...Meanwhile, under a distant sky...

"Dad how much longer until the meteor shower starts? It's been forever."

"It's only been about ten minutes, pumpkin. The meteor shower is going to start in five."

"Oh."

The •••• National Park was said to have one of the nicest views of the night sky in all of ••••.

As such, David had thought it would make for a wonderful memory if he had brought his young daughter, Penelope, to go and see the King Oledos Meteor Shower.

Every five years, the meteor shower would be visible in the night sky, and thousands upon thousands of observers would stand and stare at this marvel of the universe.

This time, however, some of these onlookers would notice...an entirely different breathtaking event.

One that had to be seen to be believed.

At this moment in time, David had just finished adjusting the telescope that he and his little girl were going to use to watch the meteor shower. But before that, he wanted to show her the wonders of the stars.

"Hey, pumpkin, have you ever heard of the lost constellations?"

"Lost constellations?" Penelope repeated in that way only young children knew how.

"Over the centuries, scientists and philosophers had changed the names of constellations countless times until we settled on the ones we have today. Right now, I have the telescope pointed at the constellation that was once known as the Seahorse. Today, it's known as being simply a cluster of stars found between Eridanus the River, Cetus the Whale, and Taurus the bull.

"Wow!"

Excited at the idea of a seahorse constellation, Penelope ran up to the telescope and hurriedly asked her father to step to the side so that she could see what kind of constellation this seahorse was.

"Now you may not notice it at first, but I can help to point which stars are-"

"Wow, dad! There really is a seahorse! "

"Huh?"

Confused by his daughter's declaration, David directed a strange look in his daughter's direction.

He was all ready to pull out his favorite starmap and show her the exact diagrams that depicted the lost seahorse constellation.

As such, he was a little hurt that he had missed that moment…that is, until he heard this next declaration come from his daughter's lips.

"Whoa! There's also a pegasus and a unicorn! That's so cool!"

"Wait, what?"

While David knew that there was a unicorn constellation and a pegasus constellation, they were nowhere near the star coordinates he had pointed the telescope towards.

This was clearly his daughter's overactive imagination…right?

"Pumpkin, you know the stars don't actually form into the constellation's namesakes, right?"

"I know that daddy, but I'm really seeing a seahorse, a unicorn, and a pegasus. Take a look!" Penelope answered with utmost sincerity.

The little girl excitedly stepped away from the telescope and gestured for her father to look through the telescope and see what she had seen.

Curiosity mixed with paternal worry in Daniel's gut as he looked through the telescope's viewport. However, that feeling was obliterated by a mix of confusion and awe.

"Okay, I…what the what…"

"See? I told you there was a pegasus, a unicorn, and a seahorse!"

"How in the world…"

Through the telescope's view, Daniel could indeed see what appeared to be a seahorse, a pegasus, and a unicorn galloping across the sky as if they were waiting for something.

These three equine beasts all appeared to be made of the night sky and Daniel could even see that their bodies were decorated with the constellations that bore their names.

"No way..."

However, this wondrous sight didn't last too much longer.

As David continued to watch, an unexpected event occurred that was so unusually bright and noticeable that even Penelope, who was simply staring at that sky with naked eyes at this point, cried out in wondrous alarm.

"Whoa! Why is that star so bright?!"

"That's not a star, pumpkin..." David trailed off as he moved off the telescope so that his daughter could see.

Through the telescope, a strange golden vortex in space had suddenly appeared right next to where the equine star beasts that were running around in the first place.

Shortly after this vortex appeared, all three of the horses had begun to slow down their galloping and waited right next to the vortex as of they were waiting for orders to enter.

"What are they doing, daddy?"

"I don't kno—oh!"

The next thing father and daughter knew, the trio of horse creatures had suddenly dove into the vortex one after the other and disappeared alongside it.

There were no explosions or any bright flashes of light ass this threshold was crossed. The only thing that happened immediately after, was the that vortex had spun itself closed and winked out of existence.

All that was left, was the infinite night sky.

"Awww, the horses went away," Penelope complained in that way only kids could get away with."When are they coming back?"

"That..."

David wasn't entirely sure how to answer this question, since this was the first time he had ever seen such an event occurr before his very eyes.

However, for reasons he couldn't understand, he felt compelled to answer as such: "I don't know for sure, pumpkin. But I think they'll back after they finish whatever task that they were summoned to do."

...Meanwhile, across the veil that separates the worlds...

^This feeling is so...mortal.^

^It feels nice...^

^Yet hard at the same time...^

After coming across this strange door in the middle of the [Plains of Eternity], the Gallum Brothers became suddenly filled with the mortal feelings that they thought had disappeared after living in this place for so long.

That stated, though, the brothers understood that this was technically a very bad thing.

To be more precise, they understood that about a dozen or so years ago that they had died due to a failed rebellion, but had been rewarded for their efforts by being brought to a place where their spirits could have all of eternity to ride as freely as they wanted.

But now, for the first time in this suppose eternity, they were being offered a chance to live again...but at a price.

^What do we do?^

^Should we go through it?^

^Do we even have the right to do so?^

No words were exchanged with whomever made this doorway, no terms or conditions were applied to the door in writing, the Gallum Brothers understood what would happen on an instinctual level.

If they went through this door, accepted this offer, they would not be human on the other side.

Their spirits may be the same, their memories too, but the vessels they would be inhabiting would be the embodiment of the things that anchored the dead to the mortal world in the first place.

In other words, they were being asked to willingly leave a place with no worries, no fears, no desires, and no ending, all to be alive as something else.

Logically, they had no reason to accept this coffee and walk through that door.

It was essentially a one way trip, as they had no idea if they would return to this place after dying for a second time. For all they knew, they would simply disappear into nothingness.

And yet, emotionally, the brothers couldn't help but to want to have another go.

When they died, they had left behind a whole mess of loved ones and a lot of unfinished business.

^If we do go back though... we'd have a chance to see father again.^

^We would have a chance to see our homeland once more and breathe in the wind.^

^I would be able to save Maggie and the others from that shitty mine...^

The more and more they thought about this chance, the more the brothers felt compelled to walk through that door.

^Fuck it. Shall we have another go around the bend?^ the middle brother suggested, as he became wrapped in a cloak of wind and feeling as [Free] as the aforementioned element. ^I want to see how high I'll be able to fly.^

^Why not? It's not like we didn't know if we can't come back here after dying again,^ the youngest concurred as the flames of [Hope] began to burn inside of his chest. ^Never say never.^

^Once more, into the breach,^ the eldest concurred, as his skin became hardened and scaled, becoming a physical representation of the [Determination] in his heart. ^This time...this time we're saving you, no matter what happens!^

^Yeah!^

Neigh!

^Huh?^

Hearing these words of promise, the sound of fierce horses could be heard coming from behind the door.
