It’s not that kind of malicious broadcast

Chapter 59

Chapter 59 – Confirming True Reformation

When involved in a community, there inevitably comes a point when someone causes a scandal or gets caught doing something embarrassing to the extent they no longer wish to be associated with their past self.

In such times, some people choose to leave the community entirely. It’s not a company or school, after all—just leave and settle into a new community.

Others, however, might apologize (or not even bother to) and continue their community activities boldly. The relationships and status they’ve built up are too valuable to discard, and usually, a few embarrassing moments get forgotten over time.

But then, there are those who opt for what’s colloquially known as “nickname laundering”.

Essentially, they change their ID or IP address, and re-enter the community as a new user.

They must forfeit all the ties they’ve established, and sometimes they’ll be caught by their speech patterns or IP address, leading to even greater shame. Despite this risk, the immediate advantage is that they can continue participating without receiving derision or criticism.

The third option was what Gwangjil chose after losing the underground match against GetDevoured.

It was a choice born of necessity. His forum life had been marked by rough language and extreme statements, which earned him followers but also many enemies who seized any opportunity to tear him down.

He ditched his old nickname, swallowed his shame, and pretended to be a newbie. Occasionally, when his name came up in the forum, he’d defend himself as an unaware third party.

It grated on him to see comments like “How pathetic, Gwangjil. Just do the dogeza of apology already”, but he endured by convincing himself to hang in there until GetDevoured’s bug or hack usage could be proved.

Biding his time, he repeatedly searched and combed through content, strategizing a comeback.

Starting from randomly discovering the ‘GetDevoured FanTube’, he meticulously watched the ‘Cup_of_Tea’s Shorts FanTube’ and even combed through broadcasts where GetDevoured appeared as a guest.

Naturally, he also tuned into GetDevoured’s live streams—

And his mind, a bit—no, quite significantly—cracked.

He wasn’t sure exactly when it happened.

Maybe it was when he realized that she was genuinely skilled at one-on-one fights. Or maybe it was at the end of her first day’s broadcast, when the camera angle dropped suddenly.

When she domineered over Revan during her broadcast, it was quite.

Seeing her crush Revan and exclaim, “Rogue is great, right?”—even though he claimed otherwise—gave him a sordid sense of vicarious satisfaction.

The forum users who constantly belittled him often included phrases like “A warrior should be Revan, not Gwangjil LOLOLOL”, making it even sweeter.

By the time he snapped back to reality, Gwangjil found himself amongst the fans clamoring on the ‘Rogue Revival Movement’ board asking when her next broadcast would be.

All sense of resentment had long faded.

In the first place, there was no more reason to hold a grudge. It wasn’t a bug. It wasn’t a hack.

And the one demanding that he do a dogeza apology wasn’t some bastard of a man but, instead, an alluring woman with a captivating voice and physique—turning the ordeal into something almost endearingly enticing.

Thus, he abandoned his slightly beloved laundering nickname, crispyOutsideSoftInside, and began anew with ReformedGwangjil, embracing his new outlook on life and boldly pledging his allegiance as a fan.

Hoping she’d remember her named opponent from the duel.

《ReformedGwangjil, thank you for the 100,000 Won. I’ll queue up as a Rogue for you as a reaction.》

『What’s the state of a 100k reaction now…?』

『Sir, the queue was going to be started regardless』

『Even for stinginess, this reaction is next-level』

『For the broadcaster, queuing up is the ultimate reaction…』

『Fact: Considering how little the broadcaster plays, yes, this is a reaction』

Like a swarm of bees, the chat attacked GetDevoured.

Even though Gwangjil knew that such a culture was almost encouraged by the broadcaster herself, it still didn’t sit well with him.

“These guys don’t even spend money”, he thought.

Just as he was about to put his well-honed keyboard skills from years of forum activity to use,

《By the way, are you… Gwangjil? The one who plays that character and Holy Knight in Challenger?》

The soft, familiar voice whispered in its usual languid tone.

As he listened to that gentle voice, Gwangjil was certain GetDevoured was glad to see him. Only someone who had watched all her streams could detect the slightly higher tone and faster speed in her voice.

Indeed, she remembered him…!

