian knew that as long as Vayne had a Q, he couldn't reach her, and if he didn't, Lucian wouldn't.

Lucian positioned himself cautiously, trying not to draw aggro from the archers in the back row, hoping to gain an advantage. Vayne was even more cautious, preventing him from even touching her. If he dared force a touch, the three archers in the back row would surely give him a lesson.

Both players kept their focus on farm and attacking minions while maneuvering.

This was a mind game between experts.

They circled the minions two and a half times, and Lucian simply gave up. Unable to spot Vayne's misalignment, he used his Q to attack three minions, dealing as much damage as possible, even if it meant sacrificing their gold to get to the second level.

Once Vayne reached the second level, if she didn't retreat back to the tower, he would definitely lose first blood.
