Chapter 4: Chapter 2.1: The Little Sister Who Loves Peace
Morning arrived peacefully.
Sunlight filtered through the wooden windows of Ethan's farmhouse, casting warm golden hues across the simple interior. The faint chirping of birds mixed with the rustling of trees outside, and the smell of freshly baked bread drifted through the air.
It was a perfect start to the day.
And yet—
Ethan was already dreading it.
He sat at the kitchen table, rubbing his temples as Mia hummed happily, setting out breakfast. Fresh bread, eggs, vegetables from their farm—everything looked delicious.
But Ethan?
He had no appetite.
Because outside his farmhouse—**right outside, parked in the middle of his damn field—**was a royal carriage.
And a camp.
A full military camp.
Because Celestia, the Second Princess of the Kingdom, had refused to leave.
And now? She and her knights were living in his backyard.
Ethan stabbed his fork into his eggs aggressively.
This was not normal.
Not normal at all.
And as if his life couldn't get worse—
"Oh my~ Someone looks grumpy this morning."
Ethan flinched.
A new voice had just entered his mind. A very familiar voice.
He looked up just in time to see a certain silver-haired woman lounging in the windowsill, smirking down at him.
Tamamo.
Of course. Because his suffering wasn't enough already.
She looked exactly as she always did—a beautiful woman with long, flowing silver hair, mischievous amber eyes, and an air of lazy elegance. She was technically wearing a kimono, but considering how loosely tied it was, it barely looked proper.
Ethan scowled. "Tamamo. Why are you in my house?"
Tamamo tilted her head playfully. "Why, to check on my dear Ethan, of course~ You looked so troubled last night, I simply had to come see how you were doing~"
Ethan gave her a deadpan look. "Oh, I'm just fantastic. The royal princess has set up base in my backyard. My sister has unknowingly invited her to be my knight. And now I have the strongest woman in the kingdom watching my every move. Life is perfect."
Tamamo giggled. "Oh? But isn't it nice? You're finally getting the attention you deserve~"
"I DON'T WANT ATTENTION."
Mia stared intensely at them, gripping a fork in thought.
Ethan noticed.
And immediately felt uneasy.
"…What?" he asked.
Mia narrowed her eyes.
"…So, Tamamo is your fiancée?"
Ethan nearly choked on air.
"NO. SHE IS NOT."
Tamamo, of course, only smiled. "Ara~ But Mia-chan, isn't it obvious? Your dear brother and I are quite close, after all~"
Mia squinted harder.
And then, her face turned pale.
"…Wait." She looked between them. "You two… you do spend an awful lot of time together…"
Ethan groaned. "Mia—"
"And… and Tamamo always shows up at the weirdest times…"
"Mia, no."
"And she knows everything about you…"
"Mia, stop."
"AND YOU TWO EVEN ARGUE LIKE A MARRIED COUPLE?!"
Ethan felt his soul ascend.
Mia slowly gripped her head. "Oh no… OH NO. It all makes sense now."
Ethan, panicking, slammed his hands on the table. "MIA. LISTEN TO ME. TAMAMO. IS. NOT. MY FIANCÉE."
Mia did not look convinced.
Tamamo giggled. "Fufu~ How adorable. Mia-chan is growing up so fast~"
Ethan glared. "You're not helping!"
Then—
A knock.
Ethan froze.
Mia perked up. "I'll get it!"
Ethan lunged. "NO—"
Too late.
Mia opened the door.
And standing there, in full regal posture, dressed in her royal blue military uniform—
Was Celestia.
Ethan died inside.
Celestia smiled politely. "Good morning, Mia."
"Morning, Princess!" Mia chirped.
Celestia nodded. Then, her gaze shifted—directly to Ethan.
Ethan, who was sitting at the table, still holding his fork, looking like he wanted to disappear.
"…Ethan." Celestia greeted.
Ethan sighed. "Celestia."
For a moment, the two just stared at each other.
Then—
Celestia stepped inside without permission.
Ethan twitched. "You can't just—"
"I will be joining you for breakfast."
"LIKE HELL YOU WILL."
Mia gasped. "Big bro! You can't refuse a guest!"
"YES, I CAN—"
But Mia was already pulling out a chair for Celestia.
Ethan could only watch in horror as the royal princess of the kingdom casually sat down at his kitchen table.
Tamamo, from the window, looked far too amused.
Ethan had never hated his life more.
