Chapter 246: Second Familiar
In the morning, the first thing Shichen saw when he opened his eyes was Est's small, adorable face—peaceful and beautiful like porcelain.
Her skin was flawless, creamy white like milk. He couldn't resist giving her a soft kiss.
Est didn't wake up.
Still holding her, Shichen sat up, feeling the smooth warmth of her skin in his palm.
In front of him were Yami and Yui Kotegawa, both lying on their backs under the blanket, just their heads poking out, sleeping peacefully.
He turned to the side and saw Lala facing him in her sleep, her cherry blossom-pink lips smacking slightly—probably still dreaming about last night's sukiyaki.
They'd laid out futons on the floor to sleep, two pairs opposite each other. As usual, Est had slept with him.
Though, he wasn't quite sure when her clothes had come off. Her thigh-high socks, however, were still on... Shichen ran his hand down her smooth back to check. Yep, still there.
"Onii-chan...?" Est slowly opened her eyes, still half asleep.
"Hm? Did I wake you?"
"Mmm... Onii-chan, why were you touching my thigh-highs?" she asked groggily.
"You're worried about that?" Shichen's mouth twitched.
"Mhm… Onii-chan's not allowed to take them off unless..." Est trailed off, her cheeks turning rosy.
"Unless what?"
"Unless you fulfill the promise from before..."
"I'm not taking them off." Shichen let go of her socks—and grabbed her tiny butt instead.
It fit perfectly in his hand.
Est didn't seem to mind that at all.
Shichen chuckled and asked, "Hey, when did you take your pajamas off?"
"I forgot... I couldn't sleep well," she mumbled, tilting her head.
"Alright then, go back to sleep. I'm gonna get up and start breakfast."
"I wanna go with you," Est said, hugging his neck tightly.
"Okay."
With a warm smile, Shichen scooped her up like a baby and carried her out of the room.
The room went quiet again—until Yui Kotegawa opened her eyes, her face quickly flushing red.
She'd heard everything between Shichen and Est. She couldn't believe they were acting so shamelessly first thing in the morning.
Est looked like a kid!
Even though she knew Est was technically older, her petite body was just too misleading.
"Ugh... Shichen-nii really is a total perv," Yui muttered, trying to push the thoughts away. She rolled over to go back to sleep—only to lock eyes with Yami.
The two stared at each other in silence. Yami's calm expression made Yui feel awkward.
"Y-Yami... hehe... When did you wake up?"
"Thigh-highs," Yami replied flatly.
"You were awake the whole time?!"
"Yeah." Yami nodded.
"Haha... So Shichen-nii really is a perv... He's even going after Est—and she's so tiny."
"Tiny..." Yami murmured with a neutral face.
"Ah—!"
Yui suddenly realized, "Wait... you're tiny too, Yami!"
"N-Not that I'm saying anything will happen! Uh, does Shichen always act like this in the morning?"
"More or less. Didn't a book say men are always more... energetic in the mornings?"
"That's true... Then wouldn't he be doing stuff with Lala too?"
"Stuff?"
"Never mind. I said nothing."
"Got it... Let's sleep a bit more." Yami gently closed her eyes again.
"Okay…"
Later that morning, while everyone was quietly eating breakfast, the news on TV suddenly interrupted the mood.
"And now for the typhoon report. A massive super typhoon is rapidly moving north and is expected to reach Japan by tomorrow night..."
"Huh? A typhoon?" Yui looked up at the screen.
"Typhoon? Is that bad?" Lala asked, confused.
"Wait... it is bad! That means the summer camp might get canceled!" Yui realized.
The camp was supposed to start next Wednesday.
"Eh? Canceled?! Why?" Lala turned to Shichen in panic.
"Well, it's a safety thing. A typhoon near the coast is dangerous. People's safety comes first," he explained.
"Nooo! I've been looking forward to it forever!"
"There's nothing we can do about the weather..." Yui tried to comfort her.
"But—but—Shichen! Can't you do something?"
"Of course I can. You really think I'd let you be disappointed?" Shichen smiled and ruffled her hair.
"Really?!" Lala lit up.
"Let's finish breakfast first. Then I'll show you something cool."
"You've got more tricks up your sleeve?" Yami asked while chewing on her golden, crispy egg roll, eyeing him skeptically.
