Chapter 15: Chapter 15: School Days and Boxing Licenses

A month had passed since Alex and Ippo received their boxing licenses, and life had returned to a new normal. The gym had been buzzing with excitement over their debuts, but outside the gym, things were a bit different for Ippo.

At school, Ippo's reputation had shifted. He wasn't just the shy fisherman anymore—he was now a licensed pro boxer. Yet, that didn't stop the bullies. In fact, they saw Ippo as an easy target, someone they could push around. But what they didn't know was that Ippo wasn't just some defenseless kid.

One afternoon, a group of bullies surrounded Ippo near his locker, shoving him and demanding his bag. "Hand it over, fish-boy. What are you gonna do about it?" one of them sneered, trying to grab the bag.

Ippo, however, was calm. He didn't respond verbally. Instead, he stepped back, dodging their reach with smooth, precise movements, his body reacting instinctively. The bullies tried again—throwing punches, attempting to grab his bag—but Ippo easily dodged each one.

"Hey! What the hell is going on?!" one of the bullies growled, frustrated.

Alex, who had been watching from a distance, leaned against the wall with an amused expression. He wasn't worried—he knew Ippo wouldn't get hurt. "They're really trying, huh?" Alex chuckled under his breath. "I wonder how long it'll take before they start asking for autographs."

But as the bullies grew more agitated, something unexpected happened. In the chaos, Ippo's boxing license slipped out of his bag and fell to the ground. It was the proof they had been looking for.

One of the bullies, a bit hesitant now, saw the license and picked it up. His eyes widened as he saw the words "Professional Boxer" printed on it. "Wait... you're actually a boxer?!" he said, shocked. The other bullies were momentarily stunned as well, staring at the piece of paper in disbelief.

"I didn't know a boxer could be... so..." The bully trailed off, glancing at his friends.

The others stood frozen, not sure how to react. They had tried to push around someone they now realized was no ordinary kid. Ippo, with his usual shy demeanor, didn't say anything. He simply took the license back, tucking it into his bag.

"Alright, listen," Ippo finally said, his voice surprisingly firm. "If you really want to learn something, just keep watching."

Alex, still chuckling, stepped in casually, his eyes gleaming. "Hey, no need to fight with them, Ippo. They'll be your number one fans soon enough."

The bullies stood in stunned silence, unsure of what to do next. They looked at each other awkwardly, then slowly backed off, realizing they had bitten off more than they could chew.

With the situation defused, Alex turned to Ippo. "Nice moves, man. You handled that like a pro."

Ippo didn't answer right away, still a bit embarrassed, but he gave Alex a small smile. "Thanks, Alex."

Back at the gym, after the school incident, Alex checked his system stats and saw more progress. His template for Gaolang Wongsawat was now at 17%, the highest it had ever been. Alex had worked hard in the ring, and the experience was paying off.

System Panel:

Name: Alex

Age: 16

Weight: 61kg

Height: 5'8

Template: Gaolang Wongsawat - 17%

Status: Licensed Pro Boxer

Alex couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. Gaolang's style was one of pure speed and precision, and Alex had always been fascinated by it. The idea that he could throw 13 jabs in one breath—now that was something to aim for. With his template now at 17%, Alex knew that unlocking it further to 20% would give him the power to throw 3 jabs in one breath. But what really had him excited was mastering Gaolang's Philly Shell defense.

If he could achieve that, he'd be unstoppable.

After a day of training, Alex, Ippo, Takamura, Aoki, and Kimura went outside for some fresh air. They joked around, laughing at the absurdity of their everyday lives as amateur boxers now.

"Hey, Ippo!" Takamura shouted as he took a puff from his cigarette, his usual cocky grin plastered on his face. "You should teach these guys how to dodge punches like you."

Ippo blushed, still embarrassed from earlier. "I didn't do anything that impressive…"

Alex grinned and slapped him on the back. "Don't sell yourself short, Ippo. You've got it in you." Then, with a mischievous glint in his eye, he added, "Maybe we should take on some real bullies next time."

Everyone laughed, the bond between them growing stronger as they enjoyed the rare moment of peace. But even in moments like this, Alex's mind never stopped working—always thinking ahead, always looking for the next challenge.
