Volume 2 Chapter 168
168. A Simple Answer
Xia Yi remembered.
During her impromptu speech to the citizens, she had released her true dragon form, letting everyone know that she was actually just a tiny little silver dragon, and even rolled around acting cute, completely shattering her majesty and destroying her image.
This was the most desperate situation for Xia Yi.
However, Sera’s response was not what she expected.
“Princess, didn’t you go rest on the float because you were overworked?”
“Eh?”
Xia Yi’s eyes widened.
Sera’s reply was very serious and didn’t seem like she was joking around.
“After Her Majesty gave her speech, it was your turn… but at that time, due to your poor physical condition, you went to rest. Her Majesty then took over the rest of the event until the parade ended.”
“Was it like that?”
Xia Yi threw off the blanket.
“Is that what everyone saw?”
“Yes,” Sera nodded. “That was today’s royal parade. Everyone felt a bit disappointed that they didn’t get to hear your speech… but they all said it was well worth the trip being able to see Her Majesty and you.”
“This…”
Xia Yi was stunned.
That’s not right. It’s completely different from what she remembered.
Where was her social death?
“Sera, look into my eyes!”
Xia Yi suddenly stood up.
Although there was quite a difference compared to the tall maid… using the height of the bed, she reached the same eye level.
“My true dragon form… does everyone else know about it?”
“Your true dragon form?” Sera shook her head. “No, how would they know? You’ve never shown it to anyone else.”
“Huh? It’s really different. Could it be…”
Suddenly, Xia Yi remembered something.
Before getting off the float, Xia Lulu had specifically said something, but she hadn’t paid attention to it.
“Things aren’t as bad as you think…”
Xia Yi repeated these words.
She seemed to understand. Was this what Xia Lulu meant?
Could it be that all of this had to do with Xia Lulu!?
“Come to think of it, it’s a bit strange. Didn’t you and Her Majesty both drink tea before setting off? How come it seems like it had no effect?” Sera muttered.
Xia Yi had already jumped off the bed and put on her slippers, opening the door to run out.
“Princess? Where are you going?”
“I have something to do. I’ll be right back!” Xia Yi shouted.
She was quite nervous walking outside, afraid that if she encountered other dragons, they would make comments that would embarrass her to the point of exploding.
But the dragons in the palace didn’t do that. They even took the initiative to remind her to pay more attention to her health and rest well.
Everyone’s perception was the same as what Sera said. No one saw Xia Yi release her true dragon form.
Xia Yi didn’t suffer social death.
…
It took Xia Yi some time to reach Xia Lulu’s room.
Knock knock knock.
She knocked on the door.
“Who is it?”
Xia Lulu asked from inside the room.
“Me!”
“Who is ‘me’?”
“The indomitable Human Sword Saint!”
“I don’t know any dead person like that.”
“Ungh!”
Xia Yi’s neck turned red.
Xia Lulu was deliberately teasing her.
Normally, she wouldn’t continue to indulge Xia Lulu’s whims and would have turned and left.
But today, she really wanted to know what happened, so she temporarily swallowed her pride.
“Your daughter, Xia Yi…”
“You should have said so earlier. Come in, Daughter.”
As soon as Xia Lulu finished speaking, the door to the room opened a crack.
Xia Yi pushed the door open and walked in. Her body’s first reaction was to bow to Xia Lulu.
After bowing, she raised her head, and her expression froze.
“What, what are you doing?!”
Xia Lulu was sitting beside a table.
On the table, a little white hamster was hugging a jar of premium nuts, indulging itself in bliss.
“Squeak squeak—”
Mousey even made sounds of enjoyment.
Xia Lulu watched Mousey eat with interest.
“Daughter, why are you in such a hurry?” Xia Lulu asked. “Judging from your tone, you sound so aggrieved. Could it be that Mousey did something you find unacceptable?”
“Ah? I, I…”
Xia Yi’s gaze wandered.
“Squeak—”
Mousey was still enjoying the nuts.
Seeing Mousey like this, Xia Yi finally couldn’t hold back. She was so angry that even her ahoge stood up, and she scolded, “Mousey, you traitor!!”
But Mousey didn’t care about Xia Yi’s words at all. In its world right now, there were only the fragrant and crispy nuts.
“Daughter, it’s not your fault. After all, Mousey has gotten tired of peanuts,” Xia Lulu explained.
“Could it be?!”
Xia Yi understood.
From the very beginning, Mousey was an undercover agent!!
Mousey had been betraying her in exchange for food. Xia Lulu had known about her plan long ago and pretended to know nothing, playing along with her act.
The one who was kept in the dark was actually Xia Yi herself.
“So you knew all along…”
“It was a good plan, Daughter. I should indeed praise you for being able to think to this extent and even take action… but it would be great if you could put more of this effort into positive things.”
“That, that’s… wuu…”
Being exposed like this, Xia Yi felt very embarrassed.
“Daughter, you didn’t come to find me just to self-destruct, right?”
“I wanted to ask why no one saw me release my true dragon form…”
Xia Lulu took out a bottle of potion and held it in her hand. “Do you recognize this?”
“Isn’t this the Release Potion I made!? Then what did Mousey put in the tea before?”
“That was a potion I refined,” Xia Lulu said. “I made some adjustments to your formula. After drinking it, you won’t go wild and roll around everywhere. You’ll fall asleep and have some nightmares.”
“So those were my nightmares?”
Xia Yi understood.
She indeed didn’t release her true dragon form in front of others. That was because the effect of the potion Xia Lulu replaced was to fall into a deep sleep, and Xia Lulu took her away.
The subsequent situation was taken over by Xia Lulu until she woke up in her arms again.
“Why did you do this?” Xia Yi asked. “Wouldn’t it be better to take this opportunity to punish me and embarrass me in front of everyone?”
“…”
Xia Lulu was silent for a moment, then smiled.
The Silver Dragon Queen would usually say some cryptic words, but the answer she gave was very simple.
So simple that… it was a bit heartwarming.
“Because you’re my daughter.”
“…”
Hearing these words, Xia Yi froze, staring blankly at Xia Lulu as her face gradually turned crimson.
Unknowingly, the little princess’s tail began to wag.
