Chapter 141: Chapter 141: The Judgment of Legends — Tobirama's Final Words to His Students
In truth, Jiraiya hadn't revealed anything crucial to the Third Hokage.
Gin and the others had no intention of executing Hiruzen. Instead, they planned to humiliate him publicly—forcing him to sweep the village streets and clean public toilets. The Sarutobi clan, too, wouldn't be spared. The clan wouldn't be destroyed outright, but its members would be sent on missions of varying danger levels based on their sins and Gin's personal judgment. Over time, this would drain their strength and resources.
Eventually, the Sarutobi clan would either dissolve completely or scatter. In essence, nothing would remain. Since Hiruzen had always called the Sarutobi a "civilian clan," Gin would fulfill that vision—by making them exactly that.
The Shimura clan's fate was even crueler. All adult members would be assigned the most dangerous, high-failure missions—ones typically refused by others. As for the children, they would be absorbed into the newly restructured Root. After undergoing intense brainwashing, they would serve as suicide operatives on the most perilous assignments—atoning through death. This cycle would continue until the clan ceased to exist.
The Utatane and Mitokado clans were slightly more fortunate—not only because they switched allegiance in time, but also because their transgressions were far less egregious than the Sarutobi and Shimura. Their punishment consisted of a fivefold restitution fine for embezzlement, the loss of some members to dangerous missions, and total exclusion from Konoha's decision-making core. For minor clans like them, even this was a crippling blow—they would struggle for the next decade or two, with no future of prominence.
None of this was revealed to Hiruzen, so as not to drive him into utter despair.
As for suicide—Gin had already taken precautions. Specialized sealing formulas had been placed on Hiruzen to prevent any self-harm or escape from judgment.
Now, back to the main platform.
When the moment came, Gin stepped onto the stage accompanied by the First and Second Hokage, Uzumaki Mito, Uchiha Hikari, and Nara Shikayama.
The public reading of Hiruzen and Danzo's crimes began. Every word echoed clearly across the silent gathering.
Hiruzen stood still, lips pressed into a thin line. Danzo tried to argue, to object—but his mouth had been sealed shut. Gin had no intention of letting him spew lies.
Once the list of crimes had been read, Tobirama stepped forward with a grave expression and declared:
"After due deliberation, we have reached a final judgment. Danzo Shimura is sentenced to three days of eternal execution. He will be bound here on this very platform, and any Konoha resident who holds a grudge may exact their revenge by killing him. Do not fear—his body has been altered. He will revive instantly after each death. Everyone will have a chance. His strength and chakra have been sealed. He cannot retaliate."
A shocked murmur swept through the crowd.
Then came whispers of approval. Eyes turned toward Danzo—fierce, hateful, hungry for justice.
Danzo and Hiruzen stared at Tobirama. Their silent gazes pleaded: Teacher, are you serious? We were your students! Why such cruelty?
But Danzo couldn't speak, and Hiruzen didn't dare.
Unmoved, Tobirama continued coldly:
"As for Sarutobi Hiruzen, former Third Hokage... his power shall be permanently sealed. From this day forward, he will sweep the main road from Konoha's gates to the Hokage Tower. He will also clean the public toilets. This sentence is for life—and even after death, he will be resurrected with Edo Tensei to continue his duty. After Danzo's punishment ends, he will join him. Together, they will sweep the streets and scrub latrines."
The crowd stood stunned. This was not just a punishment—it was soul-crushing.
Then came a voice:
"YES! That's the justice we wanted!"
"Serves them right! I support this verdict!"
First a few, then dozens, then the entire crowd began chanting in approval. Despite the severity, the villagers felt the sentence was fair—fitting retribution for betrayal.
Initially, many had followed Gin blindly, unsure why the Third Hokage deserved such hatred. But Nara Shikayama's careful reading of the extensive crimes, done in Gin's name, had stirred righteous fury.
This was the nature of public opinion.
