Chapter 203: Don't Be So Fierce
In the Central Continent, where Lords keep a low profile, the King Tao realm represents the zenith of combat power, an invincible existence. Any individual at this level could sweep across vast territories.
This was also why Shangguan Du could act unchallenged in South of Huainan. His father was a King Tao expert, with a Moon God even further above, overseeing South of Huainan. Who would dare make a move against him?
A few days ago, hearing that the Heavenly Road would appear here, he became interested and brought a group of his clan's experts to this location.
Given his status, he naturally sought the finest accommodations and cuisine, which led him to Phoenix Tower.
However, it was unexpectedly fully booked!
Coincidentally, the eldest son of his rival Sima Clan was also present.
Shangguan Du laughed. Leading a group of his clan's experts and ignoring the innkeeper's attempts to stop them, he charged straight to the third floor.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the Sima Clan's eldest son? Hidden for so many years, and you've finally decided to show your face?" Shangguan Du kicked open the door, his gaze sweeping across the room before landing on Sima Kong.
There were many people present, but Shangguan Du had even more experts with him and had no fear of this group.
Sima Kong frowned. "Please leave," he said faintly. "You are not welcome here."
"Leave? HAHAHA!" Shangguan Du roared with laughter. "Are you joking?" After a pause, he added, "This young master reserved this room in advance. Shouldn't you be the one to leave?"
Just then, the innkeeper hurried over, attempting to persuade Shangguan Du to depart.
However, Shangguan Du drew his sword with a backhand motion, laid it against the innkeeper's neck, and asked coldly, "Good, you're here. Tell them this young master reserved this room. Now, have them scram!"
"This... My lord, you can't do this!" the innkeeper stammered, trembling with fear.
"What? Does this young master's word mean nothing?" Shangguan Du's tone was chilling.
The innkeeper was terrified. On one side stood Shangguan Du, whose father was a King Tao expert. On the other was Sima Kong, who had an alarming background, and several young masters from the Quicksand Dynasty were also present. He couldn't afford to provoke either party. The innkeeper was caught in a dilemma, stammering, unsure what to say.
Meng, Liuli, and the others were furious. Shangguan Du was infamous for his tyranny, arrogance, and bullying the weak; today, they witnessed it firsthand.
Everyone knew whether the room had been reserved in advance. But Shangguan Du clearly intended to use force, drive them out, and seize the room for himself.
"Are you looking to die?" Shangguan Du stared coldly at the innkeeper, pressing his sword down.
A chill coursed through the innkeeper. He shivered and looked at Sima Kong, pleading, "Young Master!"
Though just two words, their meaning was clear: he was begging Sima Kong to give up the room.
Offending Sima Kong and his companions might, at worst, cost him some business. But offending Shangguan Du could very well mean his death and even endanger his family. He truly couldn't afford to provoke such a person!
However, Sima Kong, usually known for his discretion, was unwilling to compromise this time. His expression remained indifferent as he faced Shangguan Du.
HEH! Shangguan Du smirked, a ferocious grin spreading across his face. His sword flashed down, beheading the innkeeper. Crimson blood gushed out.
The innkeeper's eyes bulged wide in disbelief; he couldn't rest in peace! He had been trying to mediate, to persuade Sima Kong, and for that, he was killed just like that?
"Shangguan Du!" Liuli seethed. To take a life so easily, merely for a room! What had the innkeeper done wrong? He was just an innkeeper! Shangguan Du's actions were truly worse than those of a beast!
SWISH! The clan experts behind Shangguan Du quickly closed in. The atmosphere in the room instantly plummeted.
Liuli's expression turned icy as she stared fixedly at Shangguan Du. If a fight broke out, she would kill this man at the first opportunity.
Meng was also glaring at him.
Sima Kong's face darkened, his expression grim. He blamed himself; his misjudgment had led to the innkeeper's death.
Only two people on the scene remained calm. One was Liu Changqing. Although the Huainan Region wasn't Martial God Academy territory, the Academy's influence extended throughout the entire Central Continent. With his background, he naturally wouldn't fear someone like Shangguan Du.
The second was Chen Pingping. Having annihilated the Bai Family, toppled Chong Tower, and shown no fear even of the Sacred Lands, why would he fear a mere Shangguan Du? Besides, he himself was a King Tao expert.
HEH HEH. Shangguan Du scanned the room, enjoying the sight of everyone on edge. However, his gaze soon fell upon Liu Changqing and Chen Pingping, and he frowned.
Their faces were unfamiliar. Moreover, they were far too calm, seemingly unafraid of him. Interesting!
"You two, come here," Shangguan Du ordered, a chilling smirk playing on his lips. "My shoes are dirty."
There are people in the Huainan Region who don't fear me? Impossible! He decided that before seizing this room, he would teach these two a harsh lesson, making them fully understand who truly ruled the Huainan Region.
Liu Changqing, who initially hadn't wanted to cause trouble, couldn't help but chuckle at Shangguan Du's words. He subconsciously glanced at the composed Chen Pingping.
Provoke me, and at most, I'll take an arm as a lesson. But provoke Chen Pingping? Ha! That fellow shows no mercy; he'd wipe out an entire faction at the drop of a hat. He won't spare you based on who your father is, or who might be above your father.
Sima Kong moved to intervene for them but was stopped by Liu Changqing, who shook his head, signaling him not to act rashly.
"Are you courting death?!" Liuli shouted angrily, charging forward.
One of Shangguan Du's King Tao experts looked on coldly, his sword slashing down. Fortunately, Chen Pingping pulled Liuli aside just in time; otherwise, the blade would have struck her.
OH? Shangguan Du seemed to find this amusing. His interest piqued, he stared at Chen Pingping. "You've got some skill. Not bad, not bad at all. This young master appreciates you. If you follow this young master and become my dog, I'll let you leave alive today. Otherwise..."
WOOF WOOF WOOF! Hei, who had been quiet all this time, couldn't help but bark loudly.
Due to its tiny size and lack of presence, it was only when Hei barked that everyone noticed it.
What an adorable dog, the women thought.
The Earth Chicken, lounging nearby, lazily lifted an eyelid. This brat truly doesn't know what's good for him, it thought.
"A dog?" Shangguan Du sneered. "You dare bark at this young master?"
WOOF WOOF! Hei grew even more relentless, leaping away from Chen Pingping and barking furiously at Shangguan Du, its tiny tail wagging nonstop.
The women looked dismayed. One of them said, "Little doggy, don't be so fierce! Come down quickly!"
What on earth is with this dog! It's so tiny, yet trying to act so fierce. In any other situation, it might be amusing, but they're facing Shangguan Du today!
Liuli stood up, intending to grab Hei, but the little dog was too agile and dodged her, barking again, "WOOF..."
"You're courting death!" A cold glint flashed in Shangguan Du's eyes as he drew his sword and slashed out!
