Chapter 45 The Four Mischeivous Monkeys
[At the age of 341, the Six-Eared Macaque fell into the demon's path, and with all his mana, he transformed it into Demonic Qi, clandestinely eroding and piercing through the chains of his pipa bone. By the end of that year, he broke free, destroyed a city, and caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of lives.]
[You, filled with immeasurable rage, stood upon the clouds with one hand covering the sky, plunging the entire Three Realms into darkness and gloom—as if the heavens themselves were collapsing.]
[Although the physical body of the Six-Eared Macaque perished, his Primordial Spirit was whisked away by a streak of black qi.]
[You discerned that a being of the Chaos level had intervened.]
[After this battle, all beings of the Three Realms recognized your vast Divine Skills and boundless mana. The Jade Emperor summoned you to heaven and, acknowledging your merits in subduing demons, conferred upon you the title of Carefree Sage King and Sovereign of Equal Heavens, giving you a rank among the six imperial courts and the privilege to create your own celestial palace and residence.]
[At the end of the same year, gods again came to offer congratulations; even the Western Lord Buddha, The Buddha, brought along the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of Spirit Mountain to celebrate the new Emperor's ascension.]
[You engaged in discussions on Daoism and Buddhism with the multitude of immortals and saints, all of whom sensed your exceptional nature. The Buddha even invited you to become a King Buddha in the Western realm.]
[You did not refuse, as both parties had their own paths, which would be convenient for future endeavors. However, you told The Buddha that you wished to compete with him someday.]
[The Buddha did not mind and, while smiling, ordained you as Venerated King Buddha, Holy Sage of Heaven and Earth.]
[At the age of 342, after the divine beings had dispersed, The Buddha warned you that the black qi, which had whisked away the Six-Eared Macaque, was the workings of Mara and advised caution and vigilance.]
[You inquired about Mara, and The Buddha informed you that Mara was the devil of Buddha, integral to both the holy and the demonic.]
[Contemplative, you began to pay attention to news about Mara.]
[At the age of 343, you learned of Mara's movements from Master Puti, realizing that this was a grand demon intent on overturning the Three Realms. Consequently, you began preparations to strike it with thunderous might at the moment of its emergence.]
[During that same year, Huaguo Mountain continued to flourish. The Dragon Demon King had truly submitted, and the seductive fox had truly cultivated a male form, with two distinct personalities between the male and female forms.]
[Curious, you observed with your divine eye and discovered that within the seductive fox's body were two entangled souls, one Yin and one Yang. Previously, the Yin soul had been dominant.]
[With your great mana, you recreated the cosmos to split the seductive fox into two beings, Huxi and Meier, who, grateful to you, vowed to serve as your protectors.]
[This year, The Dragon Demon King suffered a heartbreak…..] This сhаptеr is pаrt оf thе соllесtiоn оn МV2LЕМР2YR.
[At the age of 344, in the Northern Jambu Continent, aided by the black qi, the Six-Eared Macaque was reborn, devoured a myriad of demons, cultivated an invincible body, and forged an Immortal Soul.]
[Corrupted by Demonic Qi, he wreaked havoc across the Three Realms, taking control of the Lion Camel King, Peng Demon King, Yurong King, and Strong Demon King, leading the horde of demons toward True Warrior's domain.]
[True Warrior, defeated, sought help from Heaven.]
[The Jade Emperor, furious, immediately dispatched Heavenly King Li and Nezha, summoning the twenty-eight constellations, Nine Luminaries Star Officials, twelve Celestial Stems, the five emissaries, the four attendants, the East and West Star Lords, the North and South deities, the five sacred mountains, the four rivers, and the Universal Star Formation—a hundred thousand heavenly soldiers—to lay down an eighteen-layered heavenly net in the Northern Jambu Continent and besiege the horde of demons.]
[Yet, the Six-Eared Macaque, with his towering demonic flames, wielded his compliant iron rod with ease; with a sweep, it extended thousands of feet, and with a swing, he repelled the hundred thousand heavenly soldiers.]
[It was at this moment that The Bodhisattva Guanyin passed by and guided the Jade Emperor to a clear path forward.]
[Afterward, the Strong Demon King sought you out.]
[Mounted on your white ox, accompanied by the two maidens Yuyan and Iron Fan, you made your way to the Northern Jambu Continent.]