"I've got loads. You shouldn't even try resisting me."
"I wasn't planning to…" Yami mumbled with her mouth full.
"What was that?"
"Nothing... I do want to see what else you've got."
"Don't be too shocked."
After breakfast, Shichen brought everyone to the beach.
Whoooosh—!
Crash—!
The sea was already churning, waves violently crashing against the rocks. The sound alone was intimidating.
Standing on the coastal rocks, they could already feel the terrifying pressure of the incoming typhoon—and it hadn't even arrived yet.
Yui clung to Shichen, trembling, unable to look at the ocean. The wind whipped her long hair into his face.
Yami, meanwhile, was unbothered, and Est was literally napping with her arms wrapped around his head.
Shichen raised a barrier to block the sea wind, and only then did Yui calm down a bit—though she still didn't let go.
"Shichen... what are you going to do?" she asked nervously.
"Shichen?" Lala and Yami also looked at him.
"It's simple," he said, smiling as he raised his left hand. A silvery-blue magic aura began to cover his entire arm.
"Second Familiar: Lugia!"
An immense burst of energy surged from him. Yui was blown backward and had to be caught by Yami.
They couldn't even ask if she was okay—they were both too stunned by the sheer pressure coming off Shichen.
His face was serious as the magic gathered in the sky above. A massive sphere formed and then plummeted into the ocean.
BOOM—!
A huge blast of water shot up, shattering nearby rocks. Yet not a single drop touched Shichen or the others.
The girls weren't watching the waves though. Their eyes were glued to the massive crater in the sea.
Suddenly, a sacred, melodic chant echoed from above. The sound was soothing, like it calmed the soul.
Rumble—! The sea began to churn. Something huge moved beneath the waves—and then it burst out.
"There it is!" Yami's eyes widened.
A gigantic silver-white bird-beast rose from the ocean, wings spread wide, casting a shadow over all of them.
Its body was sleek and streamlined, silver with a light-blue underbelly. Around its eyes were mask-like markings. It had a long neck, sharp beak, fangs on its lower jaw, and deep blue wing-like fins extending from its back and tail.
Shichen's second familiar—awakened by absorbing Serie's blood—Lugia.
"Whoa! That's yours, Shichen?!" Lala shouted in awe, not afraid at all.
Even Yui was speechless, gazing up at the majestic bird with wide eyes. It radiated a divine energy.
Yami said nothing, lips pressed tight.
The pressure from this creature was unlike anything she'd ever felt. She might not even be able to beat it.
She thought back to that seven-colored divine bird... Yeah, she really couldn't get away from Shichen now.
"Impressive, right? That's Lugia. It can suppress typhoons."
"Really?! That's amazing! Lugia, help us out and get rid of the typhoon!" Lala pleaded like she was asking a favor from an old friend.
Lugia looked at Shichen. He nodded with a smile.
Lugia turned and soared out toward the ocean—its huge, sacred form somehow calming to watch.
Within visible distance, it stopped mid-air, facing the incoming storm head-on.
Its wings flared wide. Magic surged. A white light formed in its mouth and then blasted outward like a beam.
The beam ripped through the sky—unstoppable, infinite—until it vanished in the distance.
And then... the skies cleared.
The storm was gone. The sun shone brightly.
"It's sunny again! The typhoon's gone!" Lala shouted, ecstatic.
"That's... incredible..." Yui whispered, staring at Lugia in the distance.
"Mm." Yami nodded slightly.
"Honestly, this is nothing. Lala could probably do this too," Shichen said.
"Huh? Me? Really?" she pointed at herself.
"Lala, you've barely scratched the surface of your potential," Shichen chuckled.
"Eh, whatever~ The typhoon's gone anyway," she said casually.
"True."
"Shichen, can we ride Lugia now?" Lala asked, blinking at him excitedly.
"Haha... classic you."
"Pleaseee?" she clung to his arm, acting cute.
"What do you two think?" he asked Yui and Yami.
"I'm fine either way," Yami replied flatly.
"Um... I kind of want to try it too," Yui said shyly.
"That's not like you."
"Ugh..."
"Well then, since we're at the beach anyway... let's ride Lugia across the ocean!"
"Yay!!"
