Chapter 156 Sister, I Was Wrong
Guang Xiaoyu began to let her imagination run wild. After all, she really was a simpleton, otherwise, she wouldn't have blurted out such a thing as, "My Senior Brother is Chen Pingping." Nor would she have charged into the Bai Family's estate alone, slaughtering everyone in her path. Those who didn't know better might have thought her Senior Brother was an Imperial Dao expert!
"Stay calm!" Guang Xiaoyu comforted Zi Ji once more. "This is a Sacred Land. They probably wouldn't dare cause trouble here. Let's keep a low profile for now."
She thought it was the Yuan World on Zi Ji that had attracted the attention of so many prodigies. Under normal circumstances, she would have taken Zi Ji and left without a second glance. But not this time. That Big Bell had fallen from the Heavenly Road; it might hold clues about the road itself.
Hmph! I'd like to see just what kind of god guards the end of the Heavenly Road.
She suspected it might be people from the Nine Heavens.
However, when the two women stepped into the Sacred Land, trying to keep a low profile, they found it impossible. Everyone was looking at them. Fear was evident in most people's eyes. Not only that, but a crowd was parting for them with a rustle. Those prodigies whom they had tricked before didn't dare utter a single word.
This made Guang Xiaoyu even more bewildered.
Something's not right! Normally, aren't these people always baying for our blood? What's with them now...? Could it be... my identity has been exposed?
Guang Xiaoyu mused. That was the only explanation that made sense.
My identity as the Demon Emperor has been revealed, shocking everyone. That must be it! Yes, the more I think about it, the more certain I am!
She rested her chin in her hand, a hint of a smile gracing her lips as she strode in with Zi Ji.
The scene was unusually quiet.
Eventually, the two women arrived before the Big Bell. Guang Xiaoyu immediately saw the issue: it wasn't a Divine Weapon at all, merely an illusion created by a special Magic Artifact endowed with certain abilities.
Shaking her head in disappointment, she said, "Let's go find a place to sit and gather some information."
Isn't a grand gathering usually all about chatting, bragging, and discussing all sorts of issues?
But these people were very quiet, their eyes fixed on them the whole time, as if flowers were blooming on their faces.
Guang Xiaoyu grew annoyed and grabbed a bystander. "Why are you looking at me?"
The person replied in terror, "I'm sorry! I was wrong! I won't look again!"
"Answer me. Why are you looking?" Guang Xiaoyu demanded sternly.
The man remained silent. Of course, I'm scared! Isn't it obvious? But he dared not say the words.
Guang Xiaoyu asked again, "Let me ask you something. Do you know where Chong Tower is?"
The man grew even more frightened. Does she mean that after wiping out the Bai Family, her next target is Chong Tower? My God!
The prodigies panicked. Is this girl going to turn the world upside down?
But then again, the Bai Family and Chong Tower were not on the same level. Moreover, when the Bai Family was annihilated, many of their powerhouses were not even present! Chong Tower was different. This faction had always been mysterious, not to mention its assassins were progressively more terrifying, each capable of killing foes beyond their own cultivation level. They were not to be trifled with!
The man, voice choked with tears, pleaded, "Miss, I was wrong! I'll never look at you again!"
Guang Xiaoyu was speechless. I just wanted to ask a simple question. Was such a reaction necessary?
At that moment, the Saintess approached with a light laugh. "Chong Tower has always been a mystery, and its headquarters even more so. Ordinary assassins aren't qualified to enter. However, there is one person who currently knows."
"Who?"
"Murong Hua!"
"Who is he?"
"The earthly representative of Chong Tower, and also an elder. An assassin, his cultivation is at the Divine King Realm, yet he once attempted to assassinate an Imperial Dao expert," said the Saintess.
What the heck? Guang Xiaoyu was momentarily stunned. Attempted to assassinate an Imperial Dao expert? That's enough to prove Murong Hua possesses strength equivalent to the Imperial Dao realm, even if his cultivation realm isn't there yet!
Seeing her reaction, the Saintess inwardly sighed in relief. It's good she just destroyed the Bai Family to vent her anger. She absolutely must not target Chong Tower. This was a power that even the Sacred Lands regarded with extreme caution.
