Episode XCIX: Farewell Zokor Island

Jax collapsed, drained of blood and energy after the fight. Surprisingly, he woke a few hours later, bound and presented before the chancellor.

"So, you've finally uncovered the island's truth," the chancellor gloated. "I can't let you roam free for that. Besides, thanks to the Kori family, I got my revenge for my brother Sekel's death at your hands. Now it’s only your hands left since the others are gone." He laughed heartily as Jax struggled against his chains with his one good arm.

"Stop squirming; it's futile," Sekel chided.

"And what will become of the island now that your plan is exposed?" Jax asked.

"We'll blow it up and start anew so I can lure more fighters to their doom," replied the chancellor, rubbing his bald head.

"If I had any strength left, I would have broken these chains ages ago," Jax muttered to himself. "How do we evacuate everyone from here?"

"We can broadcast a signal to the other fighters through their spirit guardians," Tethys suggested.

"I want revenge too," chimed in Strix.

"Wait, Strix is here too?" Jax asked in surprise.

"Yes. You inherited your brother’s eye which means you now possess two spirit guardians and should also have access to his specials,” Tethys explained.

"My brother knew all along that he was going to die and save me from Yoji,” Jax murmured in realization.

"That was indeed his plan months ago,” Strix confirmed.

As an unfamiliar aura surged within him, Jax managed to break free from his chains. The Chancellor turned around in shock asking how he'd managed such a feat with so little energy left. He hurled an energy ball towards Jax who flew back and stumbled over a desk before crashing into a wall.

"Why can't you people just die peacefully? Why must you always play the hero? This place isn't worth saving. Why risk your life for strangers?" the Chancellor taunted.

"Because they are my family. You took my brother and my comrades from me," Jax retorted, gathering his strength.

"Jax, if you transform into us, Strix and I won't be able to broadcast the signal. It will cancel itself out," Tethys warned.

"So, hand-to-hand combat it is," Strix suggested.

With a determined nod, Jax charged at the Chancellor while Tethys and Strix sent out a warning to all spirit guardians on the island. Panic ensued as fighters rushed towards two large ships docked nearby.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor was overpowering Jax, throwing him across the hall and onto the beach. Bruised and battered, Jax coughed up blood as he rolled across the grass. The Chancellor picked him up by his head and slammed him into a wall thrice before revealing that he had been using the Kori’s as pawns to further his plan for world dominance.

"Not if I have anything to do with it,” a voice interrupted them. Turning around, they saw Yoji standing there half-baked yet angry.

"I heard everything you said about us being mere pawns in your wicked game. You never cared about me or our family name,” Yoji spat angrily before charging at the chancellor with an ice punch that sent him flying into a building.

"Spare yourself and leave this island if you wish to continue your legacy," Yoji advised before walking away. A silent Jax slowly got up and staggered towards one of the escape boats as he watched Yoji's body vanish into thin air.

Yoji then formed an icy black fist which relentlessly attacked Chancellor’s body until he put a hole through his stomach area and kicked him through a wooden wall. "Looks like we're both going to die on this island together. Sweet dreams, fraudcellor," were Yoji's last words before a massive explosion sent shockwaves that rocked the boats at sea.

As the boat continued to sail away into the sunset, Jax and the other fighters watched their former home disappear into nothingness.
