jujutsu Kaisen: The Heavenly Restriction

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: New Zanpakutō

Jujutsu World, Cursed Tool Forging Association

"I heard that the fake Six Eyes from the Gojo family has failed at forging again?"

Cursed Tool Master Hirai Buta and Gojo Yousuke exchanged a glance and both let out a sigh of relief.

Ever since the mysterious Zanpakutō Cursed Tool from the Gojo family had been rumored to exist, it had caused a massive stir in the Cursed Tool forging world.

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the outcome, wondering if the six-year-old boy with the so-called "fake Six Eyes," Gojo Kensei, could forge a second Zanpakutō.

For the Cursed Tool Forging Association, they desperately hoped that Kensei would fail to create such a revolutionary Cursed Tool that could reshape the future of the Cursed Tool world.

Originally, Gojo Kensei's master, Gojo Takuya, wasn't even accepted by the mainstream Cursed Tool forging community. Now, with the Gojo family producing an entirely new heretic, the entire Cursed Tool forging world was even more reluctant to accept such results.

"Whether he fails or succeeds, we can't allow the Gojo family to keep disrupting the rules of the Cursed Tool world."

An elderly voice suddenly came from behind Hirai Buta and Gojo Yousuke.

"Master Kamo!"

The speaker was none other than Kamo Shin, the last remaining Great Master of Cursed Tool forging, and the creator of numerous special-grade Cursed Tools. He hailed from the Kamo family, one of the three major families in the Jujutsu world, and currently served as the president of the entire Cursed Tool Forging Association.

Kamo Shin, with his full head of white hair, appeared remarkably youthful for his age. His body was still that of a middle-aged man, a result of years of working in the forge, maintaining a physical strength that far surpassed his age. Were it not for his aged voice, anyone would have assumed he was in his late forties or early fifties.

As a member of the Kamo family, Kamo Shin was fully aware of his clan's awkward position in the current Jujutsu world. Despite his high status as a Great Master of Cursed Tool forging, it did nothing to change the Kamo family's lack of representation in the ranks of Jujutsu sorcerers.

Especially concerning was the Kamo family's unique technique, Red Blood Manipulation. At present, there were hardly any sorcerers within the Kamo clan capable of using this technique.

If things continued this way, it seemed the three major families would become irrelevant, with the Gojo and Zenin families standing as the ultimate rulers.

For the future of the Kamo family, Kamo Shin knew that his position in the Cursed Tool forging world had to be unshakable.

What worried him the most, however, was the Gojo family's growing influence.

Kamo Shin had heard rumors that the "fake Six Eyes" boy, Gojo Kensei, was forging a new kind of Cursed Tool—something that could shake the very foundations of the Cursed Tool world.

If Kensei succeeded and the Gojo family supported him, then the Kamo family's reputation in the Cursed Tool world could be completely overshadowed.

This was something Kamo Shin could not allow to happen. He was the last remaining Great Master, the undisputed authority of the Cursed Tool world, with immense influence and connections. He would not let Gojo Kensei spread his influence unchecked.

Inside the Forge

Gojo Shun looked at Gojo Satoru, Gojo Kensei, and Zenin Toji, his face filled with unease.

"Master Satoru, Kensei-sama, Toji-san! What are you planning to do?"

Five minutes later, Shun's face turned ashen as he watched his "Tōmyō" being taken away from him.

Kensei-sama had run out of materials, and now he was eyeing Shun's own Cursed Tool.

Although Shun was stunned by the existence of Sode no Shirayuki, he didn't want to risk using his "Tōmyō."

"Don't worry, don't worry! Shun-uncle, I've figured out the pattern. This time, it's definitely going to work."

Hearing Kensei's reassuring words, Shun's face turned even more bitter.

He had been hearing the same reassurance for nearly a month now, but he just couldn't bring himself to relax.

After all, the entire forge was now filled with the wreckage of numerous Cursed Tools.

Among them were even Grade 1 Cursed Tools that he had never used…

So, as Kensei entered the forging state, integrating "Tōmyō" into the raw material, Shun could only watch.

The rhythmic "clang clang" sounds echoed in the forge, each strike of Kensei's hammer seeming to reverberate in Shun's heart.

It's coming! The feeling is here!

A serious expression appeared on Kensei's face. He could feel himself entering the same state he had been in when forging Sode no Shirayuki.

In that instant, the Sword God's presence seemed to take over.

"It's done!"

Ding! "Congratulations, host, you have successfully forged the Zanpakutō Seichū."

Upon hearing the system's prompt in his mind, the tension that had been building for a month finally eased within Kensei.

He closed his eyes, gripping the shallow-form Zanpakutō in his hands, and let out a deep breath.

—It seems the system isn't broken. A Zanpakutō isn't something that can only be forged once!

—This all points to the fact that when forging a Zanpakutō, I must have been missing some key characteristic.

—Other materials don't seem to have much of an impact. The most critical factor must have been the Cursed Tool used as the base!

—I used to think that higher-grade Cursed Tools would make it easier to forge a Zanpakutō. Now I realize I was mistaken.

—The Grade 2 Cursed Tool "Tōmyō" has finally been forged into the Zanpakutō "Seichū" that both Gōka and Tōsen wanted. Clearly, there's some special connection between them.

Kensei closed his eyes, lost in thought. He was contemplating the connections between his first Zanpakutō, Sode no Shirayuki, and the entity known as Yoru-no-Nai, as well as the relationship between Seichū and Tōmyō.

The creation of Sode no Shirayuki had been tied to the frost characteristics within Yoru-no-Nai.

The creation of Seichū, on the other hand, was likely linked to the functional qualities of Tōmyō.

Kensei felt like he was beginning to grasp something, but more exploration was still needed...

As he stood silently, Shun began to panic. He feared that his old companion, like all the previous failed Cursed Tools, would end up discarded.

Gojo Satoru and Zenin Toji exchanged glances, both showing signs of disappointment. If this continued, they weren't sure they could keep supporting Kensei's forging experiments.

"Another failure?"

"Yeah, looks like it."

"Seems that way…"

Familiar dialogue between Zenin Toji and Gojo Satoru filled the air, but this time, Kensei smiled.

"Who says it's a failure? You've got no eyes for this."

Kensei's voice rang out across the forge.

Instantly, the forge fell silent. Gojo Satoru and Zenin Toji exchanged looks, their eyes filled with surprise.

Shun, grinning widely, rushed over to Kensei's side, staring at the shallow-form Zanpakutō in his hands.

—It really worked! Just like when Sode no Shirayuki was first forged!

Having personally handled the shallow-form Sode no Shirayuki, Shun could still remember the shape.

The Zanpakutō before him had truly been forged.
