Chapter 4: The battle with Chimera

In the previous chapter, we got to know about a new person who is going to join Zaid and Thorn for the Chimera battle.

The training ends, and the journey begins to fight the Chimera. They didn't know who the person was — with an angry face, an iron suit, and a big sword. While they were traveling to the place where the Chimera was, Zaid asked him what his name was. He replied, "My name is Abzerth Vayne." Zaid asked all about Abzerth. Abzerth was a royal knight some years ago, but he was fired from there because he got defeated by a monster that was a threat to their country. Abzerth is from a country far away from here. The name of the country he lives in is Azmeria, and he lives in a city which is famous for its powerful strong swordsmen — the name of the city is Zaraveth.

While they were traveling, they also got to know about his past — how the monster attacked their city and many other cities in their country. He lost his wife in that battle. It was very heartbreaking for him. Abzerth got broken from inside when his wife died. Her name was Rose, a beautiful lady from his city, daughter of a powerful man of the city. They both loved each other very much, and after her death, he took a promise to become the most powerful swordsman ever to live in this world. He took a promise to protect every person who was close to him.

The backstory of Abzerth was very sad for both Zaid and Thorn. "Even in the silence, the pain screamed louder than words ever could." The past of Abzerth was full of emotional heartbreak and also his mom and dad died many years back before getting to Rose married in a disaster. After this, Abzerth had a goal to become the "most powerful swordsman ever to live in the world." After hearing the past of Abzerth, Zaid had only one thing in his heart after hearing it — "His story didn't just break my heart — it made me feel the weight of every unspoken pain he ever carried." In this situation, Zaid also thought that he knows the backstory of the person he met now and the respect for him grew after hearing his past but didn't know the past of Thorn. Zaid was traveling and being with him for a long time, but this is not the time to think such things. This is now the time to defeat Chimera. In the previous battle between Chimera and Zaid and Thorn, now they have a new teammate who is very experienced in battle as he was a knight of royal of his country. This title is given to a person who is one of the most powerful persons in their kingdom.

Now as they are ready to battle with Chimera, they have a proper plan to defeat Chimera. In the previous battle, they did not use their main ability to defeat Chimera. They made a plan according to the situation, but now they know that Zaid can use wind magic. With this, he has more speed and can attack Chimera from long range. Thorn has experience in battle and is a strong swordsman and a low-level healer. Thorn has many abilities, but the main one is that he is a powerful swordsman. Abzerth, a powerful knight and a swordsman like Thorn, is experienced in many battles and very strong. He cannot use any type of magic, but he has a powerful swordsman skill which is enough. Now they make a plan according to their powers, and at midnight when the Chimera is asleep, they go there in his cave. He was sleeping there, but after seeing him, both Zaid and Thorn started to shrivel in fear. They cannot stop their hands from shaking, but they both calmed themselves. Now they have taken training to defeat Chimera, and they have experience to battle with Chimera.

At first, Zaid attacked his tail, which is poisonous and dangerous for close-range fights. Chimera woke up in panic. Zaid attacked him with the sharp stone using his wind magic with high speed. His tail got into two pieces. The head of the snake got separated from his tail, and then Thorn and Abzerth started their work. Abzerth went close to Chimera and tried to cut off his big wings. He swung a sword in his wing. His wings got injured but did not break. Chimera got weaker. After this, Thorn attacked his back with the sword. Now he inserted his sword in the back of the stupid monster. The blood spread everywhere on the sword. The sword got red by the blood of Chimera. Chimera threw down Thorn and started recovering himself, but he can't because Thorn had attacked him with a magical sword using anti-magic. If we attack anyone with anti-magic, he can't recover from the attack for a long time. Now they have a chance to defeat Chimera. Zaid now attacked his head with his dagger. He threw his dagger on Chimera. Chimera screamed in pain, but after this, Chimera attacked Thorn with his full power. He first used flame magic and then attacked him with his claws and bit Thorn with his sharp teeth that cut the hand of Thorn into two pieces. Thorn screamed as if he was going to die. The pain was bad that he could not stand. In this situation, Chimera stopped for a while, and Abzerth got a chance to defeat Chimera. He attacked him with his sword which had anti-magic on the head of Chimera and cut it down from his body. The body of Chimera stood for a while, then it fell down on the floor. The scene was so intense that Zaid got shocked and got stuck for a minute.

