Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Naruto's Dream
Arriving at a quiet, deserted place, Naruto laid Haku on the ground, slowly infusing Reiatsu from his own body into that bewildered soul.
"You will have a chance to live again."
Haku, who had already lost consciousness, suddenly discovered a new power appearing within his body.
This power coursed through his system, repairing various parts of his body, feeling warm and comforting.
He could hear the crisp chirping of small birds, could smell the fragrance of fresh grass.
Experiencing nature so closely, his heart suddenly became exceptionally calm.
At the same time, doubt arose in his mind.
"Didn't I die? My heart was pierced by that ninjutsu."
"Why am I still conscious? Where is Zabuza-sama?"
He opened his eyes in confusion, and the first thing he saw was Naruto's gentle face.
"Naruto, did you die too?" he asked, astonished, subconsciously touching his own body.
There were no wounds on his chest; his entire body was completely unharmed.
"This is..." Haku got up, only to find a corpse lying beside him. He leaned in for a closer look and saw that it was himself.
His chest was pierced, his body bathed in blood.
"I... I'm dead?"
"Just as you see, you are already dead," Naruto's magnetic voice sounded.
Haku looked over in confusion, only to see Naruto smiling and pointing at him.
"But now, you have been reborn."
Naruto briefly explained the process of Haku's revival. Haku's expression shifted from initial disbelief to a final, accepting bewilderment.
"Naruto, Zabuza-sama... he..." Haku hesitated.
"He is already dead," Naruto said softly.
Neither Kakashi nor Gato's group would let Zabuza live, so his end was already destined.
"Haku, you now have a new life. From now on, you should live for yourself," Naruto said gently.
"Zabuza-sama is dead?" Haku's spirits sank, his eyes filled with sadness and confusion.
He badly wanted to ask Naruto why he didn't use the same method to revive Zabuza.
But thinking about it carefully, the cost of doing so must have been enormous. He had already revived him; how could he dare to ask for more?
But, without Zabuza-sama, what can I even do?
"As I said, your past self has already given your life for Zabuza. Your current self should live for you. What are your plans for the future?" Naruto inquired.
"I don't know." Haku looked at his own vibrant hands in confusion.
In this Shinigami state, a fusion of chakra and Reiatsu, his normal state was almost indistinguishable from that of a living person.
It was as if... he were still alive.
"Naruto-kun, why did you revive me? Actually, it would have been fine to just let me die like that."
Hearing Haku's words, Naruto chuckled lightly and said, "I highly value your potential. Your Kekkei Genkai is very powerful. I don't wish for a genius to die so obscurely."
Hearing Naruto's sincere answer, Haku fell silent. After a long moment, he said, "But I don't like fighting."
"I understand." Naruto smiled and sat down beside Haku, quietly watching the setting sun.
"That was just my initial thought. Later, I was moved by your kindness. To be able to follow a missing-nin and still retain such kindness is truly rare and commendable."
Speaking of this, a trace of envy appeared in Naruto's eyes as he said softly, "Did you know? Actually, from the moment I was born, I was detested by the entire village. Everyone wished I were dead. Even Grandpa Hokage, the only one who cared about me, only wanted to control the Tailed Beast within me."
"How could that be? Naruto-kun, you're so gentle; many people should like you," Haku exclaimed, his face a mask of disbelief.
He had heard of Tailed Beasts before; they were terrifying monsters capable of shaking ninja villages, and also war weapons for the villages.
The lives of all Tailed Beast Jinchuriki were not good; they could even be considered terrible. "So, when I saw that kindness in you, I was truly envious. If there had been someone who retained such kindness during my childhood, perhaps it wouldn't have left me with such painful memories," Naruto looked at Haku, his eyes filled with sincerity.
"It is precisely because of this that I didn't want you to die just like that."
"I don't want there to be one less piece of kindness in this world."
Hearing Naruto's words, an indescribable emotion flickered in Haku's eyes, and his smile was like a blooming flower. "Naruto-kun, in my opinion, you too are someone who possesses this precious kindness."
"Thank you." Naruto withdrew his gaze, smiling as he looked at the sunset.
A sudden feeling stirred in Haku's heart.
If he were to speak of dreams, it seemed he didn't really have one right now.
Thinking of this, Haku suddenly asked, "Naruto-kun, do you have a dream?"
"A dream? In the past, I wanted to continuously grow stronger. But after leaving the village and witnessing so much cruel reality, I think..." Naruto's gaze firmed. He stood up and said, word by word, "I want to overthrow the corrupt rule, use the most powerful strength to reach the pinnacle of the heavens, become the one who sets the rules, and let this world achieve peace in its truest sense!"
"No killing, no pain, everyone can live according to their dreams!"
"World peace? So this is Naruto's dream! It's so unreachable, yet so longed for." For some reason, tears welled up in Haku's eyes. Looking at the smiling Naruto before him, he seemed to see a warm sun.
In Haku's memory, this world was so cruel.
His clan was exterminated, he drifted to other small towns, surrounded by all sorts of malice.
Fortunately, he was later found by Zabuza-sama and lived a life accompanied by slaughter.
The wars in the ninja world were chaotic and unending. He and Zabuza had also wandered from place to place, without a fixed home.
He had seen too much despair and pain, and instinctively yearned for peace.
But, in a world like this, was peace truly possible?
"I believe you can do it, Naruto." Haku looked at Naruto, his tone extremely firm.
For some reason, his heart just believed so deeply.
Naruto had that ability, that charisma.
Haku, who had never had a dream and only ever followed Zabuza, at this moment felt an impulse surge from within his heart.
He wanted to witness this peace; he wanted to help bring about this peace.
"Naruto, how do you plan to achieve your dream?" Haku pressed.
Naruto pondered for a moment, then replied:
"Possess power that surpasses the ninja world, power that is unparalleled, and eliminate the higher-ups of all major countries and ninja villages."
"Then become the one who sets the rules, bearing all the malice, so that the world can welcome true peace."
"But that will surely involve a lot of killing, right?" Haku asked with a frown.
From the scene Naruto described, his future enemies would be the entire ninja world! "If killing is necessary to make these brutal people fear and suffer, then let me become the world's last... devil!"
"Only by experiencing suffering will humanity understand the terror of killing."
Naruto turned, looked at Haku, a warm smile on his face.
"Naruto..." Haku's mouth fell slightly agape, clearly not expecting Naruto's resolve to be so strong.
To bear all the world's malice... "But Naruto, can the deterrence of power alone truly bring peace?" Haku asked curiously.
Judging from historical events, power was not enough to bring peace.
The God of Shinobi back then possessed power sufficient to awe everyone. Under his suppression, the ninja world did indeed have an extremely brief period of peace. But after the God of Shinobi died, the ninja world fractured again, ushering in new ninja world wars.
Facts proved that power was not the key to bringing peace.