However, Guang Xiaoyu looked up. "Can you contact him?"
Everyone stared blankly. Did she mean she was asking Murong Hua to voluntarily reveal Chong Tower's location? And then lead a grand charge to destroy it?
The Saintess's expression darkened. It felt like she was talking to an idiot. Does Guang Xiaoyu truly not know that all the assassins sent after them were dispatched by Murong Hua? He takes the contracts; he sends the men. If she goes to him with Zi Ji, isn't that just walking into a death trap? What on earth is she thinking?
"Ha ha ha!" A wild laugh echoed as Diwu Qingrou from Xihè of Ox State emerged from the crowd, offering just two words: "Admirable courage."
The earlier scene had indeed shocked him. A mere slip of a girl, capable of unleashing such combat power, had single-handedly obliterated a faction. But now, it seemed her intelligence didn't quite match her strength.
"What are you laughing at?" Guang Xiaoyu stared at him intently.
"Laughing at your ignorance."
HISS!
At his words, everyone gasped. Did they not understand Guang Xiaoyu's personality, strength, and temper from what had just transpired? Was he sure he wanted to provoke her, even if he himself was powerful?
Before she could respond, Diwu Qingrou spoke again, "How could you possibly learn the location of Chong Tower's headquarters from someone within Chong Tower? Isn't that a contradiction?"
Guang Xiaoyu paused.
He continued, "Let us speculate from another angle. For instance, such a mysterious organization as Chong Tower would certainly not establish its headquarters in an ordinary place. That raises the question: what places are extraordinary?"
"What places?" Guang Xiaoyu asked.
"Obviously, a Life Prohibited Zone!" Diwu Qingrou narrowed his eyes.
Good heavens! Only then did the prodigies realize this Diwu Qingrou was no simple character! His line of reasoning was: Where are Chong Tower's headquarters? I don't know! But I have a good idea where they *might* be! For example, a Life Prohibited Zone. Therefore, you should go search the Life Prohibited Zones. Wasn't this a clear case of using someone else to do his dirty work?
The Saintess frowned. Though displeased, she offered no further explanation, because Diwu Qingrou was right. The Sacred Land had scoured nearly every corner of Central Continent without finding Chong Tower, leaving only the Life Prohibited Zones unsearched. Her displeasure stemmed from Diwu Qingrou guiding Guang Xiaoyu into a Life Prohibited Zone, which was tantamount to luring her to her death.
But Guang Xiaoyu didn't care about such things. Instead, she asked with keen interest, "Then, may I ask, which prohibited zone do you think Chong Tower might be in?"
"There are five Life Prohibited Zones in Central Continent: Luo God Mountain, Youming Sea, Taigu Valley, the Abyssal Cliff, and Yunmeng Mountain," Diwu Qingrou began. "First, let's talk about Luo God Mountain. Rumor has it that deep within Luo God Mountain lies a prison. After the end of the dark turmoil, the Human Emperor imprisoned a powerful enemy deep within Luo God Mountain. Broadly speaking, Luo God Mountain might be a vast Array, and Chong Tower would not place themselves in such danger. So, it can be directly ruled out."
"Next is Youming Sea. It is boundless and without end. Who knows how many terrible Demon Beasts live in its depths? There are even rumors that a creature with an Ancient Bloodline slumbers there, having survived two dark turmoils. If it were to awaken, the heavens would collapse and the earth would splinter. Youming Sea can also be ruled out—it's too dangerous."
"Taigu Valley is the most mysterious and thus the most likely location. However, this place is constantly enveloped in a powerful aura; even a Divine King wouldn't dare to tread there lightly. It's considered the most probable because, despite being too dangerous to enter normally, its very mystery suggests it could be accessed via teleportation arrays."
"The Abyssal Cliff won't work. The area is too small, lacking sufficient space."
"As for the last one, Yunmeng Mountain..." Upon mentioning this, Diwu Qingrou's expression turned serious. "If it were me, I would establish the headquarters within Yunmeng Mountain!"
Guang Xiaoyu was curious. "Why?"
