Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 44 Lu Yu Arrives

Yan Dan had acquired this technique during his travels, which allowed him to summon the phantom of a Sword Immortal by burning his soul. This Sword Immortal, with a suave and dashing appearance, possessed unmatched combat prowess. It was Yan Dan's trump card, employed only in dire circumstances.

Now, with Mount Shu facing a life-or-death crisis, Yan Dan burned his soul without any reservations, and the phantom of the Sword Immortal behind him began to solidify.

A White-robed Sword Immortal, it seemed, appeared amongst them, sword in left hand and a Wine Gourd in the right. With each step, he took a drink, recited a verse, and unleashed a sword strike.

"Do you not see the waters of the Yellow River coming from the sky, rushing into the sea and never returning?" With this strike, it was as if the Yellow River had descended; the sword light, like the surging river waters, swept the Four Great Demon Kings into its current.

"Do you not see the high hall's mirror lament the white hair, morning like black silk and evening turned to snow?" Another strike seemed to contain the passage of time, making the Four Great Demon Kings feel as though the years were a sword, sharply cleaving into their hearts.

"Stop him quickly!" The Four Great Demon Kings, no longer composed, shouted out in panic.

The might of the White-robed Sword Immortal was too terrifying. That powerful sword light, as if endless, carried all manner of strange forces, leaving them in disarray and vulnerable to injury at the slightest misstep.

"The waterfall plunges down three thousand feet, as if the Milky Way has fallen from the Nine Heavens." The White-robed Sword Immortal took another sip of wine, recited another verse, and the sword light poured down like the Celestial River from the Nine Heavens, striking at the Four Great Demon Kings.

The White Skeleton Demon King, manifesting a White Skeleton Giant, was like a lone boat amidst these currents, drifting unsteadily, while the rest of the Demon Kings were now disheveled and stripped of their former elegance.

"Where did this Sword Immortal come from, and how can he be so strong?" the Green Snake King roared in fear, bereft of her earlier seductiveness.

"Quick, think of something, or we'll all die." Black Crow King's voice, hoarse with urgency, filled with panic as he saw the White-robed Sword Immortal take another drink, ready to recite more poetry.

"In ten steps, kill one person..." A terrifying killing intent spread from the Sword Immortal; however, there was no follow-up, as Yan Dan's soul was, after all, finite and nearly burned out, no longer able to support the White-robed Sword Immortal's strikes.

"Hahaha, still alive," the Black Crow King laughed triumphantly, feeling as though he had just been on the brink of death at the gates of hell. The White-robed Sword Immortal's final strike, brimming with murderous intent, while still sheathing his sword had sent shivers through his soul. A voice within seemed to tell him that he would surely die to that strike.

The other three Demon Kings also exhibited looks of having narrowly escaped death, breathing heavily. The pressure from that final strike was immense like the end of days, inescapable doom. Experience tales with empire

"Is it over?" Yan Dan muttered to himself, finally unable to protect his home and loved ones, but there was nothing more he could do.

A few elders exchanged glances, knowing that it was now their turn. Mount Shu had Sword Immortals who died in battle, but never a Disciple that surrendered.

"It seems heaven has decreed your demise; you can't blame us for it," said the White Skeleton Demon King, his face full of murderous intent. The White-robed Sword Immortal had forced him into too dire a state, and he desperately needed to vent the frustration that was building within him.

Just at this moment, a Scholar in a green robe appeared in front of Yan Dan, speaking sternly, "This is simply nonsense. Don't you know the consequences of doing this?"

"No choice, when you can't beat them, you have to fight for your life. I don't want my junior brothers to die before my eyes," Yan Dan said with a wry smile. At the same time, he relaxed, and his body instantly flopped to the ground, collapsing.

The person who came was none other than Lu Yu. Seeing his close friend arrive, Yan Dan felt relieved, and the breath he had been holding let go, causing him to fall down.

Lu Yu unveiled the Three Lights Divine Water and fed it into Yan Dan's mouth, immediately alleviating his exhaustion and rejuvenating him with vitality. However, Lu Yu knew that Yan Dan's soul had suffered severe damage, and even if his life was saved, he probably wouldn't be able to wield a sword in the future.

"Oh! And who is this handsome young man from? He is pretty good-looking," the Green Snake King said as she licked her lips, full of coquettish intent upon seeing Lu Yu's delicate features and the scholarly aura unique to a reader.

"Stop the noise!" With a soft utterance from Lu Yu, the Green Snake King's face turned pale. She prided herself on her beauty and excelled in the Bewitching Technique. Ordinary men couldn't even stand steady before her, let alone scold her.

"Such a spirited young man suits my taste exactly. You others don't compete with me; this young man is mine," the Green Snake King said, her snake-pupil eyes flashing a dangerous light. She already had a plan on how to deal with Lu Yu, this naive lad.

Her response was a slap so sudden it could not be blocked. With a smack, the Green Snake King flew like a bull that had gone berserk, sent dozens of meters away. A bright red handprint appeared on her snow-white cheek, comically marking her face.

"Hahaha, Green Snake King, seems you've hit a snag. That slap—tsk tsk—truly does not show mercy to a beauty," the Black Crow King taunted the Green Snake King with his characteristic hoarse voice, as she was sent flying.

"Ah! Human Scholar, you have angered me. I will put you into the snake pit, let you experience the feeling of being torn apart by thousands of snakes," the Green Snake King said furiously, her expression growing fierce with green scales flickering in and out of her face. Her entire visage seemed to transform into a snake face, horrifying to behold.

The bewitched Mount Shu Disciple would probably vomit if he saw this face.

"Don't be careless; there's something off about this man." However, the White Skeleton Demon King seemed to sense Lu Yu's strength and solemnly warned the other three Demon Kings.

Lu Yu swung his sword, and the sword light poured down like the Celestial River, instantly enveloping the Four Great Demon Kings. He was actually preparing to face all four alone.

"Presumptuous!" the White Tiger King bellowed in anger, bursting with fighting spirit as he rushed towards Lu Yu, intending to overwhelm him with his powerful physique.

With a "bang," the White Tiger King's fist struck squarely on Lu Yu's chest. The blow was mighty and heavy, so much so that even the White Tiger King's fist hurt, yet Lu Yu seemed merely tickled, showing no change in expression. He slapped the White Tiger King squarely on the head, sending him flying several meters away.

Just then, the Black Crow King's attack arrived. A crow's caw could be heard, as if a sinister aura was attacking Lu Yu, seeming to tug his soul out.

Lu Yu merely chuckled. These tricks were nothing compared to the Great Minister of Fate, like comparing a baby to a superhero. He took the hit without flinching or dodging, his Mana surged, and the eerie aura dissipated like ice melting in fire. Instead, it backfired on the Black Crow King, forcing him to spit out a mouthful of fresh blood.

"This one's tough. Let's go at him together." By this moment, all four had realized that Lu Yu was not someone any one of them could handle alone.
