Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1374: A touch faster (1)

Amongst the falling rubble, rebels, and monsters, Zhen Liu could make out dozens upon dozens of different items he could use as material for kaijin and zakos.

The fragments of weapons.

Ores of varying value.

Corpses of aether beasts that hadn't been fully removed from the battlefield.

Every single last one of these things and more, Zhen Liu could see just how powerful the resulting Kaijin would be if he used them as materials.

Evidently, some materials were more potent than others, as Zhen Liu could literally see some items glow brighter than others.

However, amongst these bright lights and dim glows, Zhen Liu could see one particular light that was... multi-colored.

Not a rainbow, but clearly a mix of blue, green, and red, all wrapped together in a faint outline of pure golden light.

As for what could cause such a glow, well, Zhen Liu had already seen it before.

'It's that horse skull totem, again...which means that Maggie is—yup.'

Amongst the falling, Zhen Liu could see the gazelle Bloodliner slave known as Maggie falling while attempting to get into a position that would allow her to land without injuring herself too greatly.

From the folds of her clothes, the totem made of three different horse skulls had spilled out and was now in free fall with everything else.

Because it wasn't being hidden away at this time, Zhen. Liu could clearly detect that the aura produced by this totem was weaker than the Voyager-1 probe behind him.

However…there was a certain quality to it that reminded Zhen Liu of a certain frog and mammoth.

Although, unlike those other times, there was more than presence this time around.

In other words, Zhen Liu was fairly certain that he was going to get three kaijin for the price of one totem…which was absolutely fucking bonkers.

'How the hell can a single item carry the will of three different people…wait…rules of three again? Am I just fucking attracted to that number because of karma? Am I a walking, talking fairy tale or some—BAH! WHAT THE FUCK?!'

Before Zhen Liu could further think about his connection to the number "three," a sharp pain suddenly ripped through his head like a chilled needle to the brain.

As this pain rocked his senses, Zhen Liu noticed that time began to speed back up.

'What the…wait…'

Quickly scanning his body, he realized that the [Chaos] in his body had stopped pooling in his brain and spine and had begun to redistribute back into his body… and was in the process of getting drained out of him.

'What the-?!'

With a flex of his will, Zhen Liu pulled back the leaking [Chaos] and got back into his body.

'What the hell is going on?'

...Why did his [Chaos] fizzle out? Well, we're going to have to turn back time…

When the floor to the main cavern collapsed, it wasn't just due to the fighting taking place between the rebels and Dante's Kaijin in the main cavern.

In reality all of the shaking and instability was due to the battle taking place between Dante's Demon Knights and the champion fighters of the rebel army.

[Die, you bastards! Die!] Obsidious roared before releasing a blast from a cannon shaped like a giant toad's mouth.

"Fucking hell!" Zhen Xing cursed as he used the bony tail structure of [Stigma] to redirect the attack, slamming into a nearby wall. "Why the hell are they all using weapons with so much collateral?!"

Thanks to Dante having witnessed how to form a [Taboo] and [Stigma], he was able to bestow a fucked-up version of this knowledge to his [Demon Knights].

To be more precise, he taught them how to tap into the [Cores] of the kaijin they had absorbed and turn them into armor and weapons.

Fortunately, the [Demon Knights] were only able to manifest these enhancements one at a time.

Unfortunately, even manifesting just a single enhancement was enough to force the rebel warriors to fight on the defensive…mostly.

Lyona with her greatsword-shaped [Taboo] made with Razorstella's aid was proving herself quite capable in putting the pressure on Delictum.

One good chop would turn this owl-like kaijin into a rotisserie chicken, and they both understood this fact.

[Stand still long enough so I can lob your stupid head off!]

[Fuck you, lion bitch!] Delictum screeched with fury before firing off a flurry of feathers that were cut down by Lyona's sword.

[Can someone trade opponents with me? This bitch is too tough for my feathers] Delictum complained.

[Busy!] Slavina replied while lashing out with a vine against Olstenna's burning body, failing to catch purchase in the process.

