Kaguya-sama Wants Me to Surrender

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Open the Door and Crack Down on Pornography and Illegal Publications

"There's something wrong with this ward."

Amamiya Natsuki and Shinomiya Kaguya exchanged a knowing look.

Everyone else shared double rooms as couples, but this one was a single suite—occupied by only one person. Who was this lone intruder?

Clearly, something big was amiss.

"Let's keep looking." Shinomiya Kaguya stretched out a slender jade finger and tapped out a message: "Finding the actual medical record card would be best."

Amamiya Natsuki nodded. "Understood."

...

Without specific info on the patient in the last ward, Amamiya and Kaguya resorted to the most tedious method: searching and eliminating known patients ward by ward.

Moments later,

"Found it."

Amamiya's eyes brightened as he pulled a paper medical record card from the files.

"That's it." He signaled Kaguya with a glance. "Retreat."

The nurse—still slacking as if ready to quit—barely noticed them leave.

"You're finally back." Fujiwara Chika sighed in relief. "We might as well just arrest the nurse."

No doubt the nurse was Zhang San. Even if she wasn't, she had to be Zhang San.

The issue was that while other evil spirits were trapped inside wards, the nurse roamed freely. If one of the spirits chased her down from the corridor into a ward, who knew what would happen?

"Fujiwara-san, please get stronger soon." Amamiya said eagerly. "If you rename everyone Zhang San, we'll be unbeatable."

"Impossible. Give up." Fujiwara snapped. "No matter how much you think about it, that can't work."

"If a person has no dreams, how are they different from salted fish?"

"That's pure fantasy."

"The corridor will go dark again soon." Kaguya interrupted, folding her arms. "Let's return to the ward first."

...

Feeling guilty for having exploited the cow-classmate earlier, Amamiya led a few girls back to his ward.

Miss Sadako had crawled out again and stood quietly in the corner, head bowed, looking terrified.

Several girls, including Kaguya, froze.

Only Amamiya Natsuki remained calm and even raised a hand in greeting:

"Ms. Sadako, we're back."

...

The 'source of all evil' made Miss Sadako's black hair tremble slightly. Without a word, she turned and tried to slip back into the TV.

As expected, her large breasts got stuck again, causing some anxiety.

"Natsuki-san, aren't you afraid?" Fujiwara Chika asked curiously.

"Of course I'm scared."

"You're lying. You were smiling just now."

That's because no one had seen Miss Sadako's true face. Next time I'll give her a middle-parted hairstyle so you can see how she really looks—and then you won't be scared anymore.

Weak wife face.

A teardrop mole near the eye.

Apart from her pale skin, she perfectly fits the standards of a wife.

If they're cute, who cares if they're a vengeful spirit? Ask Momonga.

Unfortunately, Miss Sadako was still shy and crawled back into the TV, hiding again in the well.

Several people sat on the hospital bed.

Amamiya took out the medical record card and handed it around.

"Sakurai..." Fujiwara's eyes widened. "Besides the name, what else?"

A very common name.

Its plainness made it feel out of place for a vengeful spirit.

...

"It's devil's whisper." Rikka's ahoge trembled as she pressed her eyepatch. "When Dad was in hospital, the doctor wrote the same thing. I don't recognize a word."

The doctor's notes were all in 'Martian language'—unintelligible except to colleagues.

"Kaguya-chan, can you read it?"

Fujiwara looked at their intellectual leader, the super-genius girl.

...

Shinomiya Kaguya remained silent.

Sorry.

Even with eight spoken languages and ten written, this was beyond her.

"It's normal for non-professionals not to understand." Amamiya said. "After the corridor lights up, find other players who might decipher the medical record."

"That..." Asuka Kujo raised her hand, whispering, "I understand a little."

Everyone turned to her.

"Ahem, I'm not making it up." Asuka hurried to explain, "My dad runs a clinic. I've seen him write medical records—they look like this. So I can understand some of it."

"Why do doctors write so sloppily?" Fujiwara wondered.

"I asked Dad once." Asuka whispered, "He said medical records are for doctors and nurses. Most patients can't even understand their own medicine instructions."

"I'm counting on you." Kaguya handed over the medical record card.

Asuka took it quickly. "I can only grasp some, and some parts are unrecognizable."

"Don't worry. This is already a good start." Amamiya smiled. "Just tell us what you get."

"I'll try."

Asuka inhaled deeply and began translating the alien script on the card.

An unknown girl named Sakurai suffers from a severe congenital disease affecting her movement. She can only stay in the hospital for 24 hours under conservative treatment, but her condition worsens slowly...

"I don't know the disease name." Asuka whispered. "There's medicine records on the back but I can't read them either."

"That's enough." Kaguya frowned and decided, "We'll finish the rest ourselves."

Fujiwara suddenly asked,

"By the way, is the darkness lasting longer?"

"True." Amamiya nodded, "I just don't know why."

...

The light returned.

Amamiya and the girls left the room and headed for the ward with the single occupant.

"No, it won't open." Amamiya pushed the door, then shook his head. "It's locked."

"Where's the key..." Fujiwara held her chin, then eyes lit up. "Could it be the fragment we got from Miss Cow?"

"It's a common game trope. Fragments combine into a key eventually."

"Worth a try." Amamiya agreed. "Better to act than do nothing."

"It's you, Natsuki-san." Fujiwara pointed. "Let's start from Ward 401."

Amamiya recalled the spirit in Ward 401.

Miss Succubus.

Pushing the door open, Amamiya saw a player girl crouching in a corner, tears in her eyes.

Opposite her stood a tanned gyaru succubus with wings and a tail.

"It's actually a man?!"

Seeing Amamiya, the succubus's eyes suddenly glowed:

"Come quickly and replenish my magic!"