"Sensei…" Hiruzen and Danzo's eyes wavered, disbelief etched deep within. They had expected punishment, yes—but this? It felt like an erasure of their very legacies. And the clause about post-death labor? Unthinkable.
But Tobirama didn't flinch.
"Do you not deserve this?" Tobirama growled at Hiruzen. "I entrusted the Will of Fire to you. I died shielding you—young and unprepared—but I believed in your heart. I believed you would strengthen Konoha and nurture all its clans equally."
He paused.
"And what did you do?"
"You turned Konoha into your personal estate, strengthening your clan alone. You suppressed every other clan in the village—especially mine. The Senju Clan, who fought and bled for Konoha's foundation, became your scapegoat. You sent my clansmen to die on the front lines—again and again, until entire platoons were wiped out!"
Gasps echoed from the crowd.
"You resumed illegal experiments on Wood Release, deceiving and sacrificing Senju children. Hundreds died in secret facilities under your orders. Even when the practice was banned, you intended to resume it—using the remaining Senju civilians and even Tsunade and Nawaki."
A ripple of shock went through the gathering.
"If not for Gin, who rescued Lady Mito and revived the Uzumaki's prestige, you would've gone through with it. My clan—my legacy—would've been annihilated. All for your ambition."
Tobirama's voice cracked, rage and grief blended.
"This is my home! You betrayed me, betrayed my trust, betrayed the Will of Fire I passed down!"
He turned his back on them with finality.
"And this… is still too lenient."
He addressed the crowd once more:
"As for the clans that aided and abetted this tyranny—fear not. Our new Hokage is merciful. Their total destruction has been spared. But accountability? That, they will not escape."
"You cowardly traitors—this is justice!" Tobirama spat and walked off the platform.
Hiruzen and Danzo remained paralyzed, faces drained of color.
Because everything Tobirama had said… was true.
Their eyes turned slowly toward Gin, Hikari, Mito. It was Gin's intervention that had shattered their carefully laid plans for Nawaki and Tsunade.
Gasps and exclamations rumbled from below the stage.
"So that's what they really were… Monsters!"
"Their own teacher's clan—sacrificed like that? What hope was there for the rest of us?"
"Inhuman!"
"Beasts in human skin!"
"No wonder Lady Mito and the Uchihas helped take them down!"
More and more villagers spoke up:
"Thank the gods they were stopped! Who knows what would've become of Konoha otherwise?"
"Didn't you notice? The small clans have been vanishing for the last ten years! And now we know why—because of those two!"
"They were too strong. We civilians and smaller clans couldn't speak out. We'd be dead the next day."
"This is what happens when someone from a minor clan becomes Hokage! The Sarutobi were never a top-tier clan—just average in numbers, and nowhere near the Senju or Uchiha in strength or lineage."
"That's probably why Hiruzen hoarded the village's resources—he needed to elevate his clan."
"Exactly. That's why Hokage should rotate between major clans—or even come from civilian roots, but never from greedy minor ones."
Voices continued:
"The Senju were always honorable—too straightforward to suppress others. That's why the village prospered during the reigns of Hashirama and Tobirama."
"And the Uchihas? We all misunderstood them because of Hiruzen's propaganda. They were painted as cold and arrogant."
"Those who've actually spoken with Uchihas know—they're honest, bold, proud, but warm-hearted. They loathe deceit and bullying. They make loyal friends."
"That's right! And ever since the reforms led by Lady Hikari, they've only gotten better. Even their pride has softened."
"Isn't that Gin's doing? He encouraged Lady Hikari to create a clan school when he was just six!"
"At six, I was still rolling in mud! No wonder Gin became Hokage at ten!"
"He'll bring peace, real peace!"
"He already has. Just look at the early results of his Five-Year Plan!"
"That boy… He's our future!"
Cheers rose through the square.
Praises for Gin, the Uchiha, and the Senju echoed loud and clear—while Hiruzen, Danzo, and their allies were left drowning in shame and scorn.