『???』

『Is he famous?』

『Isn’t he just a typical gall nerd?』

『Gall nerd (idiot)』

『Pathetic, Gwangjil~』

『Who is this?』

『Weren’t you the one spouting off about hacks and now you’re all clingy, Gwangjil』

He chuckled. Even the chat’s mockery and disparagement seemed almost beautiful now.

He checked his account balance on the donation site and quickly typed,

-ReformedGwangjil donated 100,000 won!-

【Yes, that’s me! I misunderstood back then… I always enjoy watching your streams, haha】

《Ah, so you’re Gwangjil? It’s okay. Mistakes happen. Another 100,000 Won… that’s too much.》

GetDevoured casually brushed off the hacking allegations that could have been detrimental to a broadcaster as if they were nothing.

Gwangjil thought, she’s just a bit mischievous, but she’s a good person, for sure—

Just as he was about to send another sweet message filled with reassurances through a donation,

《By the way, did you do the naked dogeza? Should I search the forum to see if it’s there?》

『???』

『What’s this about a dogeza?』

『???? What does that even mean?』

『What kind of relationship do these two have?』

『Naked dogeza???』

『????』

『Is this real…? Is this real…? Is this real…? Is this real…? Is this real…?』

『A female broadcaster shouldn’t be saying things like this…』

『What the heck are you saying, GetDevoured…』

『Gwangjil, let’s take that photo now~』

『If you don’t know about the naked bow incident, why watch this broadcast? (Seriously unaware)』

『Newbies who joined after the second Rogue Revival Movement, get out~』

GetDevoured, seemingly eager to prove she wasn’t joking, opened three different browser tabs and started searching the forum with keywords like ‘Gwangjil’, ‘dogeza’, and ‘verification’.

《Doesn’t look like you did it.》

And with a voice dripping with disappointment, she murmured,

-ㅇㅇ donated 1,000 won!-

【Even if he posted it, would it still be on the forum, GetDevoured…】

-ㅇㅇ donated 1,000 won!-

【Why are you so eager to see a naked dogeza anyway (genuinely curious)】

《It’s not that I want to see it… it was a promise made man-to-man. If you didn’t keep it, then you haven’t really reformed. Take ‘reformed’ out of your ID.》

She dragged her mouse cursor over the ‘reformed’ part of Gwangjil’s ID, as if to delete it herself, moving the mouse randomly around the screen. But as the cursor began inching towards ‘block user’, Gwangjil hastily updated his donation message and sent it.

-ReformedGwangjil donated 10,000 won!-

【If I post something like that, I’ll get arrested for public indecency, ma’am. Please forgive me just this once, I’ll do anything else you ask.】

《Anything… you say?》

A hushed chuckle escaped from Lee Yena, her voice filled with anticipation. She opened a notepad, eagerly beginning to list her demands as if she had been waiting for this moment.

《From now on, play at least three… no, five games a day with Rogue as your main character. Post your match results on the Rogue Revival board and the forum. Oh, and for easier searches later, title your posts ‘The Best Rogue Rogue.’》

『Crazy rogue maniac…』

『What is it with her and rogues?』

『She’s said to turn the cam back on four times』

『Is the rogue her boyfriend or something』

《I’ll understand if you’re busy some days, but if I find out you played as a warrior on a surprise check, you’re getting permanently banned.》

-ReformedGwangjil has 10,000 won!-

【Got it! I’ll post my screenshots daily.】

This is a good start.

It feels good.

Even before beginning the climb to Challenger, the fruits of the last Rogue Revival Movement are already returning beautifully.

Today, I’ve successfully reduced the world’s warrior count by one and increased the rogue count by one.

And not just any warrior, but someone who could be considered a warrior veteran, encouraging and producing more warriors.

Today’s Rogue Revival Movement is practically complete.

… Had it not been for my non-stop Challenger climb declaration, I would have logged off and gone for a drink right now.

Still, the chat is collectively chanting ‘The Best Rogue Rogue’. This atmosphere is nice.

-Ortography Master donated 1,000 won!-

【It’s not ‘최고에요,’ it’s ‘최고예요’~】

Hmm…

Since it’s meant only for those who’ve lost, it’s better to intentionally spell it incorrectly to make it easier to search for my results later… Should I explain this?

Everyone should already know. I’ve streamed and searched several times.

“Oh, the queue popped. ReformedGwangjil, I’ll be watching you.”

I selected the rogue and gave my shoulders a light stretch.

From now, it’s time to focus on the game.