Thorn lost his arm in this epic battle, but they defeated Chimera successfully. But now Thorn has lost his one arm, and his condition is critical. The blood is coming from his hand. Zaid used some healing magic to control the pain, but the pain of Thorn did not stop. They have to go fast to Sevvara to help Thorn. Abzerth was also in shock after Thorn lost his arm in the fight with the big Chimera with lion body and eagle wings and a tail with poison. Abzerth was feeling very bad for him that he can't make eye contact with Thorn. He thought he is responsible for Thorn losing his arm. Abzerth said sorry to Thorn. He asked him for forgiveness. Thorn said that he doesn't have to say sorry for this was not his problem, but Abzerth was feeling guilty from inside. After this, they fastly started to travel to Sevvara for Thorn's injury after losing his left arm. Zaid was also shocked that he can't properly talk with Thorn about the battle. He did not talk about anything to Thorn during the whole traveling. After landing in Sevvara, Zaid got Thorn to the hospital.

After seeing Thorn, the doctor got very shocked. He didn't know what happened to him. He said, "What happened to you? Why do you always get injured in battle?" After hearing this, Zaid's guilt and nervousness increased that he can't face Thorn. He did not talk to him that day. Zaid was thinking about how always Thorn helps him in his bad situations and he gets injured and now he lost his arm.

The doctor said that Thorn will not recover easily now. This will require more time and care. His wound is now very critical and can't be healed. Thorn will be admitted there for more than 6 weeks because Chimera has inserted his poisonous teeth in his hand and cut it down. Now in this situation, Zaid and Abzerth were feeling bad for him. The next morning, Zaid went to Thorn. He felt ashamed for what happened to Thorn. He started crying. "Thorn, why always you? Why do you give everything for me? This is all my fault. I keep you first in every bad situation." Thorn said, "Zaid, when will you grow, my little boy? This is not your fault. The monster is that powerful that we can't defeat him without sacrifices or something." Zaid said, "Then why always you sacrifice for me and everyone?" After this, Zaid felt very bad for Thorn, but Thorn explained to him that this is not his fault and he doesn't have to blame himself for every problem. Zaid felt better after this, and he went to practice his wind magic. He went on the field. He saw that Abzerth already started his swordsman training. Abzerth is already very strong, but he wants to become more strong. After watching him, Zaid got some confidence, and he also started his wind magic training. They practiced there for a while and then came back at the time of lunch. They both went to the city to see some restaurant to eat their lunch there. Zaid knows some places of Sevvara as he was living here for a while. They went to a restaurant which was on the seashore. They took their lunch there and went back to the hospital to meet Thorn. Thorn ate his lunch and was resting there for a while. They all talked there for some time. They all spent some good time together. Abzerth was very happy after getting such good friends. After this, Zaid and Abzerth had to go now. They went to the place where they two live.

That night, Abzerth thought if they have to get stronger, they have to take some quest and complete them. He talked with Zaid about it. They both accepted it, and they both went to townhall to take some quest. They asked the head of the Townhall to take some quest. He checked the background of both of them. The head was surprised after seeing the quest they both completed. He gave them a very important quest to do and said to them if they completed it, they would get a good amount of coins and some equipment for the battle. After this, the head gave them the paper in which there is written all the information about it. It was an A-rank quest in which they both have to take back an important item which some theft robbed from the city, and it was now kept in a very secure place, and they both have to take it back. The head did not mention what the item is, but they both accepted it.
