Chapter 24: 024 Hyuga Lindy
"Oh, so we're going back to Konoha with Simu's girlfriend?"
Kushina said, looking at Hyuga Lindy with a teasing smile before glancing at Simu.
Jiraiya, sitting cross-legged on the ground, added with a grin, "You could say that."
Simu rolled his eyes and kept his hands in his pockets, too lazy to argue with Kushina about it.
Meanwhile, Hyuga Lindy blushed and said quietly,
"I'm not his girlfriend..."
Kushina leaned closer to her and extended her hand with a bright smile.
"Hi, I'm Kushina, and I'm going to be Konoha's first female Hokage one day!"
"Hello," Hyuga Lindy replied, looking like a frightened fawn.
It seems she hasn't fully escaped the trauma of being captured by underground hunters.
Perhaps sensing Kushina's kindness, she introduced herself softly: "My name is Hyuga Lindy, and my dream is..."
She lowered her head, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't have any dreams."
Sensing Lindy's sadness, Kushina gently patted her undeveloped chest like a caring older sister. "It's okay! When I become Hokage, I'll make sure to protect you!"
Hyuga Lindy glanced at Kushina, feeling flattered, and replied softly, "Thank you."
Simu yawned, picked up the simple fishing rod he had just finished, and then disappeared.
"What did he go for?" Hyuga Lindy asked, pointing in the direction where Simu had disappeared.
Kushina rolled her eyes. "He probably went fishing."
"Let me tell you, that guy is really annoying, so don't be fooled by him."
Hyuga Lindy kept nodding and then asked, "Do you know where he went fishing?"
Kushina slapped her forehead. "Oh no, the girl is gone!"
After Lindy left, Minato walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"
Kushina huffed, "I don't know what Simu did to Lindy, but she went to find him."
Minato scratched his blonde hair and said, "You shouldn't keep talking bad about Simu. He doesn't really have any faults, except for his salty fish."
Kushina glared at Minato and replied, "You men never have anything good to say!"
Minato was taken aback.
What does it matter to me?
Looking at the strange atmosphere among the students, Jiraiya smiled slightly.
He leaned on the branch and sighed softly: "Youth is really wonderful."
Then, he pulled out a small notebook and took the opportunity to continue writing his book, "Icha-Icha Paradise."
Simu, who was fishing, turned his head slightly.
"What are you doing here?"
Lindy stopped in her tracks, nervously fiddling with her hands. "I-I came to thank you."
"Thank?"
Simu asked, turning to look at her more closely.
"Yes, thank you for saving me from the Bounty exchange".
Simu waved his hand. "You're welcome. We're classmates; it's what I should do."
Noticing Simu's silence, Hyuga Lindy carefully squatted beside him. "Are you fishing?"
"Okay." Simu held the fishing rod quietly, waiting.
Suddenly, the fishing line shook slightly.
Simu perked up and shook the rod again.
He had hooked something!
He stood up abruptly, waving his hands in excitement.
The slender fishing line glimmered in the sunlight as a fat black fish was pulled from the water.
"Looks like lunch is taken care of," Simu said, a rare smile spreading across his face.
Even a Marine Admiral can't resist the joy of catching fish.
Hyuga Lindy laughed along with him.
"Well, I can help."
"Can you fish?"
Simu looked at Lindy in surprise.
Lindy nodded slightly.
For the next ten minutes, they worked together.
Hyuga Lindy quickly caught fish one after another, leaving Simu amazed.
Feeling a bit embarrassed by his gaze, she whispered, "When I was a kid, I would sneak off to fish when no one wanted to play with me, so..."
"You're really amazing," Simu said, genuinely impressed.
Hyuga Lindy's face turned red instantly.
"Where, where is it..."
Simu gave the fishing rod to Lindy, and then made a new one himself, and the two fished side by side.
After a while, Hyuga Lindy plucked up the courage to ask:
"Simu-san, why are you so amazing?"
"Huh?"
"Just last night, you were really amazing." Hyuga Lindy looked at Simu seriously.
Simu scratched his head. "Not at all; you're the amazing one for catching so many fish..."
As he spoke, Hyuga Lindy's eyes suddenly filled with tears.
"If I could be as good as you, maybe my teammates wouldn't have had to die." Tears fell into the river, creating ripples.
Hyuga Lindy suddenly recalled that terrible night.
Each of her partners had fallen in front of her.
In the end, she was the only one who survived, thanks to her special eyes.
"It's all my fault. If it wasn't for me..." Hyuga Lindy hugged her legs, tears streaming down her face.
"That... it's not your fault." Simu gently placed his palm on top of Lindy's head.
Feeling the temperature above her head, Lindy raised her head with tears in her eyes.
"If you feel that you are too weak, then go get stronger."
"Strong enough to protect the people you want to protect."
