Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Kannabi Bridge Destroyed
"Kakashi, Rin—are you alright? Where's Obito?!"
A yellow flash lit the forest. Minato, fresh from slicing through enemy ranks like a golden buzzsaw—fifty kills and counting—landed beside them.
"Minato-sensei?!"
"The enemy? Gone. Kakashi's work," Rin said, still catching her breath after witnessing that fire jutsu massacre.
"Obito's trapped inside the cave!"
Minato's eyes widened.
"Wait... Kakashi did all this?"
His gaze scanned the battlefield—charred corpses, at least a hundred by a rough count. His prized student had just soloed a mass execution.
"Impressive. You really don't believe in half-measures, huh?"
"You said 'stop them.' You didn't specify 'gently,'" Kakashi replied dryly, brushing dust off his gloves.
Minato chuckled, proud. "I'll definitely be requesting commendation for this."
"But first—time to dig Obito out."
He stepped forward, chakra surging into a basketball-sized sphere.
"Rasengan!"
Boom!
Dust filled the air. The rock barrier collapsed inward, revealing the cave entrance again.
Rin dashed in—only to stop short.
"Obito?!" she called.
No answer.
Gone.
Kakashi sighed, already knowing. He quietly summoned a shadow clone and handed it a scroll.
"Collect the White Zetsu bodies. Carefully. Don't snack on 'em."
His clone paused, giving him a look.
"What? They're basically plant-based Hashirama jerky. Spicy flavor's probably limited edition."
Of course, Kakashi wasn't seriously thinking about eating them.
Probably.
He just knew these weren't ordinary clones. Madara had grown them using the Divine Tree, boosted with Hashirama's cells.
Obito, in the original timeline, got full-on passive Kamui just by merging with them.
Kakashi? Same eye, same power—but had to ration it like expired ninja rations. Nearly killed himself trying to save Chōji back then.
The unfairness was poetic.
"Obito!"
Rin's voice echoed from the cave.
Still no answer.
She ran back, panicked. "Minato-sensei, he's not there!"
"Calm down, Rin," Minato said, scanning the area.
"No secondary exit. No trace of him. Which means..."
"A top-tier Earth Style user tunneled him out."
Rin gasped. "So... Rock ninja escaped and took him?!"
Kakashi shook his head. "Nah. I fried all of them. Even the ones who looked like they might sneeze Earth Style."
"Whoever took him? Wasn't from that batch."
Minato narrowed his eyes but said nothing.
Kakashi remained casual—but his thoughts raced. If he revealed too much—Zetsu, Madara, timelines—Minato might start questioning the source.
And if he couldn't explain it well enough?
Worst case, they think he's some cursed vessel, or worse—a spy.
Nope. Not the time.
"Anyway, the guy didn't kill Obito. If they went through the effort to steal him instead of roast him, they want something else."
Minato finally nodded. "Fair point."
"Let's complete the mission first. We'll widen the search after."
"Yes, sensei!"
The three took off.
Soon, they reached the Kannabi Bridge, a massive transnational structure linking two countries. Below: a 30-kilometer-wide, raging river—nature's own border patrol.
Without the bridge? Even Jonin would struggle crossing it.
Destroying it would cripple Rock's logistics instantly.
And rebuilding? Ha.
Good luck building a marvel of engineering mid-war while dodging fireballs and kunai.
"Target in sight."
Perched on a treetop, Minato observed the Rock Shinobi garrison below—over 200 soldiers.
"Smart commander," he muttered. "Knows the value of this bridge."
"I'll handle the crowd. You two rig the supports with tags."
Flash. Gone.
Minato blurred into the battlefield like a vengeance spirit.
"Enemy—!"
"It's the Yellow Flash! Run!"
Panic. Screams. But none escaped.
Minato was too fast. Too precise.
Even coordinated ninjutsu fell apart under his blitz.
"Kakashi! Faster!"
"Right. Wouldn't want to show him up by accident."
He and Rin scattered, placing explosive tags at the structural weak points.
Thanks to pre-mission prep, they had a scroll loaded with tens of thousands of tags.
BOOM!
The bridge detonated. Pillars collapsed. Wood, steel, and stone plunged into the roaring river below.
Kakashi turned and gave a lazy two-finger salute to the rubble.
"There. That's our contribution to architecture today."
Minato, having casually slaughtered 200 shinobi, reappeared beside them.
"Good work. Let's get back. We'll report the mission, then start tracking Obito."
He placed one hand on each of their shoulders.
Flash.
Half an hour later—at the Hokage Building.
Huff... huff... huff...
Minato, still catching his breath, placed his hands on his hips.
Using Flying Thunder God repeatedly across that much distance—with two passengers—was exhausting, even for him.
"You okay, sensei?" Kakashi asked, eyebrow raised.
"If it were me, I'd have passed out ten jumps ago. Just saying."
"I'm fine," Minato said between gasps. "I'll report in. You two wait here."
He walked briskly inside—calm on the outside, but worried inside.
Obito was still missing.
If Minato had any clue where to start, he would've begun the search already.
Hopefully... it's not too late.
To be continued.....
