Chapter 8: CHAPTER 8[BEGINNING OF TRAINING ARC]
[Jilpa's POV – The Walk Home]
The afternoon sun beat down on Jilpa's back as he walked home, the ancient book Rivaan had given him tucked under his arm. His thoughts were racing, a mix of curiosity and apprehension about what Rivaan had shared.
Jilpa (thinking): "Manifesting my chains into solid objects? Sounds insane. But... if it works, it could change everything."
He glanced at the book again, the worn cover promising secrets that few had likely uncovered.
Jilpa (thinking): "A perfect body, huh? Balance, strength, harmony. Rivaan's got the patience for that kind of stuff. Me? Not so much."
He smirked to himself, imagining Rivaan meditating in some temple, looking all serious.
Jilpa (thinking): "Still... if Rivaan's willing to train with me, maybe I can make it work. Those demons have been messing with us for weeks now. If I can make my chains stronger, they'll have no choice but to back off."
[Lingering Doubts]
As he approached his house, a flicker of doubt crept into his mind.
Jilpa (thinking): "But what if I can't do it? What if this whole 'perfect body' thing is out of my reach? My chains work fine the way they are, don't they?"
He sighed, kicking a pebble down the street.
Jilpa (thinking): "No. Fine isn't enough. Not with those sins, demons or vengeful spirits lurking around. They're getting stronger, bolder. If we don't step up, we're done for."
He thought back to Rivaan's resolve, the fire in his friend's eyes as he spoke about mastering his Light Heat. Rivaan was dead serious about this.
Jilpa (thinking): "If he's all in, I've got to be too. No way I'm letting Rivaan outdo me. This isn't just about power anymore. It's about survival."
[A Glimpse of Purpose]
As Jilpa reached his front door, he paused, staring at the weathered wood. His reflection in the glass window caught his eye—long red-and-white hair, crimson and white eyes that seemed to burn with a new intensity.
Jilpa (thinking): "This isn't just about me anymore. Rivaan and I... we're in this together. And if these powers of ours are as rare, we've got a responsibility to use them right."
He tightened his grip on the book and stepped inside, determination simmering beneath his usually carefree demeanor.
Jilpa (thinking): "Alright, Rivaan. Let's see what this 'perfect body' thing is all about."
[Three-Month Time Skip – Training Arc]
Month 1: Discovering Their Limits Week 1
Jilpa and Rivaan began their journey in the hills surrounding the outskirts of Beijing, an area steeped in ancient legends and rumored to be teeming with spirits. It was an exhausting start.
Jilpa's Training:
Jilpa focused on meditating near spiritual areas as instructed by the book. While initially impatient, he began to feel a faint connection to the energy around him by the fourth day. He spent hours in isolation, visualizing his chains becoming tangible, but they flickered in and out like a mirage.
Rivaan's Training:
Rivaan worked on controlling his Light Heat. Standing under a tree at dawn, he practiced emitting light beams with less intensity, trying to focus them into controlled bursts rather than destructive explosions. Most attempts either fizzled out or scorched the surrounding area, much to his frustration.
By the end of the week, both boys realized they had barely scratched the surface.
Week 4
The last week of the month was a breakthrough for Rivaan.
Rivaan's Progress:
He discovered he could visualize his beams in his mind before manifesting them. This mental clarity allowed him to produce small orbs of condensed light that didn't explode. Though far from mastery, it was a significant step forward.
Jilpa's Frustration:
Jilpa's chains still refused to solidify. One evening, he snapped, venting his frustration by summoning his chains and thrashing at the air. The sudden outburst caused them to momentarily harden and crack the ground. It was the first sign that raw emotion might be the key to his power.
Month 2: Gaining Momentum Week 1
The duo shifted their training to a centuries-old temple at Rivaan's suggestion. Cause that place helped him discover his powers.
Jilpa's Emotional Control:
Jilpa started experimenting with channeling specific emotions—anger, determination, even fear—to summon his chains. By mid-week, he managed to manifest one fully solid chain, though it drained him entirely.
Rivaan's Precision:
Rivaan moved from creating light orbs to shaping them into beams and thin blades. His focus was on precision and sustainability, learning to minimize the energy he expended.
Collaboration:
Both began sparring with each other—Jilpa using his chains to defend against Rivaan's beams. This not only strengthened their bond but also helped them understand the limits and strengths of their abilities.
Week 4
They returned to the hills to test their progress.
Jilpa's Chains Evolve:
Jilpa managed to summon three solid chains simultaneously for the first time, using them to crush boulders and trap roaming spirits in the area.
Rivaan's Combative Use:
Rivaan developed a technique to emit light in rapid bursts, temporarily blinding and stunning the spirits they encountered. However, this left him drained, showing the need for further endurance training.
Month 3: Mastering Techniques Week 1
The boys divided their time between the temple and the hills, perfecting what they had learned.
Jilpa's Mastery:
Jilpa learned to fully control the solidity of his chains, making them lighter for quick strikes or heavier for devastating blows. He also experimented with forming the chains into protective barriers around himself.
Rivaan's Finesse:
Rivaan refined his beams further, creating concentrated blasts capable of piercing through dense material. His control improved dramatically, and he could now use his powers without causing unintended destruction.
Week 4
They ended the month with a joint test of their powers against an enormous spirit that had been terrorizing a nearby Temple.
The Battle:
Jilpa used his chains to immobilize the spirit while Rivaan delivered a precise, searing beam to its core. The combination of their abilities worked flawlessly, proving they were becoming a formidable team.
[Reflections After Three Months]
As they sat on a hill overlooking the temple, both exhausted but satisfied, they reflected on how far they had come.
Rivaan: "Three months ago, I couldn't even stop myself from blowing up a building."
Jilpa (grinning): "And three months ago, I didn't think I'd ever get these chains to work properly."
Rivaan (seriously): "But this isn't it, Jilpa. We're strong now, yeah, but those sins... they're going to fucking push us harder than anything we've faced."
Jilpa (nodding): "Then we fuck them back. We've got this, Rivaan".
