JJK: I am the real villain

Chapter 19: Greek Mythos

The premises of Jujutsu High were riddled with chaos and destruction, the surrounding forest scarred with scorched earth and broken trees.

Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer of the modern era, approached the shimmering veil of the curtain. His hand hovered inches from its cursed surface before he attempted contact.

The barrier violently repelled his touch, a backlash of cursed energy throwing his arm back. Smoke curled up from his fingertips.

"I see..." Gojo muttered, examining the scorched skin.

"Is it... that kind of curtain?" Utahime asked hesitantly, sweat trickling down her temple.

Gojo let out a soft chuckle. "Yep. It's keyed to exclude me specifically. Anyone else can probably pass through just fine."

"That's going to be a problem~," Mei Mei murmured, voice silky and amused.

"Yeah," Gojo sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration. "You're a capable sorcerer, Mei Mei. Our students are in danger in there. I trust them, but they're still in their growth phase."

Mei Mei rubbed her fingers together with a grin. "Compensation~."

"Huh?"

She gave him a pointed look. "How much?"

Gojo groaned. "We'll talk about that later."

"No deal. No action," she sang lightly.

"Fine, fine... 888,000 yen. That's fair, right?"

"1.5 million sounds much better."

"Ugh, fine. Whatever," Gojo conceded.

A swarm of crows burst into view, engulfing Mei Mei's figure in a flurry of black feathers before dispersing into nothingness, she was gone.

"Huh?! You're seriously going to pay her that much?!" Utahime cried, flabbergasted.

"Yeah. Problem?" Gojo replied casually, already distracted by his phone.

"What a reckless way to spend money," Utahime muttered under her breath.

"You want a million yen just say it~" Gojo teased Utahime.

"Screw you!!" She yelled at him with a tick mark on her head, Nobara following her through the curtain.

Meanwhile, deep within the forest, tension crackled like static.

Itadori Yuji and Todo Aoi darted between trees, a blur of fists and cursed energy as they tag-teamed Hanami in relentless rhythm. The cursed spirit was battered, bloodied, but wary.

What unnerved Hanami most wasn't their teamwork. It was Todo's cursed technique.

"BOOGIE WOOGIE!" Todo shouted, clapping his hands.

The air warped, and in an instant, Itadori switched places with Todo mid-sprint.

"BLACK FLASH!" Itadori roared, his fist cloaked in black lightning as it slammed directly into Hanami's gut, distorting the cursed spirit's form with a gut-wrenching crunch.

Hanami spat blood, staggering backward.

Damn it. This isn't going well. Mahito should've been done by now. And once this curtain's disabled—

Gojo will come. If that happens... I'm done.

Hanami leapt back into the shadows, his body already beginning to regenerate from the devastating blow.

I'll have to use it.

Flashback – The Day Before

The disaster curses gathered in a dim clearing, the forest silent except for the rustle of wind. Hanami sat in thought as the briefing ended.

"You seem worried," said Zankei Kubigari, reclining lazily on a hammock suspended between two trees. He picked his nose absentmindedly. "Something bothering you?"

Hanami looked at his palms. "Nothing in particular... Just wondering, why aren't you coming with us?"

Zankei tilted his head, cracking a grin. "Got something important to do. My vessel has his own errands with Kenjaku. Things only I can handle."

Hanami hesitated. "It's not that. What worries me is... Do curses like us ever get a happy ending?"

Zankei chuckled, eyes closing with amusement. "What?"

Then, with a soft breath, he replied, "Of course not. At least, not naturally."

Hanami nodded. "Seems unlikely…"

"You want a happy ending?" Zankei opened one eye. "Then earn it. If you end up with a bad ending, it's your fault."

"How so?"

"Because you're too weak to decide what your ending looks like."

Hanami frowned. "That's… blunt. But not wrong. Still, others make it harder."

"True. But stand at the top before blaming the bottom. No excuses."

Hanami sighed. "I see…"

Zankei reached into his pocket and handed Hanami a small talisman, twisted in the shape of a cross, infused with a dense, dangerous cursed energy signature.

"If it gets ugly, use this."

"What is it?"

"You'll find out. Chant these words to summon it:

'Pillage and cold, bring forth precision, and cut through what's old.'

One warning, once you activate it, get out. Do not stay in its range."

Hanami traced the talisman with his thumb. "Thank you… Zankei Kubigari. Oh sorry for ever sayin—"

"It's fine," Zankei interrupted, settling back. "Honestly, I respect you more than the others. Jogo could learn a thing or two from you, that said, you can call me by my name."

Back in the Present

The air turned thick. Oppressive. Trees wilted, their leaves shriveling into crimson decay.

Hanami held the talisman close, his voice low and grim.

"Pillage and cold, bring forth precision, and cut through what's old."

His cursed energy plummeted, nearly halving.

"What the hell…?" Itadori staggered, his cursed energy synergy disrupted. He turned sharply to Todo.

Todo's skin gleamed with sweat, not from exertion, but from the unnatural humidity building in the air. He wiped his brow.

Hanami was invoking something, and it was coming fast.

"We have to stop it!!" Todo shouted.

He picked up a rock and hurled it.

Itadori shifted stance, preparing his punch. Todo clapped.

SWITCH!

The stone and Itadori traded places.

Itadori dropped like a hammer, bringing his fist down in a deadly arc.

But Hanami didn't flinch.

Too composed. Too still.

"MANIFEST."

A hand, massive, red, and ancient, shot out from a black void, gripping Itadori by the leg and squeezing hard. Bones cracked.

Todo sprinted forward, eyes wide with horror, but couldn't catch him.

Itadori was flung through the air like a missile, the pressure alone scorching the ground beneath his flight path.

A red-skinned giant emerged, grabbing Todo with a single massive hand and slamming him into the ground.

The earth shattered.

Todo's eyes went white from the impact.

The creature stepped forward, towering, muscular, its body covered in cursed tattoos and armored with a Spartan-like helmet. A crimson skirt flared around its legs, and heat radiated from its body like a furnace.

A cursed Greek warrior. A red ancient mad Hulk.

It reached for Todo again.

But a blur, pink and red, streaked past. Yuji was back on his feet, grabbing Todo just in time.

"What the fuck are you?!" Yuji snarled, blood pouring from a gash on his forehead. His leg, where the creature had touched, was charred to the bone.

Todo stumbled to his feet. "It's not a cursed spirit…"

"So a Shikigami?" Yuji asked, his eyes locked on the creature's movements.

"Exactly. And judging by its cursed energy alone... it's like standing next to the sun."

He pointed behind them.

"The trees—!"

"They're catching fire?!" Yuji exclaimed.

"That's just from its presence," Todo said grimly. "Imagine what it can do."

Yuji's eyes widened. "Wait... I've felt this before. That cursed energy, it's just like... him!"

"No time for that," Todo snapped. "We need to get out of its sight, NOW."

Both backed away slowly. Every instinct screamed danger. Any wrong move could mean instant death.

No returns.

Yuji glanced at Todo, and saw it.

Fear. Real, naked fear.

Then—

BOOM.

The Shikigami appeared between them. Its hands clapped.

The explosion of cursed energy incinerated the earth beneath it, turning soil to ash.

Itadori and Todo froze, staring at the scorched spot where it stood just seconds ago.

Monstrous speed.

"Kan'i Ryōiki."
