Chapter 2: Heist (1)

"So you're saying you found a way up there..and your plan is to get on surface layer.. steal some stuff and get back down?" Arteus spoke looking up at the guy in front of him who he knows as Derek.

"Hell na-"

"We're in" Suddenly, Abigail who have been quiet spoke up interrupting him.

"-fcourse!!" Art hearing her spoke changed his answer mid word. With a smile.. he was thinking of rejecting it in front of Abigail then joining when she left.. But who would have thought she'd be interested?.

"Nice.. let's go.. we'll start quickly.. so by the time we arrive it should be close to night.." Derek said nodding happily as he turned and began walking.. leading the group towards the..... canyon's wall?

Arteus slowly looks up, his eyes trailing up the canyon's wall until his eyes landed on the familiar metal ceiling. Then he turned around facing the group..

"So....how exactly are we gonna get up there? He asked.. and Derek smiled before pointing at something.

Following his hand.. Arteus gaze landed on a abandoned machinery that is as big as a building.. it a broken down metal smelter. And then his eyes landed on the thick power cable.. then his eyes trailed it.. it slowly slopes up towards the edge of the ceiling? Wait..

"Yup.. we're gonna climb that.. it'll take a while but it's doable... Because I've done it before.. the slope is not too steep.. making it possible to hang and slowly inch our way in to the top.. and to get down.. we can just Zipline our way because the slope is still steep enough to slide us down."

Derek then began explaining the plan. And after a while he asked around if everybody gets it.. and they started moving.

On the giant smelter...

"Art.. Do it slowly Okay? This isn't something you can rush" Abigail..who knows Arteus since they were young spoke.. she knows Arteus tends to get impatient and rush things.. so she was worried he'll do the same thing on the cable.

"I might be annoying but I'm not dumb.. don't worry I'm not gonna do something stupid here" he laughed at her and watched her reached for the cable and hooks her leg on to it.. then she fastened a belt that connects to her into the cable and began crawling upside down on the cable wire.

And finally.. it was his turn , he reaches for the cable..then he pulled himself up and locks his leg on the cable and hugged it tightly.. before fastening a belt that Derek provided them.. and just like what Abigail did..he began slowly crawling up to the cable while being upside down.

And just like that 35 minutes have passed.. he could see the edge and the end of the cable.. he could also see the group waiting for him.

He shudders from the wind hitting his face.. looking down, he once again wonders just how high they are.. he could see the people on the slum walking around like ants.. his arm and legs feels sore.. but it's not hurting as much as they can take a break on the wire with the belt keeping them suspended without much effort on their side.

He couln't belive it back then he thought hed be at least 20 or something to have a glimpse of the surface.. but he actually got an opportunity already? He wanted to squeel in excitement but held himself and continue his climb.

After a few more moments.. he finally reached the end of the wire.. and Abigail and Derek helped him get down.. then he looked where the wire ends.. and saw that it goes into a hole on a large metallic box and up to the main power. It seems like the connection has been turned off for a while now as the box looks old and unmaintained.

They're on a metal platform hanging on the edge of the "Ceiling" with ladder leading up on the surface on the other end of the platform.. Whats more, the entire thing doesnt have any railing and the floor is see through as it was a just mesh of thick metals.

"Anyway.. since everyone's here we will rest for a few hours before moving on to our plan.. again I'll remind you, do not rob the people in here.. just steal the items around the place without being seen. Because almost all of them have a small device they can use to call for the guards.. and we don't want that.. am I understood??" Derek spoke and asked the group. Receiving a dull yes in reply which he accepted.

Soon a quiet but relaxing sound began coming out of the group as they began talking to each other about their excitement. Because some of them never got in this place.. That includes Art and Abigail.

And just like that.. night arrived..and they started their move. They finally left the platform, and climbing a metal ladder the group officially made it to the surface. The group then separated individually.. because it's less suspicious the way and was easier to hide.

They have also planned on meeting at the alley just a few turns away from this ladder before climbing down and going to the cable and ziplining down.. because they dont want anyone find out about the cable that have yet to be removed.

Arteus quickly moved following the pathway just like the rest.. then they reached the alley, the place they planned on meeting up on

And that's where everyone began taking theirs own paths.. and Arteus.. he didn't take one of the alleys but instead he looked up.. and began scaling the wall using the metal tube that seems to be a drain for the roof as the main grip.. and using the weird looking boxes that have a fan inside them as a platform. And just like that he arrived on the tiled roofs..

His eyes widdened and he unconsciously gasp..

In front of his eyes... Is the rumored 'Stars'.. the 'sky' and the 'cloud'.

"whoah.... there's really no ceiling here" he mumbles. Before reluctantly tearing his eye away from it..

Then he began looking around.. the multiple Story houses all are built side by side.. with a small gap in between them which is easy to jump across..

Smiling, Arteus took out a sack from his pocket and unfurls it as he began moving across the roofs.

Occasionally, he would come across strange platforms in front of a window and a door... 'hmm.. why would they place a door here when it's so high up in the ground?.. what are they gonna do here? Stand around? How stupid!' he thought.. but he's not gonna complain.. because these stupid people leaves all kinds of things in here.

On one of those platform Arteus found a table..and on the table he saw strange things.. a rectangular boxes with a glass on it and a few buttons on the side.. he found 7 more of those on different platforms.

He also found strange boxes with metal sticking out.. and it even have a name 'RadioMax' .. And while stealing all kinds of stuff, he made sure to keep hidden and quiet.. staying far from the side of the road where strange machine with wheels moves across.

And just like that.. he filled the sack with all kinds of things he don't know.. some are metallic, some are plastics some are glass like.. and all kinds of trinkets he saw laying on some windows.

'I should get back now... I wonder how many things did the other got' he thought as he began making his way back. When suddenly, one of the window on the platform opened up and a person peaked out.. but at this moment Arteus have already climbed up the roof.
