Is It Wrong For Me To Start With Three Skills In Danmachi ?!

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Takemikazuchi Familia

"He ran?! Sneaky and secretive—"

"A-Ais, please train me!"

"Okay!"

Ais, now the embodiment of justice, happily took out her frustration under the pretense of training Lefiya.

Ninth floor of the Babel Tower.

The weapon and equipment shops here generally sell works made by novice smiths, so they're all pretty cheap—and correspondingly, the turnover is high.

"These blades are quite well made."

The shop owner picked up an Eastern-style sword, drew it from its sheath, and squinted at it carefully, giving a nod of approval to Fron's work.

If you looked closely, engraved in ornate common script on the end of the hilt was the name [Fron Argon], and [Sakura Cutter I], indicating this was a first-generation work.

"This sword sells for 9,900 Valis."

Fron raised an eyebrow, a little surprised.

To be fair, weapons made by novice smiths usually sell for a few thousand to ten thousand Valis.

This was one of his practice pieces, so getting nearly 10,000 Valis was beyond his expectations.

"This set of armor, called [Gladiator I], uses fairly solid materials—15,000 Valis."

"The light armor [Mongoose Armor I], 8,000 Valis."

"No problem. That's three swords, three sets of armor, and three light armors in total. I'll leave it to you."

"Piece of cake. If you've got more works in the future, be sure to bring them here!"

"Of course. Then I'll take my leave."

"Hahaha, goodbye!"

After exiting the shop, Fron let out a tired sigh.

He had poured nearly all of his belongings into this, including the drop items he'd collected. This was all he could produce.

If everything sold, he could probably recover about 40,000 Valis—though the shopkeeper still took a cut.

"Forty thousand Valis isn't too bad. Well—considering I'm still a novice smith."

He shrugged, self-deprecating, and prepared to head to his next destination.

Now that he had obtained the "Mystery" development ability, it was time to start crafting magic tools.

"For monster-related stuff, the most useful magic tool would be 'flame stones,' I guess. But the materials are hard to get."

Apparently, flame stones almost never circulate in the market. Even smiths get them directly from their familias, so that channel was already cut off for Fron.

"I'll ask Welf about it tomorrow."

"As for the rest, I should be able to carry out the plan I had before."

That "thing" was something he had conceived of earlier. Now that he possessed "Mystery," he wondered if he could finally create it.

...

[Takemikazuchi Familia]

Takemikazuchi, a God from the Far East.

The children of the familia had lived under his protection since childhood, so calling him "the kids' boss" wasn't wrong.

The familia hadn't been in Orario for long.

Whether in dungeon exploration or commerce, saying they were mediocre would be generous—poverty was a more accurate term.

He was a god of poverty, but kind and caring toward his children. Probably similar in personality to Loki—watching over his children like a parent.

Due to the familia's financial struggles, their residence was rather remote.

This was the back alley of Northwest Street, in District 7. It was close to the [Twilight Manor] in District 8—practically neighbors.

The old apartment complex was built on a narrow street in the northwest district. Whether by chance or not, the architectural style was distinctly Far Eastern.

The [Takemikazuchi Familia] headquarters was located here.

Standing in front of a large house, Fron peered inside.

"May I ask who you're looking for?"

A short-haired girl wearing a violet kimono that barely reached her thighs had been working in the yard. Seeing a man looking in from the gate, she came up to ask.

'I believe her name is Chigusa Hitachi, a somewhat timid girl.'

Fron recognized her and stepped forward with a smile to greet her.

"Is this the [Takemikazuchi Familia]? I'm Fron Argon from the Loki Familia. This visit is of a personal nature."

"You mean that Loki Familia?"

Fron removed his cloak's hood and nodded with a smile.

"Ah, yes—the one you're thinking of. This visit has nothing to do with the familia. I just want to ask Ms. Yamato Mikoto for a small favor."

"Um—Mr. Fron, please come in."

"Sorry for the trouble."

"N-not at all."

Chigusa led Fron through the courtyard to the guest room.

"Takemikazuchi-sama, there's a visitor!"

"Oh? Someone visiting us? That's quite rare."

Responding to the voice, a male god in a plain kimono with horn-like hair buns appeared.

As far as Fron knew, this god was extremely kind and loved helping others.

Most notably, he was quite popular with women but totally oblivious to it—in other words, a total straight-laced guy.

The other gods called him a clueless pretty boy.

Thinking of the god's embarrassing history, Fron's mouth twitched slightly before quickly stepping forward to greet him.

"Greetings, Takemikazuchi-sama. I'm Fron Argon of the Loki Familia. This is a personal visit—I would like to request a small favor from your familia's Yamato Mikoto."

"Hm? You're here for Mikoto, that child?"

"Eh? F-for me???"

A girl named Yamato Mikoto appeared—not alone, however.

Beside her stood a burly young man nicknamed "Masuratakeo". If memory served, he was Kashima Ouka, Level 2, and the familia's captain.

Hearing the voice, Fron turned to look at her.

The girl had long black hair flowing to her shoulders, tied into a side ponytail, likely to avoid interference during combat. Two locks of hair hung by her forehead.

She had a tall figure and wore knee-high dark red boots.

"Yes, I have a request for you, ma'am. Think of it as a request from one adventurer to another."

"Eh? Can you give me more details?"

"No problem. It's very simple—I just want to see your gravity magic."

"..."

Everyone, including Takemikazuchi, stared at each other in confusion. What kind of request was that?

"Uh… kid, calling it a request is too much. It's just one spell. I'm not like that Dian Cecht guy who even puts a price on Amid's healing magic."

Takemikazuchi raised a hand to his forehead and shook his head.

"Mikoto, go ahead and use it here. Consider it practice."

"But—Takemikazuchi-sama, is that really okay?"

"It's nothing. Just a small favor."

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Fron bowed deeply.

"Thank you so much. If you ever need me, I'll come running."

"I told you—it's nothing. No need to be so formal."

Mikoto also stepped forward.

"Is here okay, sir?"

"Yes, no need for a large area. Just demonstrate the magic's properties."

"Understood."

With that, everyone stepped aside. Mikoto stood alone in the center.

Then came the chant—Fron narrowed his eyes slightly, concentrating. The tone and rhythm were completely different from Lefiya's style.

[I respectfully speak to you, my War God that can break through any thing,]

[lead me from the precious heaven.]

[Give my petty body divine power of your grand body.]

[Rescue them light of purification, sword of crushing evil.]

[Sweep sword of suppression, sacred sword of conquest.]

[It arrives here now by my order.]

[Descend from heaven, rule the earth—shinbu tousei]

—With a rousing tone, the chant rang out.

A distinctly Far Eastern-style purple magic circle unfolded in the sky.

Vast magical energy gathered into a massive sword, which dropped straight down and pierced the ground, triggering a second, larger magic circle.

Suddenly, a tremendous pressure bore down on Fron's entire body, causing him to bend at the waist.