[The gods, upon seeing you, rushed to greet you. Although True Warrior had long defended the Northern Jambu Continent and had never visited you, he had heard of your fame and awaited you with great expectation.]
[Mounted on your white ox, you went below to challenge the enemy.]
[The Six-Eared Macaque, upon seeing you, instantly went into a frenzy, commanding tens of thousands of demon soldiers and the four great Demon Kings to launch an assault on you.]
[Unperturbed, you plucked a single hair and, using the Metamorphosis Skill, created countless duplicates of yourself to thwart the demon soldiers and capture the four great Demon Kings, handing them over to the celestial soldiers for custody.]
[Upon witnessing this feat, the divine hosts beat their drums and cheered, hailing the Great Saint!]
[The Six-Eared Macaque, frenzied and furious, his demonic flames bursting into the sky, grew to an immense height. His staff, like a pillar supporting the heavens and wielding the power of thousands of mountains and seas, bore down upon your head with a crash.]
[Yuyan and Iron Fan were terrified and pale, but you assured them, "Do not panic, this is but a minor trick." No sooner had the words left your mouth, than you leapt up, caught the falling pillar, and flew upwards with it, your body radiating the aureole of the Dao and the Buddha, growing immensely until with a single hand you shielded the heavens and grasped the towering Six-Eared Macaque in your hand.]
[Seeing that the Six-Eared Macaque had gone mad, you used the power of the Five Elements to gather an immense mountain and suppress him beneath it!]
[After the affair, you returned to Heaven with the celestial soldiers, to report to the Jade Emperor.]
[The Jade Emperor rewarded you with ten thousand golden flowers and a thousand bottles of imperial wine. Coincidentally, it was time for the Queen Mother's Flat Peach Banquet, and the Jade Emperor granted you a hundred Flat Peaches that ripen every nine thousand years.
He then commenced a grand peace celebration in Heaven, held in conjunction with the Flat Peach Banquet, where you were the center of attention among thousands of goddesses.]
[At the age of 345, you attended the Flat Peach Banquet and the grand heavenly celebration in the celestial court.]
[At 346 years old, you attended the Flat Peach Banquet and the Grand Assembly for Assigning Titles in Heaven.]
[...]
[At 355 years old, the Flat Peach Banquet and the Grand Assembly for Assigning Titles ended, and you led Yuyan and Iron Fan, riding on your white ox mount, back to Huaguo Mountain. You handed the imperial wine and flat peaches to Ao Yun and told him to store them for future rewards to meritorious officers of Huaguo Mountain.]
[Ao Yun was deeply moved, her eyes brimming with spring's essence, but you remained impassive.]
[You granted Ao Yun the title of Sacred Mother of Celestial Dragons and Spirits of Huaguo Mountain, enrolling her into your official ranks, whereupon Heaven also granted her gold petals as a stipend; thereafter, you assigned titles to the hundreds of officials of Huaguo Mountain, enrolling them into the ranks of immortals, stating that with diligent service, they could enjoy the fruits of eternal life.]
[The demons of Huaguo Mountain were endlessly grateful to you!]
[At 356 years old, an unexpected guest arrived at Huaguo Mountain, the second disciple of The Buddha, the Golden Cicada.]
[Commissioned by The Buddha, he copied scriptures and headed east, spreading the teachings. In the Niuhezhou region, despite the multitude of demons, all were subdued by his powerful fists. But in Nanshan Continent, he found himself bewildered.]
[This was because the people of Nanshan Continent, eager for fame and fortune, disregarded the Buddhist teachings with contempt. However, they held the scholarship from Ao Lai and Huaguo Mountain in high esteem, especially the "Crafts of a Hundred Families," which most pursued eagerly for its wealth-generating methods.]
[The Golden Cicada was displeased because he felt that you, as the Carefree Sage King and Sovereign of Equal Heavens from Heaven and the Venerated King Buddha, Holy Sage of Heaven and Earth from Spirit Mountain, were so obsessed with money. He wanted to debate the principles of Dao with you and talk about Buddhism.]
[You gladly agreed and discussed the scriptures and principles with him. In the end, the Golden Cicada, still perplexed, rode a cloud back to Spirit Mountain to seek The Buddha's advice, who instructed him to undergo reincarnation as further cultivation.]
[You knew that the journey for scriptures was about to begin again.]
