Chapter 144: One word: Extravagant.
Her appearance gave an impression of elegance mixed with refinement. Her calm yet slightly startled gaze seemed filled with wisdom, leaving the impression of an intelligent, capable young woman.
-------------------------------------------
After removing the cloak she used as a disguise, her attire was reflected in the eyes of Fron and Ais.
A pure white cardigan cloak, along with a belt with many pouches similar to Fron's , a short sword fastened at the back of her waist, and some leather holsters for purposes unknown.
But... what drew the most attention, leaving the deepest impression, were undoubtedly her pair of boot-like sandals decorated with golden wings.
The "Perseus" Asfi Al Andromeda, captain of the Hermes Familia, publicly listed as Level 2, but in truth a Level 4 second-tier adventurer.
In terms of reputation alone, as a renowned inventor of magic items, she could even rival the very top first-tier adventurers.
Like Ryuu Lion, she was among the few truly elite fighters.
Note, saying her combat strength was comparable did not mean Asfi's stats were top-class.
On the contrary, her ability values were only above average, but by relying on the diverse, strange, and all-purpose magic items she wielded, her combat ability was greatly enhanced.
Yes, this was the third "Mystery" holder Fron had seen, aside from himself.
The "Dea Saint" Amid Teasanare, the "Perseus" Asfi Al Andromeda, the "Sage" Fels, and the "Flame Demon" Fron Argon.
For two major figures who possessed "Mystery" to appear in one party at the same time, this was truly a luxurious lineup.
"'Perseus,' Asfi Al Andromeda, is also accepting this commission?"
Ais recognized her, her normally expressionless little face slightly shaken.
In response, Asfi pushed up her glasses and spoke in a slightly troubled tone:
"Who would want to accept such a strange commission? Just hearing it sounds like a huge hassle, right? If it weren't for this stupid dog being so greedy for money... sigh, well, due to certain reasons, I had no choice."
Lulune shrank her neck guiltily at those words, her already low presence dropping further.
"That 'certain reason' refers to the fact that your entire Hermes Familia is hiding its levels, right? Don't worry, both Ais and I are in the know."
With feigned kindness, Fron revealed the truth to the beautiful human girl before him.
With just that one sentence, the entire chamber suddenly became awkward.
What was this? Covering one's ears while stealing a bell? They already knew perfectly well, yet they were still keeping up the secrecy act.
Even Asfi, a princess of a island nation, tempered with countless social courtesies, even she couldn't stop the twitching at the corner of her mouth, her whole face showing subtle cracks in her composure.
Trouble. Big trouble!
"Lulune!" Her sharp gaze and stern tone instantly called out the girl with low presence.
"Ah… ah!!! Asfi, wh-what is it!?"
"You, why don't you ever learn your lesson! It's bad enough you got the Familia into massive trouble before, but now you've even leaked our secret!"
"I-I didn't leak it! I didn't say anything!"
"You're still trying to make excuses!"
Lulune was almost in tears. How was she supposed to know that hateful man already knew!? She hadn't said a word, yet he just exposed her anyway, so unfair!
Fron watched the comedic scene unfold without the slightest intention to intervene.
After all, he already had leverage in hand. With leverage, he could build connections.
With connections, some small talk, and a few shady missions together, the distance between them would close.
And once that distance closed... wouldn't it be up to him to decide how to take advantage?
Having enough intelligence and information, a small scheme was all it took. As clever as Asfi was, what could she do? Dance in my hands, girl!
Even when facing that troublemaker god Hermes, Fron wasn't afraid.
Thinking such messy thoughts, Fron turned his gaze on Asfi.
That look, so kind and gentle, was like one appraising an excellent tool.
A shiver ran down Asfi's back, as if some malicious intent had set its eyes on her.
She shot a vicious glare at Lulune, then looked around suspiciously, but finding nothing, finally let out a sigh of relief.
Of course, she didn't realize Fron had already started plotting in secret.
"Ahem, my apologies. You've been made to laugh. It's just... how should I put it, the emotional intelligence of my Familia's members can be rather moving."
"..." Ais and Fron glanced at each other, the young man barely suppressing his laughter.
"What, Asfi, how can you say that about me!"
"Hmph, putting aside how the Flame Demon found out, when that mysterious black-robed man threatened you back then, couldn't you at least have held out to the end? I've never seen anyone cave so quickly."
"Asfi~~ I was wrong, okay?"
"..."
Lulune tried to get by with cuteness. Though Fron found it a bit... questionable, surprisingly, it worked quite well on Asfi.
"Forget it, what's done is done. At least we're lucky this troublesome commission comes with help from the Sword Princess and the Flame Demon. If it were only our Familia, even I wouldn't be confident."
Was this an adventurer's sixth sense? Clearly, as clever as she was, she must have also sensed something was wrong.
Fron looked at her deeply, then spoke:
"Do you still need to prepare anything? The situation on the 24th floor is urgent, we should set out as soon as possible."
"Don't worry, for this mission, we spent a fortune buying out all the supplies, medicines, and tools available in Rivira."
"..."
One word: Extravagant.
As expected of the "Perseus." The goods in Rivira were ten times the market price, and she still bought them all.
If this were Loki Familia, and Finn dared to do that... Loki would probably smash his head open.
"Once we confirm our gear, let's go over the commission details again."
Asfi spoke as she pulled a bundle of parchment from her belt pouch.
"The target is the monster pantry on the 24th floor, to investigate the cause of the monster riot. If possible, we can directly subjugate it, correct?"
Fron nodded:
"That's right, that's the task."
"Then, no need to go over your side in detail, 'Sword Princess' Ais Wallenstein, Level 6. 'Flame Demon' Fron Argon, Level 4. As for us, including myself, the Hermes Familia is deploying 15 members in total. Most are Level 3, with a few at Level 2."
Fifteen members, all high-level adventurers.
Though not quite on par with Loki Familia, within Orario, they were definitely considered an upper-ranking Familia.
At minimum, their Familia rank was B, possibly even A.
"Then, for this cooperation, I hope both sides will give it their all. After all... I have a rather bad feeling about this."
"No problem."
The two sides made their final confirmations, then exchanged glances.
"Then, let's set out."
