Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 36: 36 Blood Pool

After arriving in Yokosuka, Altair's destination was the United States military base at Yokosuka Port.

Following the route on the map, Altair turned left and right, spending nearly an hour before finally driving to the base's entrance.

To be honest, the distance wasn't far; after all, the size of cities in Japan is limited. The closer you get to the Tokyo area, the more crowded the cities become, and the narrower the streets are. In this situation, driving a wide Humvee through those streets required a lot of navigation.

Fortunately, large vehicles often passed through the port, so the roads were relatively spacious. After nearly an hour, Altair finally arrived at the military base at the port.

"This should be the starting point."

Jumping out of the car, Altair looked at the military base's door, which had collapsed outward.

"The door fell from the inside out, suggesting something crashed into it from within. And with all this blood residue, it's evident that whatever came out wasn't a zombie, but was related to zombies."

It was indeed a 99.9% probability too accurate to ignore. Altair wasn't clear about the setting of the Highschool of the Dead world, but in this event, zombies should have come from here.

"Let's go inside."

He patted the roof of the car, and Saeko, who had been waiting on top, nodded and jumped down.

On the way, Altair drove while Saeko dealt with the zombies. She emptied two AK-47 magazines and used the rocket launcher twice. It must be said that there were really a lot of zombies in Yokosuka, and the noise from the fighting attracted zombies from afar.

The parkour zombies moved with terrifying speed... less than ten seconds to cover a meter, maintaining that speed as they scaled walls and crossed ditches, charging forward. It was truly frightening.

However, the resources used so far weren't too many; Altair still had plenty of firepower left and could easily fight another small war.

"Hand me the rocket launcher."

Reaching Saeko's side, Altair extended his right hand, and she immediately passed the rocket launcher she had on her back.

Catching the rocket launcher, Altair tossed it into his spatial pocket, then pulled out another lightsaber.

"You should know what this is. Let me teach you how to use it."

Throughout the journey, Altair hardly stopped, which left Saeko without a katana; she only had a wooden sword in hand. Now that they were about to enter the military base, where there might be different and possibly more terrifying zombies than the parkour ones outside, a wooden sword wouldn't protect her. So, he had to give her a lightsaber.

After teaching Saeko how to use the lightsaber, the two walked toward the military base's main gate. There were parkour zombies on the streets outside the base, and just before Altair entered the military base, they were all running toward him. However, when he entered the military base, he turned around and found that the zombies had stopped. Not only did they not approach, but they also began to retreat quickly.

What a sight! This scene made Altair's scalp tingle. According to the laws of nature, such behavior only occurs when weaker creatures realize they have entered the territory of something at the top of the food chain.

Zombies, which lack reason, could also feel such fear. Then the level of terror inside this military base must be several levels higher.

"Stay behind me. If I say run, don't hesitate; just run for the exit."

"Okay."

Saeko also noticed the retreating zombies; she felt something was off, just as Altair had said... they had to be cautious.

The two entered the military base, one in front and one behind.

Inside the military base, Altair felt horrified. He hadn't noticed outside, but once he entered, he found that the ground was covered with pieces of flesh and broken limbs, all soaked in blood.

"How many people have died here?"

Even Saeko, who had the potential to be a killer, was shocked by the scene.

"There are probably as many corpses in this base as there are stationed troops."

Altair didn't care how many bodies were there; he just wanted to know what kinds of monsters were inside that made zombies afraid to approach. Those things were definitely a threat to him.

The entire military port base square was like a huge, sticky pool of blood that could swallow up a person's ankles. Within the blood pool's range, there were many buildings, but one building looked suspicious to Altair. It was different from the others; all the windows and walls were covered in fresh blood, unlike the blood pools on the ground that had yet to dry.

"Let's go. It should be over there."

Altair gripped the lightsaber tightly and moved toward the building.

However, as he took a step, he felt something grab his leg. Looking down, he saw a hand clutching his ankle.

"Get back! Leave this blood pool!"

In an instant, Altair warned Saeko, who immediately ran toward the entrance. Altair's armored shoes were light armor, but Saeko's shoes were just the little leather shoes worn by girls at school!

Now her shoes were soaked in blood, and blood had even seeped into them. Compared to Altair, she was suffering much more; her feet felt sticky and disgusting.

Saeko dashed toward the base's entrance while Altair activated the lightsaber and sliced off the hand gripping his ankle. He then jumped high, heading toward the entrance.

At that moment, the previously calm blood pool suddenly exploded and countless hands emerged from the blood pool, stretching vertically toward the sky.

At this moment, Altair realized that the blood pool wasn't as shallow as he had imagined; it was very deep... filled with zombies below!
