Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 242: CA [242]: Magic

"Magic Ice Bolt!"

A slender ice arrow shot forth, striking the last berserk spirit in the arena. It erupted into a massive ice flower, encasing the spirit before shattering into glittering fragments scattered across the ground.

"Excellent. That takes care of all the berserk spirits."

Rinslet flicked her golden hair, striking a confident pose with one hand on her hip.

"Claire, you alright?"

"Tch, what could possibly happen to me? Mere berserk spirits can't touch me!" Claire snapped, stowing her whip with a scowl.

She'd come to compete for the military spirit, but this chaos had derailed the match. With the tournament disrupted, her chance at the prize was likely gone. Though she'd defeated two spirits, Rinslet's one-shot-per-spirit performance outshone her. Any rewards would surely bypass Claire.

"Don't worry, Claire. With the arena in this state, the military spirit is yours by default. The other elementalists fled, disqualifying themselves." Rinslet said, knowing Claire's goal.

"As for me, I've no use for it, so it's yours."

"I don't need your charity!" Rinslet's tone hit a nerve. With Altair and Fenrir, she didn't need the military spirit, but Claire hated handouts. She'd earn what she wanted.

"It's not over yet." Kamito interjected, sensing the brewing argument.

"What's not over?" Claire asked, puzzled.

Kamito looked skyward. Above the coliseum, a massive cylindrical object, the military spirit prize, hovered, sustained by divine power. But Kamito felt something off. Its energy was growing erratic, mirroring the berserk spirits below.

"Dodge! The military spirit's coming down!"

Claire and Rinslet glanced up. The once-white military spirit had turned black and was plummeting toward them. They leaped back, evading the crash.

"What's going on? Why'd its color change?" Claire demanded.

"Isn't it obvious, Claire? It's gone berserk!" Rinslet taunted, drawing her bow.

"But a military spirit at this level is no threat. Since it's gone mad, it'll just have to vanish."

She fired an ice arrow, striking the military spirit's head as it landed. The explosion of an ice flower obliterated its head. The ten-meter-tall spirit, despite its size, fell to a critical hit, dissolving into light.

"Hmph, military spirit or not, one arrow's enough." Rinslet said, flicking her hair with a smug grin.

"Alright then…" Kamito muttered, shaking his head at the fallen spirit.

Rinslet was too strong, explosively so. One arrow per spirit, even military ones. That black dragon spirit had boosted her beyond reason.

"Speaking of, where's that black dragon spirit? If Rinslet's here, he should be too." Kamito said, scanning the area for Altair.

"Looks like it's over." Altair's voice called out.

Nearby, he approached, holding Est's hand, waving with the other.

"Yo, kid, looking for something?"

"Uh, no, just checking the surroundings." Kamito said, scratching his head, dodging the fact he'd been searching for Altair.

"Really? I thought you were looking for this dark spirit miss. I ran into her outside the venue. She says she's here for you."

Altair stepped aside, revealing Restia behind him, pulling Est along.

Restia smiled warmly at Kamito, leaving him stunned.

"Restia?"

"Kamito, it's been a while." She replied softly.

"Restia, is it really you? I'm not dreaming, right?" Kamito asked, disbelief in his voice.

"It's me, truly me." Restia said, tilting her head and opening her arms.

"I'm back, Kamito."

"Restia!" Kamito rushed forward, enveloping her in a fierce embrace, as if to meld her into himself.

"Kamito…" Restia, feeling his intensity, returned the hug.

"I'm back."

"What a touching reunion! Truly heartwarming." Altair clapped, grinning. Est mimicked him, clapping expressionlessly. She didn't know why, but if Altair clapped, she'd follow.

"So moving." She said, voice flat.

"What's going on?! Kamito, explain!" Claire shouted, charging over to yank Kamito from Restia. Her contracted spirit hugging another woman, what was that about?

Pulled apart, Kamito and Restia loosened their grip but stayed close. Restia, noticing Claire, looked puzzled.

"Kamito, who's this? Do you know her?"

"Uh, she's…" Kamito faltered.

"You don't know her, right? With me, you wouldn't need other girls." Restia said with a smile, but Kamito broke into a cold sweat.

"What?! Of course he knows me! He's my contracted spirit!" Claire retorted.

"Oh? Contracted spirit?" Restia's smile remained, but her eyes narrowed as she looked up at Kamito.

"You didn't actually contract with her, did you? Surely not… right?"

What was this oppressive aura? Was Restia angry? Why?

Kamito, facing her serene yet terrifying smile, couldn't speak.

"Master Altair, what's with them?" Rinslet sidled up to Altair, tilting her head at the trio's odd tension.

"Oh, nothing much. Just Kamito's first love returning." Altair said, patting her head.

"What? First love? That dark spirit?!" Rinslet gaped at Kamito, caught between Restia's arm and Claire's grip, torn in two.

"Yep, his first love and contracted spirit, Restia." Altair confirmed.

"By the way, you all know her Elemental Waffe. As a supreme dark spirit, she transforms into a jet-black demon sword, the Sword of Piercing Truth."

"The Sword of Piercing Truth?" Rinslet paused, then her eyes widened.

"That's the Elemental Waffe of the strongest Blade Dancer, Ren Ashbell!"

"So, Kamito is actually Ren Ashbell from three years ago?!"

Unveiling a shocking truth, Rinslet let out a piercing scream.