[More than 500 years later, when you were 872 years old, Huaguo Mountain had become a celestial kingdom in the mortal world, highly esteemed by the other three continents.
The High Monk Sanzang set out from Nanshan Continent, ready to measure the earth step by step, from Nanshan Continent to Niuhezhou, then on to Northern Jambu Continent, and finally to arrive at the Ao Lai region of Eastern Victorious Divine Continent, seeking from you the true scriptures that could help Great Tang advance.]
The simulation had yet to end, but Sun Wukong had already concluded this particular simulation.
Through this simulation, he understood that in the future, the Six-Eared Macaque would be chosen by the demonic Mara of Buddhism and conflict with Heaven, but in the end, it was because he intervened that the Six-Eared Macaque was subdued, and Mara dared not show his face, remaining hidden in the shadows.
Nevertheless, Sun Wukong gained something from it.
It was that the Holy Nation of Huaguo Mountain continued to exist, and indeed, that reincarnated being of the Golden Cicada, Tang Sanzang, would actually come to his Huaguo Mountain to seek scriptures, taking a long detour to do something as paradoxical as journeying in the opposite direction of his destination.
Opening his eyes, Sun Wukong smiled at Ao Yun, who had been standing in front of him for some time, and said, "Is there something urgent?"
In the simulation, this dragon maiden had developed feelings for him.
What a pity that he was not interested in that.
Ao Yun's face turned red, but the flush was fleeting as she said, "Great King, I came to report the recent affairs of Huaguo Mountain to you, and also, the Jiao Demon King will not cause trouble for the time being.]
As for the Jiao Demon King, Sun Wukong knew more than Ao Yun. If his conjecture was correct, that fellow would become the cauldron of the fox seductress in the days to come.
What's more, that fox seductress was indeed peculiar, being a twin-soul entity of yin and yang, no wonder it had both male and female attributes.
In the simulation, he seemed to have used his great mana to split them into two separate entities, a man and a woman, indeed creating them.
Shaking his head, Sun Wukong momentarily set the matter aside and said, "I understand. However, dispatch a few more to keep an eye on that Six-Eared Macaque."
Ao Yun, puzzled, said, "That creature indeed possesses vast divine skills, but with his pipa bones penetrated and his mana sealed, a few monkey soldiers can guard him. There's no need for so many hands."
"That monkey is no simple matter," Sun Wukong said with a smile.
"What's so special about him?" Ao Yun, her eyes alight with curiosity, pressed, "Is it just that he has six ears? There are those in the world with extra noses, breasts, and ears, rare though they may be. Perhaps that monkey is just a freak."
Sun Wukong laughed heartily and asked, "Do you know of the kinds of Zhou (the cosmic order)?"
Ao Yun replied, "I often read in the Library of Myriad Scriptures and am aware that within Zhou there are five immortals, which are heaven, earth, deities, humans, and ghosts; and there are five insects, which are crustaceans, fish, hairy animals, feathered creatures, and bugs."
"The Six-Eared Macaque should, like Great King you, be classified under the hairy and feathered categories. However, it seems the underworld classifies monkeys into a separate category because they resemble but are not human, possess hair but don't fall under the jurisdiction of the Qilin, and have feathers but don't follow the Phoenix Sect."
"So the Six-Eared Macaque doesn't fall under the monkey category?"
Sun Wukong smiled and said, "He is neither heaven nor earth nor deity nor human nor ghost, nor crustacean nor fish nor hairy nor feathered nor bug, not belonging to any of the ten kinds of Zhou, but is one of the four chaos-bringing monkeys."
Ao Yun asked, "The four chaos-bringing monkeys?"
Sun Wukong nodded and explained, "Among the chaos-bringing monkeys, there are the Lingming Stone Monkey, skilled in metamorphosis, able to discern the timing of heaven and leverage the advantages of earth, proficient in moving stars and altering constellations.
There is the Red-Buttocked Horse Monkey, who understands yin and yang, human affairs, and is adept in entering and exiting places, evading death and extending life. There is the Arm-Extending Monkey, capable of grasping the sun and moon, shrinking thousands of mountains, distinguishing auspiciousness and misfortune, toying with heaven and earth.
And there is the Six-Eared Macaque, who listens well, discerns logic, perceives the past and future, illuminating all things."