[I'm dealing with the same problem.]

^Whats the matter milkweed? Too hot for you to handle?^ Olstenna asked between bouts of hysterical battle-crazed laughter.

Not only could the Ignarii literally dance his way out of the plant woman's vines, but he could burn them into ashes as well.

Needless to say, the plant-like kaijin woman was less than pleased that her opponent was someone so…hot-blooded.

Granted, she was used to bringing to heel hot-blooded warriors, so this wasn't anything new, just...mildly more difficult.

As for Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai, they were the only members of the rebel champions that were being forced on the defensive. Then again, it probably didn't help that their opponents included the strongest fighter amongst Dante's [Demon Knights], and the fattest fucker they ever had the displeasure of punching.

[BURN YOU HATEFUL BASTARDS, BURN!]

[HOLY SHIT!]

Reflecting his [Taboo], Obsidious kept manifesting explosive weapon after explosive weapon with the aim of blowing Zhen Xing into smithereens.

Thankfully, Zhen Xing knew plenty of illusionary and movement-based aether arts that made it so that these explosive payloads never touched him. Unfortunately, they did end up damaging the surrounding cavern environment instead.

[Try to redirect more towards where that fake lord is hovering!] Screamira advised Zhen Xing.

'I can't control where this bastards decides to fire his rockets!' Zhen Xing retorted.

While this was unfolding, Zhen Tai was busy dodging Gumba's attacks.

While Gumba was significantly slower than Obsidious and his rockets, his attacks were three times as heavy.

Zhen Tai couldn't even relax in the slightest as one wrong move on his part meant that he would be pulverized into oblivion.

'GAAAAH! All of this jumping around and dodging is driving me insane! I just want to get in one punch, just one solid punch!'

[Good luck with that,] Springerdermain chided. [That guy is so fat, I'm pretty sure our fists would just sink into his body before we could even have a chance to actually do any damage.]

'NYAH!'

And in the background of all of this fighting, Dante was busy actually putting effort into creating a proper kaijin.

'Interesting...having to actually make a Kaijin from scratch is a very different experience than just relying on pure mutations,' Dante noted as he poured more and more of his [Chaos] into the corpse pile below him and witnessed all the wonderful changes happening before his eyes.

The natural death aether of the pit mixed wonderfully with his innate [Chaos] and the cursed energies of the mines, creating an aura of ominous hatred that delighted Dante.

Needless to say, the rebel alliance's win condition involved them putting a stop to Dante's shenanigans as soon as possible, but that was easier said than done.

None of the rebel fighters were able to land a decisive blow against Dante's [Demon Knights] for one reason or another, and they couldn't even attempt to team up to gang up on a particular opponent.

They had attempted to do so once, but that immediately led to the other three [Demon Knights] attempting to jump one of their warriors in turn.

The only saving grace of this moment was that none of the [Demon Knights] seemed relatively able to work together without possibly injuring each other in the process.

Regardless, everyone in the room knew the score; they just needed someone to achieve it.

And right now, the rebels were about to make a hail mary play.

To be more specific, Razorstella, Springerdermain, and Screamira were about to make a hail mary play on behalf of their mortal counterparts.

[Screamira. Springerdermain. Are you two ready to move?] Razorstella asked her compatriots as Lyona proceeded to use her current sword-like form to try and slice through one of Delictum's wings.

[Ready whenever you are]

[Yes.]

The possessed mortals had no idea what the kaijin had planned, but they all had an ominous feeling growing in their stomachs.

Especially when they were given this message.

[On the count of three, you need to rush towards Dante as fast as you can.]

'What?'

[THREE!]

Before Zhen Xing, Zhen Tai, or Lyona could even ask any more questions about what their kaijin partners were doing, all three of them found themselves being ejected at high speeds towards Dante, while Razorstella, Springerdermain, and Screamira finally engaged their enemy counterparts with their real forms.

[NICE TO FINALLY MEET YA!]
