Chapter 5: Temporary Separation_3
"Of course, we need to change locations."
-----------------
After Old Juan left, the wooden door creaked and was gently pushed open again.
Chen Rui walked in, his footsteps somewhat heavy.
He stood silently in the center of the room, watching Zhou Qingfeng walk into the bathroom to change clothes. His lips moved, but he couldn't utter a single word, clearly burdened with thoughts.
Zhou Qingfeng came out of the bathroom, casually put on a gray tracksuit, and took two pistols from the drawer by the bed. One he tucked into a holster under his arm, and the other he hid in an ankle belt.
He glanced at Chen Rui, and seeing him still standing there, frowned slightly and said in a low voice, "If you have something to say, just say it. Don't bottle it up."
Chen Rui's throat moved as if he had gathered his courage, and finally spoke: "Boss, can I… stick around with you?"
The words came from his mouth with a hint of bitterness.
He was more than ten years older than Zhou Qingfeng, but now he had to bow his head and ask for help from this young man, his face involuntarily tensing with indescribable awkwardness.
"Of course." Zhou Qingfeng's tone was relaxed, "I happen to be short on manpower, you've come at the right time."
While arranging his cuffs, he said casually, "If it weren't for you piloting the 'Holy Light I' to rescue me, I might not have been able to escape Orlando City."

Despite how incompetent the United States police might be, the city's surveillance net is impenetrable. Escaping on the ground would leave traces.
At the most critical moment, Chen Rui piloted the 'Holy Light I' to vertically descend, stubbornly extracting Zhou Qingfeng from the heavy encirclement.
At that moment, the police's pursuit plan turned into a futile effort, unable to get a grasp.
The maneuverability of the 'Holy Light I' was extraordinary, especially its ability for ground-hugging flight, which was almost a nightmare for radars.
When flying low, the engine's roar was masked by the trees and buildings, and ground personnel looking up could only see a vague shadow.
If it weren't for the United States Air Force urgently deploying the 'United Star' designed specifically for battlefield reconnaissance, Zhou Qingfeng would have been able to slip away without a trace, not even leaving exhaust fumes behind.
However, Chen Rui did not relax because of this, his expression still anxious, his voice so low it was almost inaudible: "About Old Xiao's side…"
Zhou Qingfeng waved his hand, cutting him off, and said firmly: "If there's a chance, I'll talk to Old Xiao myself."
He stepped forward, patted Chen Rui's shoulder again, and smiled: "Whether you're putting on a show of hardship or truly at the end of your rope, it doesn't matter. Right now, we can certainly advance and retreat together. That's enough."
Upon hearing this, Chen Rui felt something stuck in his throat, and he nodded heavily. His expression gradually firmed up as he said in a deep voice:
"Yes, in our line of intelligence work, we've performed hardship acts too many times, talking about trust alone is too naive. Let's take care of the present first.
But, boss, what are your plans next?"
"To get a car and meet a friend of mine." Zhou Qingfeng's preparations for the apocalypse could now be put to use.
After several vehicle swaps and much dodging and hiding, Zhou Qingfeng arrived at a forest resort area north of Orlando.
'Gray Shark' had set up a small open-air camp here.
When they met, Zhou Qingfeng first reached out to greet 'Gray Shark's' mother: "Hello, Madam Nasha, I'm Victor."
'Gray Shark,' seated in a wheelchair, excitedly shouted: "Mom, mom, I told you, he knows you, he's known you for a long time. He's from the future!"
It was the first time the old lady met her son's friend, and she seemed a bit uneasy. But as 'Gray Shark' shouted, she calmly said:
"You two know each other, and I'm standing right next to him, of course he knows who I am?!"
