Chapter 43: Chapter 43 – Resonance Beyond Blood
"Weapons… you mean the uchiwa fan?"
Hearing the word weapon, the first thing that popped into Gin's mind was the blazing uchiwa fan enshrined in Tajima's home.
He knew it could manipulate fūton (wind release) to enhance and reflect katon (fire release) jutsu, but at most that only boosted combat power a bit. If Tajima truly counted that as his trump card… it would be pathetic.
"Weapons aren't always tools," Yao replied, shaking his head, then slowly raised a finger to point at his own eyes.
Gin immediately nodded, fully aware of the world's bloodline logic.
"So you're saying… Tajima's weapons were two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan."
Yao gave a satisfied nod."That's right. You and Nameless."
......
At the same time, inside the Uchiha clan leader's building.
In the clan leader's office, several figures sat in secret conference.
"Clan leader-dono, Uchiha Ryōei has already extracted the sealed location from the Sarutobi prisoner," reported the rotund Uchiha En, bowing low, his tone deferential yet tinged with pride.
"Is the intel reliable?"
Tajima didn't even open his eyes as he spoke, his voice cold.
"Absolutely." En patted his chest as he swore.
"Myo, has the control device been completed?"
Tajima finally cracked an eye open, turning to the frail Uchiha Myo seated opposite.
"The device integrating multiple fūinjutsu has been fully tested."
Myo kept his head lowered, answering evenly.
"Good. This time… we cannot fail again. The Uchiha will rule this Warring States era."
Tajima's other eye opened now, both swirling with strange patterns, emanating suffocating pressure.
"That old Yao is still behaving himself, I trust?"
His gaze fell sharply on En, who almost shrank into his chair.
"H-he spends all day reading and scribbling notes on outdated theories. No unusual behavior."
Wiping his brow, En stammered his report.
"Ah… after all, he was once my teacher." Tajima's eyes dimmed briefly before hardening again."As long as he doesn't overstep… we'll release him once everything is done."
"Clan leader-dono is merciful," En and Myo said in unison.
......
Inside the 0th cell.
Gin and Yao sat across from each other. Yao's single visible eye glinted with pity and anger.
"That vile Tajima… after years of brainwashing experiments, he completely erased your and Nameless's free will. He turned you both into pawns he could control at will."
"And after Myo's experiments… he discovered you two shared an extraordinary resonance. When your Mangekyōs worked together, the whole was greater than the sum of its parts."
Gin frowned. "You've said all that… but what exactly were our Mangekyō abilities?"
He'd held back the question long enough — now that he knew the original once possessed a Mangekyō, he was desperate to know what powers it held.
"Your right eye," Yao said softly, "houses the flame said to be the strongest in legend… Amaterasu."
Gin instinctively touched his right eye. So that time he unleashed Amaterasu with just a two-tomoe Sharingan… it hadn't been a system cheat. He'd actually wielded it before, so his body remembered how.
Then… if his right eye was Amaterasu, his left…?
He winced slightly as certain painful memories flashed through his mind.
"Your left eye can unleash the Uchiha's strongest mental attack — the genjutsu, Tsukuyomi (Moon Reader)."
Just as he thought. His Mangekyō matched the great filial son's in the future perfectly. No wonder his system kept refreshing those two techniques.
Now that he thought about it, even his monstrous strength hadn't come from nowhere — it had shown up the same day Uzumaki Mito used her own incredible strength. And with the system having fused a trace of Uzumaki blood into him… the pattern was clear.
What seemed random… actually followed logic.
Gin rubbed his chin thoughtfully, already pondering how he could leverage this to get more practical skills refreshed.
"Your Mangekyō," Yao continued gravely, "is the perfect blade. One that Tajima wanted to wield himself."
"And Nameless's Mangekyō…"
Hearing this, Gin quickly suppressed his wandering thoughts and focused again.
"One of her Mangekyō abilities was something called Kagutsuchi. It allows her to control flames freely, shaping them into attacks and defenses as she wishes."
Kagutsuchi…!
Gin's eyes widened slightly. That was Sasuke's Mangekyō technique in the future, perfectly complementing Amaterasu.
"It's as if her Kagutsuchi was born to complement your Amaterasu," Yao went on. "Together, the two of you unleashed Enton: Kagutsuchi — a scythe of death on the battlefield."
For a moment, madness and satisfaction mingled in Yao's expression.
"And her other eye?" Gin pressed.
Yao seemed mildly annoyed by the interruption, but he drew a deep breath and continued.
"Her other Mangekyō ability… was something called Yasakani no Magatama (Eight Thousand Spears)."
Gin froze.
That was a name he'd never heard before. In his memory of the series, only a handful of Mangekyō powers were ever revealed, and this wasn't one of them.
Seeing Gin's expectant look, Yao hesitated before finally speaking:
"The Eight Thousand Spears ability is… unusual. It places a seal — a mark — on a target. Anyone bearing that mark can have their spirit and chakra manipulated through the connection."
At first it sounded like a simple control skill to Gin — useful in one-on-one or crowd control, but hardly impressive.
"You're underestimating it," Yao said flatly, seeing the doubt in his grandson's eyes.
Gin nodded faintly. He was skeptical. Surely it came with limitations — otherwise, if you could just mark everyone and turn them all into batteries on command, it'd be as broken as Kaguya's Infinite Tsukuyomi.
But the more he thought about it… the colder his sweat ran down his back. He swallowed hard and looked at Yao.
"…Can the Eight Thousand Spears be used in conjunction with my Tsukuyomi?" he asked, his voice faintly trembling.
Yao's expression turned somber.
"That's right. When Eight Thousand Spears is layered onto your Tsukuyomi, you can pull the moon of your illusion into reality — and everyone under its light is branded with the mark. We called this technique…"
"Inscribed Tsukuyomi."
